Mirepurr has to wonder if training an apprentice from scratch is easier than one who already comes pre-built with base knowledge and maybe, if they're lucky, a talent for this and that. In theory, it's nice to imagine that someone under your care only has you for reference, only ever learns what you teach them- and all the same, if one has been passed down to you, any mistakes have to be corrected before they get too out of control. The previous mentors of Snowpaw and Opossumpaw are both formidable warriors; Mirepurr can only hope they'll live up to that.
The undergrowth shifts underneath their paws as they lead the pair of apprentices into the territory. With all the potential danger lurking behind the trees, Mirepurr only wishes to take them a bit further than camp, not daring to subject them to the outskirts, where help might not arrive in time. It's a grim reminder that even with all the good news warming their own heart, ShadowClan is not much better off than it usually is.
"Alright," they say, punctuating their stop. Bushy tail flies over the ground as to not get dirty, Mirepurr turning on their axis to face the 'paws. "I'd like to see where you both are in terms of training; what your strengths and weaknesses are. This first day doesn't need to be strict... think of it as a team exercise. You can choose if you'd like to show your hunting or combat skills first, and we can practice so that we all get along. Deal?"
