Granitepelt had known nothing of the tunnels until he watched a familiar silver-shrouded figure emerge from one, dirt crumbling from her thick pelt. What a useful tool WindClan has—the ability to invade his Clan at any moment, completely by surprise. He feels strangely giddy upon seeing Sootstar, the smile on his face self-satisfied. He dips his head to the WindClan leader. “Sootstar. Welcome to your old home.” Once, she’d walked these marshes with his father, his mother, Briarstar herself. He wonders if she has any desire to claim them as hers once more.
“ShadowClan has had some visitors.” He begins to groom one slate-colored paw, tone idle. “A ThunderClanner pushed another onto the Thunderpath… and he was hit by a monster. He lives, unfortunately, and is sitting in my mate’s den, stinking the camp up and chattering with fear.” He pauses, eyeing the WindClan leader. “He claims Howlingstar and all of ThunderClan have it out for him now. Could be true… but really, they’re all liars. The more interesting thing…” His smile grows wicked, “Is how our lead warrior acted when Howlingstar denounced this cat.”
He does not know if he truly believes Sabletuft has any dark secrets related to Sunnyday… but he is certain that Sootstar would find the news of potential code breaking interesting.
