The coast is clear. Hawkspine glances both ways across camp before he makes his move, ensuring that the sun-patched coat of Orangwstar is absent from view. Hawkspine himself is pretty sure the leader is on a hunting patrol, lweaving him to dsativ no satisfy his own curiosity in peace. Half-blurred eyes turn towards the elderberry bush where the leader sleeps, features pinching for a heartbeat, ears pricking forward. He'd been in the leader's den before, he thinks, some vague memory of Blazestar stirring at the rear of his mind, but not for several moons had Hawkspine seen the camp from wthin the elderberry bush.

As inconspicuously as possible, Hawkspine sidles across the camp toawards the den, glancing this away and that as he goes. It makes him look incredibly suspicious, though it'd break his heart to know that. Right as he peers past the fern that Orangestar hasd lost a fight against a quarter moon ago, an accusatory voice rings out.

"What are you odoing?"

Hawkspine jumps and whirls, ears pinning back, eyes landing on the Clanmate who has come to confront him.

it's time. B) if this is your first time: you may add formatting at the end of your post such as text colours, italics, and strikethroughs, but no backspacing or going back to edit your sentences during the writing process! anyone can be the clanmate who came to question hawk!

Prompt rolled from Deja's prompt list: The den sheltered beneath the elderberry bush is a complete mystery to you. Each night since shortly after her ascension, Orangestar has retreated behind the fragile branches in the purpling of dusk—and each time, you've wondered what it looks like in there. The leader appears absent from camp right now for whatever reason—emphasis on appears—and you've decided to seize the moment and finally find out what it looks like in there once and for all. Scampering over to the elderberry bush to take a peek inside, you'd better hope Orangestar doesn't make a sudden reappearance . . .

Unlike Hawkspine, the ba blacks black smoke hadn't been to Orangestar's den before. Perhaps the older tom should be curious— back in the twolegplace, he and his former rogue members didn't slumber in dens. They called the alleyway their home, and would sleep under wahtever they could. That included his mother; whom was the "head" of the group, but typically she got to choose her sleeping place first. Copia is still getting used to sleeping with a makeshift roof above his head, and he'll take it over sleeping against a dumpster.

The older tom did realize upon joining, that Orangestar never seemed to slumber in the warrior's den like her deputy, like her lead warriors. He guesses it's understandable that she would have her own den to slumber in; she must hv have a lot o on her shoulders. He Her clan is vast compared to hi his home in the twolegplace, in his short amount of time here— he can tell i it must be a lot of work.

The black smoke blinks, and sits himself up from the patch of shade he sat himself under. he notices an unfamiliar warrior trotting across the clearing— and he looks to his left and then to his right, so one and so on. Copia raises rises to his paws and silently o follows after the younger tom, whom hasn't seemed to notice him. Right as Hawkspine peers into the ferns, the former rogue opens his maw. "What are you, eh, doing?" Th The young warrior seems to jump in surprise, but Copia seems unbothered. "Are you hoping to speak with Orangestar?" He asks, raising an eyebrow as he notices how alarmed Hawkspine appears to be.

"I don't think she's in her den s currently, heh."

For the first time today she is at last sitting down to enjoy a piece of r freash-kill. A plump squirrel that someone had deposited into the pile, it’s blood warm and savory on her tongue. Usually, Figfeather had no issue being up in any cat’s buisness and scolding them when they did wrong; yet she did not seem to care about Hawkspine nosing around. For once she was too hungry to care.

Copia confronts the Tom , however. Though he mistakes him peering around for looking to Orangestar, Figfweather knows e better. ”I think he’s more interested in nosing around her den than Orangestar herself.” She informs, licking the remains of her fresh-kill of her lups.

OSilversmoke, having previously been a Lead Warrior of SkyClan, had experienced the inside of Orangestar's den plenty of times. It had once been Blazestars and, though the scent was long gone, its general layout and the presence of the late leader remained the same. It did not surprise him to see someone interested in the inside, all the same, Copia and Fightfeather catching Hawkspine caused him to cast an incredulous glance the youngest cat's way. "Seriously?" There was an old saying at a time like this: curiosity killed the cat. Though he doubted there was anything sinister in Orangestar's nest, he could imagine the other wanting to investigate anything dark and dangerous and the idea was a troubling one.

"Why don't you just ask Orangestar if you can take a look instead of sneaking around? You'd be in more trouble if you saw something you wwrn't supposed to." Like Slate and Orangestar sharing tongues, or a secret council meeting.

She liked to know the goings on of camp, while she wouldn't really call this gossip it was still interesting enoughto her. That being said nothing was ever not interesting to the black tabby. As she approached the group she gathered pretty wuickly what had happened and the whole scenario was ridiculous enough to bring a wide smile to her maw. She coughed to supress the giggle fit that she could feel coming, trying to play it off as a tickle of her throat rather than fidning this situation to be as funny i as it is. "Well? Didd you see anythig interesting?" If no one else was going to ask she would at least.

Whats done is don and Hawkspine can't take away the fact that he had been caught sneaking alook into her den, he may as sher well share it with the rest of them though! "Silversmoke's right though, Slate could have been in there or something" he also slept in here right? From what she heard anyways that seemed to be the case. She doubted that he would have been thrilled to see a curious young face poking into a private place where he may still have been in, or maybe he could have been up to something suspicous? Citrine eyes scan over at Figfeather and Copia, the pair of them seemed to be sharing disebelief and curiosity over his factions rather than being upset over the manner.

✧ . Orangestar’s den is a setting he knows well, one that he’d see stepped foot into time and time again as part of her council, as part of Blazestar’s council prior to that. It’s interior is ba but a memory now, just as the rank he’d gained access to the elderberry-guarded den with, but Greeneyes understands the curiosity the seldom-viewed landmark holds.

He was an apprentice once too, a young warrior there after. Greeneyes had dreamed of stepping foot into the den since his youth, since his mother had claimed the title Twitchbolt now holds. Snooping around, peering into the elderberry bush hadn’t quite occurred to him as it does Hawkspine, though, but the tom doesn’t need to question the young warrior before others do — Copia, and then lead warriors. Former, new — his sister among them. Of course.

The tom flicks his tail at the conversation, “ b Nothing too spectacular, surely, “ Greeneyes chimes in, “ It looks like any other den, doesn’t it? “ An illusion broken, no doubt, hi if Hawkspine got a good look at it. Still, a curious gaze looks to the young warrior.

"It's like the warrior den except there's only two nests in it." Hawkspine informs his Clanmates, sheepish. He hadn't expected to attract so much attention! His ears burn a bit. The attention of the older warriors, especially, is mortifying. Most of them had seen inside the elderverry den before, but not him! Hawkspine hadn't ever had a reason to go there since he was a kit - oh, so he hadn't not seen the inside of it, now that he thinks about it - so he wanted to see if it was any different from when Blazestar lived there.

"Orangestar isn't even here," he responds to Copia and Silversmoke in particular, ears twitching backwards. v" And I don't need to see Slate." Why would he nee d to see Slate? Hawkspine is fully grown, but he is still firmly of the believf that Slate eats kits.

Accusingly, he adds, "Did none of you want to see Blazestar's den when you were younger?"

Figfeather has been in the leaders den several times to know what it looks like. Especially since being promoted to lead warrior she has been called in to console Orangestar and sit in on council meetings. Still, she grins when Hawkspine pointedly asks if any of them hand’s wanted to see Blazestar’s den when they were younger.

”Of course I did. But I was about eight moons younger than you and mewling.” She teases with a purr.

He blinked incredulously at Hawkspine's rebuttal, completely unamsed despite Figfeather's attempt at teasing. "No," he answered plainly. "I was what... eighten moons when I joined SkyClan? author's note: he was younger than this but i cannot reverse. Childish curiosity has long since escaped me." Just how young did Spine think he was? His tail lashed. "It's just a matter of respect, waiting is." Especially now that the other had gotten caught.
