Marspaw sprawls out in a warm patch of sun near the center of camp, eyes half-lidded as he basks in the heat of the early afternoon. His tail flicks in contentment, sweeping small arcs across the dusty ground, and he stretches out his legs, feeling the satisfying pull in his muscles. Although he enjoys the bustle of camp, right now, he's relishing a rare quiet moment by himself. As he lies there, though, Marspaw's attention darts around camp, unable to fully settle. He watches a few kits tumble out of the nursery, squealing and pouncing at each other with their tiny, uncoordinated leaps. A slight smirk tugs at his mouth as he watches them, thinking back to when he was that small and fierce—or at least, he thought he was.
After a moment, he rolls onto his belly and begins to play idly with a stray twig, batting at it as though it's a lively prey animal just out of reach. It's hardly as satisfying as an actual hunt, but it keeps his paws busy. Every now and then, he tosses the twig up and catches it midair, snatching it between his teeth with a triumphant gleam in his eyes. In his mind, he's chasing down something much larger, feeling the thrill of a real catch. But it isn't long before he grows restless again. Sitting up, he glances around camp, eager for someone to come over and chat or even spar. His energy feels coiled, like it's just waiting to burst out in some direction, any direction. Yet, with no one immediately available, he flops back down with an exaggerated sigh, squirming slightly as he settles back into the dust, allowing the warmth of the sun to soothe his impatience—if only for a moment. As he closes his eyes and lets out a huff, Marspaw wonders how long he'll actually last just lounging here.
