*+:。.。 She isn't dead.
He knows that fact is true - when he last saw her, she was still breathing, still smiling, still...okay. Still gone. He refuses to entertain the idea that she could have died on her way to Riverclan, could still die even if she had been accepted - mauled by a fox or drowned by a pike. But that doesn't change the fact that she is still gone. He protectively refuses to allow the empty nest beside him to be dismantled or given away even as the days continue to creep on without her 'reappearance'. He misses her. Almost deathly so. Bleeding into every morning and every night he can't stop counting the days as if there'll be a finality to one of them. Maybe on the tenth, or the hundredth, or the thousandth - he'll see his sister again.
She isn't dead, but she doesn't feel like she's alive, either.
He sits outside the apprentices's den, dull green eyes a shade greyer as he watches the stars blink and shine. The inky black with the break of white sparkling through reminds him terribly of his sibling. The nights were colder without her fur to press against, and the days heavier without her laugh to lighten the weight. He misses her. He worries about her. He can't stand having this missing piece in his life.
She's not dead, but he mourns terribly.
"Flintpaw" his voice is hoarse, thin as the skin of a withering leaf. He spots the apprentice, perhaps returning from a nightfall patrol, one of the few - if only - cats still awake in camp. He must want to head straight to bed, to rest his eyes and paws and ears. But the loneliness gnaws so savagely at Bonepaw's chest, he finds he can't keep silent - as uncharacteristic as that is for the boy. He stares at the other apprentice for a long moment, mouth twitching- a fish out of water; a mute struggling to remember his own voice. Finally, he asks, "Does...does it get easier?"
