Departing the medicine den was a heartache in itself. She'd be leaving everything she knew- well, beyond the random camps they'd stayed in during the last moon. Her blue eyes swept over the nest she kept near her ðir, father, and siblings, making sure she didn't leave anything. A orange, nearly crunchy leaf. Petals that she'd woven into her fur so that she could move them safely. A random rock she had toyed with. She swallowed thickly, before turning her head. I will not cry. I am stronger then that. I will do this like a warrior. A mantra she thought to herself, paws taking her out of the tunnel that lead into the den.
And- out into the sunlight. Despite the cooling temperatures, the sun still arched overhead, her fur keeping her warm. She silently thanked her parents for the manes they bore and that she inherited, tucking her chin in against the mass of fluff about her neck as she moved towards her new nest. And it was terrifying and wonderful at the same time. Literally taking flight from her first home, her first nest, where she lost milk teeth and where she became old enough to learn to serve the clan.
That mantra was within her mind as she settled down her keepsakes about an empty nest, one that she had already tugged moss onto. And once it was all arranged how she liked it, she settled into it, stretching her paws out. She expected Snakehiss to be along any minute to tell her there was something new to do, some training, more running- all of which she appreciated, really, but she needed a minute to just breathe. That's what she did, head tilted up and her nerves settling.
