• though nightingalecry and ebonylight trained together, they were hardly friends. nightingalecry kept to herself, fearful of judgment from her peers. ebonylight did much of the same, being a former member of gin's rogues. the inevitability of death, however, had brought them closer together, morbidly enough. though their love is young, new, and unsteady, the two of them agree that having a litter together would be a good thing for them. unfortunately, they are incredibly wrong.
  
  ebonylight is devoted to sootstar almost as much as he is to his new mate. it becomes increasingly apparent in hushed arguments and uncertain discussions between the two that they do not share the same views and values. nightingalecry, afraid to lose her one chance at love, is often quick to set aside her thoughts and fears to appease ebonylight. ebonylight just likes seeing her smile, and in truth hardly knows how everything around them is eating her alive.
  
  when sootstar's loyalists are driven out of windclan, ebonylight will go with them, leaving their freshly born litter in the paws of the nursery queens and nightingalecry.
  
  nightingalecry finds herself only valuable when another dictates it so - in having a litter, she has plenty of little lives that depend on her, literal reasons to keep breathing. and so she does, her devotion to life only existing because of her lonesome litter.

  with ebonylight no longer living within windclan territory, nightingalecry will be left to raise the kittens mostly on her own (albeit, with a nursery queen, and her brother, to help.) and though her mate never manipulated her, her idea of loyalty and devotion is severely warped; she trusts him incredibly. enough, at least, to bring their kittens to nowhere land in order for him to see them.
  
  this can land nightingalecry in hot water - and can very well lead to her exile should she not be careful. but she loves ebonylight, and she wants them to be a family.
  
  BLINDSIDED
  what nightingalecry doesn't know is that while ebonylight does love her… his devotion still lies with sootstar's teachings, even after she's long gone. their short visits once the kittens begin to speak and walk are plagued with his attempts to condition him in his perfect image - their deceased moorland queen. and nightingalecry, pitiful in her love, is nearly blind and deaf to the ongoings, until it damages her life in her clan.
  
  CHANGE
  regardless of if she remains a windclanner after this, nightingalecry will request that her children, those of which named by ebonylight, change their names for her. she worries at this point that their attachment to the tom will be their downfall, just as it was hers. she will respect them should they wish to keep their names and wear them with pride, but she will urge them otherwise to pick something better, kinder.

A LONGHAIRED SILVER CLASSIC LYNX POINT MOLLY WITH PALE BLUE EYES & LOW WHITE
masking spotted, carrying non-silver, charcoal

cinderkit bears a plush ash-and-bone pelt, with silvers as bright and stunning as silverpelt itself, doused in cream until only ghostly stripes are visible on the rest of her body. visible in her silver patterning, though, are spots of burnished gold, a natural occurrence in feral silver cats that give her pelt a dynamic hue. the stripes that cut through her gentler colors are bold and black. it seems almost too bold for a girl otherwise so delicate in appearance. the ebony streaks carve a familiar eyelash-like patterning into her cheeks among other classic tabby patterning.

her eyes are a mother-of-pearl sort of blue, pale as the sun and twice as beautiful, a breath of seafoam breaking into the ocean iris. downturned at their corners, cinderkit may often wear a pitiful or weary expression — but fear not for her, as this is just her resting face.

cinderkit takes after her mother in many ways. nightingalecry's beauty is embodied wholly in her daughter. however, cinderkit rarely takes advantage of this fact, and truly struggles to accept it at all until she is nearly fully grown. she is shorter and fuller than her mother, small enough to fit into windclan's labyrinth of tunnels — after beginning her tunneling training, cinderkit's pelt will be so stained with dirt that she will more closely resemble her namesake. however, she always makes an effort to groom her fur; especially with how long it is, it is prone to matting and pulling away in clumps after rooting around in the dirt all day.

• some will say that cinderkit is already a misfit simply due to her heritage. while old windclanners may distrust her as nightingalecry's daughter, the granddaughter of a traitor, new windclanners may distrust her for ebonylight's allegiance to the disgraced moor-queen who tore them apart.
  
  however, cinderkit is not a misfit for her family's complications — rather, she finds herself almost entirely passive in a clan that demands the opposite of her. though, passive may be the wrong word. cinderkit has morals, or she at least has things that she believes staunchly in, enough to make her nauseous when asked to act against them. but she lacks the skillset to stand against the doing. despite the bile that rises when she kills her prey, despite the cold-snap anxiety that fumbles her battle training, cinderkit still... tries. in some way, she tries, because she owes the clan that much for saving her life. she owes it to them to be their perfect warrior.

  considering that these will be worm kits, i will be outlining some core traits that will stick with cinderkit, but i will leave the majority of her personality open to dev (especially considering the ic environment of windclan will probably be very different once she Has A Conscience).
  
  
  
• TRANSITION GOALS: since these kits will be played from worms, i would like to play out cinderkit's transition! thus he/him pronouns will be acceptable in reference to her pre-transition. i'll plan to have her fully transition around 2 moons, but assert herself as female as soon as she can grasp the concept of being gendered.
  
  SIS PUELLA MAGICA: i would like cinderkit to go through a near-death experience of some sort (my initial thought was illness, but i would be open to other ideas for sure!) that she must be saved from. this would truly cement her loyalty to windclan in the form of an oath of sorts — she owes windclan her loyalty because they rescued her from death. i think timing this near-death experience to happen immediately after she starts apprenticeship would be good (and any training delays are expected and welcomed). when she is healed and begins her training again, cinderkit will push herself like never before to repay what she owes to the clan — only to find that she loathes combat above all.
  
  GRADUS PROHIBITUS: in response to nightingalecry's attempts to force her splintered family back together, i think that cinderkit's ideas of love and a good family would become warped. she may question whether her own family can be categorized as 'good', especially with her loyalty to windclan putting her on edge each time nightingalecry escorts her to the border of the rogues who'd tried to tear her clan apart. ebonylight's 'conditioning' will also harm the girl's psyche — she has never wanted to shape herself into the domineering molly who ebonylight holds so dear. however, whether in the moment or approaching her apprenticeship, cinderkit will struggle with the idea of paying windclan back in the best way possible (and embodying sootstar's image as ebonylight paints her) and being the cat she is truly meant to be, and must reconcile this as she grows up. undecided as to whether she will change her name when nightingale pleads for her to, but if she does, she will likely choose one of these possibilities.
  
• THEMATIC INSPIRATIONS: deeply inspired by madoka magica's presentation of magical girls, wish-bound to a life they never would have chosen for themselves if they knew the full extent of their contract. the reality of the child soldier in windclan's current climate (or, the reality of a pacifistic personality in a world that necessitates violence). corruption of innate good; unwillingness or inability to stand up for yourself and the pain that accompanies it.
  
  AESTHETIC INSPIRATIONS: pearlescent seashell glimmers, the shimmer of butterfly wings, dewdrop on grass in the early morning, the cold snap that turns it all frosty. faeries and mushroom circles; mermaids and scales. la fille aux cheveux de lin; messa da requiem: 2d. liber scriptus. the silver glint of a sword in hands too small to hold it. the farmer showing his son how the chickens get butchered (don't name them, you'll get attached.)

carrionkit is an individual that is rather unique in color. its base pelt is a faint silver gradient, pale and cool over its body. as the color reaches towards the points of its body, they dim to a slightly darker, though still rather pale, silvery-grey color. spots and points are painted on top of this metallic base, pale and faintly beige near its body and fading darker and darker until it’s nearly black at the points, on its paws, nose, and tail. the tufts of fur within its ears are a pure soft white, with the same white making a scruffy mane around its neck, and the same color going down its chest and all the way down its stomach. its fur over its body is rather long, making it a rather fluffy individual. it has bright blue eyes, complementary to the colors of its pelt, wide and eerie.

it has a short and stocky body, chubby with small legs. its fur seems to expand upon this, making it seem a bit larger but also making it seem shorter with its droopy long fur. it has big paws and a long tail; not a single part of it is small aside from its height. large eyes match large tufted ears, accompanied by a wide smile. it has a broad muzzle that allows for this large mouth, just as fitting as the rest of its features.

it’s a rather clumsy individual, with a slow and lumbering gait. it doesn’t feel the need to rush, and so takes its time when it walks anywhere, not often running unless it finds something very important. it trips over its paws often enough, as well as any loose objects lying around, like branches or loose rocks. it often smells of dust and flowers, spending quite a bit of time rolling around in the dirt and grass while playing, which allows the scent to root itself deep in its fur. its voice is low and raspy, as slow as its pace in anything else. it takes its time when talking, relaxed as it thinks about its words and strings them together.

SHORT HAIRED SEAL POINT WITH WHITE PAWS AND BLUE EYES
Manglekit's ink-seeping-through-paper seal and cream figure paints her as her uncle's little twin, with short velvet fur clinging snugly to her frame and clear blue eyes to boot. She will lack Periwinkle's height and grace, growing up to be stout and short-limbed, small enough to fit into Windclan's tunnels, Mangle's wiry, tightly wound musculature makes her a perfect contestant for tunneling. And, eventually, she will grow a fondness for all the darkness and unpredictability the underground has to offer. Her almond-shaped, upturned eyes and slim, angular face bear an uncanny resemblance to her disgraced father, as well as the sleek, dense muscularity of her compact body. Manglekit's white-socked paws, however, belong solely to her.

Manglekit is a sturdy kitten with a penchant for wrestling and roughhousing -- biting tails and digging needly kitten-claws into any unsuspecting passersby. She is incredibly protective of her siblings, happy to act as their bodyguard, and always ready to go up to bat for her loved ones -- for better or for worse. Aside from those closest to her, Mangle subscribes to the tit-for-tat school of morals, fond of the 'you bite me, I bite you right back' method of dealing with any challenges that come her way.

• With an aptitude for battle and the makings of a promising little soldier, Mangle will at first take to Ebony's teachings and put her trust in him as she's fed validation. Depending on how things play out, Mangle will likely feel crushed and betrayed by Nightingale's love being taken advantage of by Ebony.
• "I carry my mother's sorrow but I will not make her mistakes": Events are likely to lead her to close off her heart and erase any possible sign of weakness, instead devoting herself to the service of whatever she has pledged her allegiance to (family, Windclan, etc..)
• plot: a rash decision of hers leads her to cause the harm/injury of a clanmate/loved one ,, may result in a brief self-exile and she becomes a devotee of self-discipline.
• When Nightingale requests that they change their names, "Gentle-" will serve as a promise and a reminder that she is not only a weapon or a vessel for violence

Shorthair Charcoal Tabby
As a kit they are rather pitiful looking. Scrawny and hollowed, with sunken eyes that are seemingly always glaring. The black mask that covers their face amplifies this skull like appearance. When found under the starlight they often make a cats' heart rush, thinking they found the glowing orange eyes of a StarClan cat.

Their fur itself is rather breathtaking. The tabby stripes flow spectacularly up and down them, it almost makes up for their sickly look.

Breath. Evaluate. Act.

There is no room for mistakes, there is no time for ignorance. They believe in effective and cold methods of loyalty. The only time this mindset falters them is in regards to their own family. There is a disconnect, seeing their mother repeatedly hurt herself trying to love their father they can't help but try and protect her as best they can. But if they can't then what are they worth?

They are but a shell made to protect those around them. Not that they let many close. Their father's blatant disregard for his family makes them cringe away at the idea of making close bonds. Though if they ever did make a close bond it's unclear whether they would be cold and distant and accidentally follow in footsteps they despise, or perhaps they throw far too much of themselves into anyone who says they love them.

Thus the life of a protecter, a knight, a shield, is an ever changing one.

• The general vibe for them will always be knight/guardian, willing to sacrifice anything and everything for someone
• romantic relationships are probably going to be the most interesting as I can see both them either becoming overly clingy or extremely cold and distant as valid reactions to his parents relationship
• I would love if the time ever came where they could just let their tongue slip and try to give Nightingalecry a reality check on why she can't keep letting Ebonylight hurt her.
• As mentioned previously, they will be amab at birth and identify with that for at least a little bit, but I'm toying with the idea of maybe late into apprenticeship or even warriorhood they will come to find it doesn't quite fit. This might tie in nicely with the name change plot idea but it doesn't have to intersect.

appearance:
— a slinky shorthaired charcoal lynx point, light blue eyes
— her form, as much as her future name, betrays none of her behavior; a small cat throughout life, ghost-like, her cropped fur staying close to her bones. all her power lies in her jaws, with slicing teeth as a signature move both in kithood and when she’s older. a piranha, or a leech, hard to shake off. her eyes are often heavy-lidded in annoyance, though they take up a lot of her face, and are often straining against the sun.

personality ideas:

— a rough outline for her personality. quick-witted, but the rest of her mood makes many wish she was blind to some things. deathkit has learned to observe others at a young age. she angles her abrasive side towards the world, and allows cats such as nightingalecry and her siblings to see a more vulnerable version of her. it’s unclear whether anyone else will ever get to that point.

houses her ideals in a “my way or the highway” box. independence and ability to manage her own time makes deathkit believe she’s superior, though she talks little of that side of her. in fact, deathkit speaks less than most, and often packs speech with nearly unbearable pauses as she mulls over her own words. even with those who worm their way into her heart will find her conversational skills abysmal – often annoyed by long talks, she might come to appreciate someone’s babbling if she finds it endearing rather than vexing.

deathkit may be intimidating to be around for many of her peers, but they’ll never find her unreliable or untrustworthy. though her fickleness and ability to divert temper onto anyone makes her a ticking time bomb, the rift between her mother’s and father’s loyalties means she has to step down to the personal level. she applies her devotion to individuals, finding it hard to trust an entire group, and later may confuse love with loyalty.

plots:
— born with such a terrifying name, deathkit will face the reactions of her clanmates head-on. as she doesn’t know her father yet, it will be a point of contention against an anonymous face, and from a very young age she’ll loathe the fact that things are already stacking up against her. she often refuses to give her name in conversation, and gets oddly combative about anyone asking. on the same coin, she’ll be very picky about nicknames.

— when she meets her father, who begins to tell them of sootstar’s glory, she’ll slowly begin to open up to him, saying that her name had been causing her issues her entire life. depending on how it goes and assuming she’s hyped up, most likely she’ll walk back to camp wearing her name with pride. a kit with many insecurities, the idea of having something that sparked fear into her clanmates begins to become more a weapon than a wound, something that protects her. her father’s ideals begin to saturate her mind as well, because it sounds powerful, something she’s never felt.

— would probably become more and more sarcastic and biting as time goes on. she will be so emo... might give nightingalecry some grief with trouble she causes, especially as she becomes prone to lashing out with others. master at apologizing to nightingale, or hiding stuff from her. deathkit wouldn’t dare bicker or insult her own mother or family, but often starts showing signs she thinks she’s the best out of all of them for “keeping the family together” by obeying both mother and father.

— will be keeping most of her plot open-ended because of the litter’s real time aging, especially when it comes to her beliefs and direction of personality, but she will end up obliging with her mother’s requests to rename herself. deathkit would offer up the idea of harekit, especially if she’s older and able to show hunting skill, but on request will negotiate with the name bunnykit. i love the idea of a meaner character named something sweet which is why i’m going with that one!

— personality:
more than likely will be a very rude/closed off individual. should he gain any friends, he will be extremely cliquey and a bully. the upbringing and negative relationship between his parents will play a large factor in shaping this. very protective (to a negative extent) of those he is close to and holds respect for/feelings (platonic or romantic) for. this will extend into apprenticeship, leaving room for him to slowly begin to grow somewhat kinder, or more unlikeable depending on his mentor. very villian esq type personality.

blunt / rude / aggressive / loyal / protective / sarcastic

note: in late apprenticeship or even in warriorhood, he will begin to soften to an extent, and become less vilian like. he will still have a cold exterior, but will be much kinder to his clanmates.

— future plots:
1) lots of internal conflict btwn mother & father. with family meetings of his father, he will feel conflicted on who to remain loyal to. as he grows older he may sneak off to meet his father more often. potentially lead to a major internal battle with falling victim to his father's manipulation and teachings. will remain loyal to windclan in the end.

2) with a flawed perception of love, he will likely model his upbringing/views in a rather toxic relationship himself, whether it be short or long-term. will struggle with learning how to love, and may potentially rotate through several partners before finding someone willing to teach him what a healthy relationship should be like.

3) if the youngest/runt in the litter, he will struggle with not being enough in the eyes of his parents and clan. especially with such an awful name for a child, he will have severe issues with his identity and often go to extreme lengths to show he is worthy of being a windclan warrior. if he is the oldest in the litter, he will also struggle with these issues, along with ensuring that he is a protector/keeper of his family. this may also get him into trouble for going to rather extreme lengths to protect his family and take matters into his own paws if they make choices he doesn't approve of.

4) room for major/minor plots amongst family members depending on their vibes/dynamics !!

With a heavy heart I do want to apologize first and foremost for all the wonderful apps we didn't pick, when I tell you the tie was so close please believe me you all wrote fantastic applications and I'd murder for the chance to see them come to life even if it's outside of this litter.
