Skunktail, son of Briarstar and brother to Pitchstar is hardly the kind of cat that befits a family with as strong a legacy as his. He is entirely unmotivated to do more than the bare minimum and takes life one paw step at a time. Recently he's learned he is a father, meeting his grown kits and bonding with them with a longing to have been part of their lives more properly than he was. It's left him with mixed emotions, especially given his current infatuation with the clan's senior Lead Warrior: Frostbite.
The opposite of Skunktail in both poise and appearance, Frostbite is diligent and hardworking with a snowy coat inherited from his mountain born family he long since left behind. He has a previous litter with Flamingmoth who are nearing warrior age.

They two have had a back and forth for a while, neither really saying anything outright. Skunktail blatantly attempting courting whole Frostbite withdrew due to previous pains and trauma relating to heartbreak but eventually the snow melts, the flowers bloom, and two idiots confess...

A pretty longhaired pure white she-cat with heterochromatic eyes At birth, Paleis the spitting image of Frostbite, a kitten of purest snow white. The resemblance continues for a little white, until her right eye eventually turns green. Although technically a longhaired cat, her fur is more of a medium length, with a notably feathery tail and thicker fur around her neck. She has quite soft fur and has a tendency to get leaves and other plantlife tangled within it. Beneath her thicker fur hides a smaller frame, slightly closer in size to her aunt Starlingheart than Frostbite. As a kit, she will be a slightly awkward looking child, with a head that seems a little too big for the rest of her body. A certain degree of awkwardness in regards to her appearance will be retained into apprenticeship, but by the time she has almost finished her training, she'll have grown more into her body, becoming quite pretty and pleasing to look at.

She is quite amiable and tries to treat people with respect and kindness and tries to see the best in all - even if they don't necessarily deserve it. Despite her kind nature, Pale does not always throw herself into social situations unless she is drawn into them by another. Most of this is down to her own insecurities - primarily which stems from her deafness and how she personally believes other cats perceive her. Another insecurity stems from her parents and the legacy she feels she needs to live up to.

Whilst immensely proud of her heritage and family, she often feels as though it is both a blessing and a curse. She is proud of her family's place in ShadowClan's history on both sides but also feels burdened by it too. She quietly believes there is a certain expectation for her and her littermates to live up to and that some of her clanmates watch them intently to see how they grow.

Although kind and amiable, Pale finds it hard to make true friends. Again, her own insecurities hold her back on this front, as she worries about her stammer and whether they genuinely like her for who she is rather than who she is related to. When she does deem someone to be a close friend, she becomes very loving and protective of them. And if anything ever happened to a friend on her watch then she would be quick to speak out.

Being a kind soul, Pale won't be one to immediately push for battle. She would prefer handling things more diplomatically but would recognise force is sometimes necessary, even if she isn't so comfortable with that idea herself.

LH BLACK/CHOCOLATE TABBY WITH LOW WHITE
Pitchkit lives up to his name, a dark tabby cat with a pelt alike both the night and the leader whose legacy he bears. Near-pitch stripes slash across his pelt, trailing down his back and curling around his limbs. He bears the distinctive spiked fur of his grandmother, an untamed mess of prickly tufts. Though he is on the smaller side, his mass of spiky fur fluffs up to make him seem far larger. White stands out like splashes snow across his face and belly, claiming only two of his back paws. Most distinctively, amid the dim shades of his face sits vibrant green eyes, so bright as to seem almost blinding. They are unsettling, especially in the dark of night - they seem to almost glow.

One would be hard-pressed to find a cat less suited to carrying Briarstar's legacy than Pitchkit. Despite his relation to two founding leaders, his naming after one, the young tomcat seems to hold no ambitions of his own. Neither does Frostbite's status as lead warrior motivate the child to make anything of himself; he is content to waste every day with a carefree grin. Pitchkit's focus lies in the simple things in life: worldly things and good times. He is no survivalist; he would rather sneak out and have fun than attend to any sort of responsibility.

Pitchkit has a tendency to hoard - and the best things to hoard are those which are stolen. Anything a clanmate covets is worth something to kit the kit simply because of their attachment to it. If they love it, then he wants it. His favorite thing to steal, though, is food. The most precious resource of all, the most treasured rarity among the marshlands. Pitchkit is selfish; he wants it all. Wants to never go hungry in the way that all his elders talk about. He is born into plenty, a newleaf child, and he will take that plenty as his birthright. Anyone who tries to take the stolen things he claims as his will be met with snapping teeth and a venomous glare.

More than simply being lazy, he is also drawn consistently to trouble. His tongue bears a barb, an innocent sort of cruelty. He enjoys riling others up, arguing for the sake of argument, and altogether causing all sorts of mischief. Though his sense of humor leans on the sadistic side, he is disinclined to go farther than harsh teasing and harmful pranks. And of course, coward that he is, any attempts at retribution will be met with whining and fawning. I didn't mean it, seems the favored phrase of the kit, ever-helpful as he gets himself into more and more trouble.

Deep down, there is a restlessness in Pitchkit. Maybe that is why he is so inclined to troublemaking, to theiving and arguing. He feels trapped, often, within the marshes. The grass is always greener everywhere that isn't home. He loves his dads, of course, but he can't help but wonder what it would have been like to bear a different sort of legacy, one not so marked by tragedy. His name is a self-fulfilling prophecy, one of starvation and cynicism, and it is one he wants nothing more than to escape.

PLOTS
— will witness the frogsplosion and be confused by the destruction of their newfound food source. why would the leader take away all their food? he is only a kit; he can't understand. he will be angry and hurt - there is a strong chance for lingering resentment over this decision.
— speaks with a mild stutter (will be researched & written as respectfully as i can) that worsens when emotional. may get frustrated at his own stutter, but tries not to show it in public. will put nettles in the nest of anyone who makes fun of him for it and hold a grudge against them forever <3
— the transition to apprenticehood will be difficult. he will resent the loss of garaunteed food from the code and likely react to this by hoarding. it is also possible that he may get his apprenticeship delayed due to his troublemaking tendencies, possibly even due to running away the night before his ceremony to avoid it.
— will likely develop crossclan friendships as an expression of his desire to get out of the marshes. i like the idea of a delinquent crossclan friendgroup meeting up at fourtrees at night (until they get caught, that is)

ACTIVITY: pitch will be very casual!! i have a lot of characters & swan will be staying my main in shadowclan so he will be a bit of a backburner character. i'll mostly just aim to keep him on the census, with a loose goal of 2-3 posts per month

    He will find training to be harder than he expected. With already being bigger then the average apprentice getting his body to do things how he wants will be a change at first. Wanting to be the best apprentice he'll want to overtrain and do as much around camp as he can in his spare time.

    Quailkit will start to become uncomfortable with his he/him pronouns and romance in general. Avoiding the fluidity of his peers Quailkit will seek the company of older warriors. Until he can understand his feelings about himself and sexuality.

    Warrior: —
    After learning he prefers They/them pronouns and demiromantic he's a lot more relaxed and at peace with himself.

    Quailkit as a warrior is more laidback but still helpful. He doesn't avoid any cat anymore, giving his time freely to anyone who wants it. Still a high energy cat but instead of running around camp looking for something to do Quailkit will seek to build connections with his peers that he missed out on as an apprentice.

PHYSICAL MENTAL CONNECTIONS EXTRA & FUTURE IDEAS
  • ━ Fluffy longhaired black and red tabby chimera with low white and copper eyes / REFERENCE
    Quillkit's appearance seems unbefitting of his name. Thick pelted, fluffy and wild it tangles all too easily without proper maintenance, which he scarcely provides. Primarily black, he fits in well in Shadowclan, meeting the image of what a generic Shadowclanner should look like. He'd blend into the night perfectly where his fur not broken up by splashes of dark ginger tabby patches on each shoulder, the stripe that reaches midway down his spine and the drips of it hanging off the end half underside of his heavily plumed tail. The only things that stand out more than the vibrant orange is the white of his back paws, their soles and the front half of the underside of his tail.

    His head and face are similarly colored being primarily black with a white chin and nose blaze. However on top of his head is a quill-like puff of orange fur that he often has to press back with a paw. This orange on his head trails down like a mane of horse-hair and is connected to the thick stripe on his back. His ears are on the smaller side and rounded, only looking smaller thanks to the long black ribbons of fur streaming from the base of them and the tips of them and contrasted by the orange fur inside his ears. His eyes are perpetually sleepy and half-lidded, colored a vibrant copper eyes that in the darkness of Shadowclan territory look almost reddish.

    ━ Easy to get along with, he usually just nods and listens
    ━ Holds grudges but doesn't really do anything about them
  • ━ I like to think he'll be a total dweeb whose only real friends are his parents
    ━ Jack of all trades, master of none- he's just sort of okay-ish at everything and doesn't excel in any particular field. He is Just some Guy™
    ━ Design was inspired by the red winged blackbird
    ━ By the time he's an adult, he'd mostly be driven by nonchalance. Still very impatient but instead of letting it bother him he just kind of takes a few deep breaths and lets it go instead of bothering him forever
    ━ I want him to be the kind of guy that walks in, says something, doesn't explain and leaves
    ━ Maybe gets a little more verbal about his thoughts though, kind of gave up on the being overly-polite thing cause like hey if everyone else is spewing insults then why should he hold back?
    ━ Starts to understand the feelings of those around him a little more. He's still not good at responding to their feelings though or comforting anyone ever
    ━ Very much leans into his laziness. He does exactly what is required of him and will do no more, not an over-achiever kind of dude. He'd like to keep skating by life in the background as Just some Guy™
