GANG GANG |☀| chatting with thunderclanners

WE HAVE YET TO CRASH ✧°.☀ —————————————————————————————
With the chatter of the Gathering and Fourtrees fading away behind them, Lightstrike found himself gravitating closer to his Clanmates than ever and side-eyeing the other Clans doubtfully. Frankly, he had no idea who most of them even were. There was Smogmaw and Orangeblossom, but that was about it. SkyClan had even brought actual kittypets along. Unbelievable.

For once, the golden tom was short of words as he padded alongside his Clanmates, green gaze occasionally flickering over them. Nightbird and Flamewhisker would be in charge now, he supposed.

While he could hear the quiet murmuring of cats around him, the silence felt too heavy. "So, how long do... you think we'll be gone?" the tom said to no one in particular, voice low.

——— before the storm!.
———————— ————————
His mind was in the fucking gutter.

Stormywing had shouldered him away from the conversation with Leopardtongue. All too soon- he had been growing close to what he had actually wanted to tell her. Uncharacteristically silent for the first few yawning moments after leaving, his ears twitched as Lightstrike drew closer, words uttered towards the rest of the Thunderclanners. It seemed to shock him out of his askance looks to the ground, vision snapping towards Lightstrike.

Forcing his fur to lay flat, he responded with a quiet tone. "I'm... not sure. I haven't ever made the trek to the Moonstone or beyond." He admitted, vision turning forwards. A small seed of doubt settled in his stomach. He glanced towards those of the other clan- his vision did snag briefly on Orangeblossom, who was familiar. He looked back towards Lightstrike, trying to lighten the mood with a perhaps ill-timed joked. "Why, you have a hot date or something waiting for you?"

"speech"

He could feel his stomach flipping and twisting in brief nervous knots but his worries subside when Lightstrike speaks up, it earns a small thoughtful hum from Hailstorm before turning to glance over at Batwing who had replied first and the snowy tom couldn't help but silently agree that he had no idea how long it would take them to get to the mountains where lungwort grew. "Depends. How fast can you walk?" Its meant to stir lighthearted conversation as they walk along, his gaze shifting briefly to Little Wolf before he says "I say a moon or so," It was simply a guess, he had no idea how long the trek would take for them to arrive to the mountains and he can only hope that all of them arrive there safely, he would push aside clan differences for this. He believes only a fool would try to cause arguments and stir trouble within the group of travelling cats, his ear flicks at the thought.

He finds himself quietly sputtering at what Batwing says next and his ears lay flat against his head, sure, it was a joke but the warrior couldn't help but glance to the side once more trying his best not to have a stupid grin on his maw. No, no, it wasn't funny. Focus Hailstorm, he grumbles mentally to himself but his gaze turns to Lightstrike waiting to see what his answer would be and has to bite down on his tongue not wanting to piggyback on the joke that Batwing had offered. His whiskers twitch lightly simply in silent amusement at "dates" back at home, he could imagine a few of his clanmates probably waiting or wanting to get back to their "hot dates" as Batwing described but here Hailstorm simply finds himself content. "I'm sure a few are," He offers no intending it in an ill way but continuing the conversation.

it should not be unexpected that nightbird would hang closer to the thunderclanners. gathering after gathering, she rarely strayed from their section. mingling had never been her strong suit.

lightstrike was the first to break up the murmurs with a question, her ears twitched but unfortunately she had no answer. they would be gone until they had gathered enough lungwort to save their clans, who knew if it would be weeks or moons before they returned. batwing fell short to give a solid answer as well, the unpredictability of this whole excursion finally beginning to bare its teeth.

in his typical fashion, batwing poked at the young warrior in what she could only think was an attempt to lighten the mood. although she wasn't sure how effective reminding them all of the cats they left behind would be to that cause. "spare him your jealousy, batwing. one day you'll find someone willing to wait for you."

nightbird is a small black smoke molly with pale silver eyes. a loner turned thunderclanner, her loyalty and drive to provide for her clan is unwavering. however, she is not known for harboring a bleeding heart, instead equipped with sarcastically fueled wit, brutal honesty, and a sharply edged tongue.

Each pawstep that separated them from Fourtrees and their clan hurt more than the last. She felt as though she was abandoning them...leaving them to die. What if they were too late returning with the cure? What if they didn't return at all? She turns her head, instinctively looking for Flycatcher beside her, but he was not there...and he wouldn't be again for a long time. Her ears pin backwards against her skull for a brief moment, before she forcibly shoves them upwards.

There were voices behind her...her clanmates were discussing how long their journey would take. If we return. she thinks bitterly, but she keeps the dark thought inside. "Why, you have a hot date or something waiting for you?" Batwing's question, though it was originally meant in a teasing manner, struck her hard. None of her clanmates were leaving their mate behind. Little Wolf was leaving her children behind, but she had been separated from Blazestar since the Warrior Code was implemented.

She pulls the corner of her lip up, about to shoot back a snarky response, but she decides against it. She knew Batwing was only trying to lighten the mood with a joke. Instead of speaking, she let out a huff and pulled ahead of the group, enough to remain out of earshot. Emotions were high tonight...it was best to cover as much ground as they could.

Batwing was the first to respond, earning his undivided attention and a small frown. Of course, his answer was uncertainty. He hadn't expected a straight answer, but... it would have been nice. Then came Hailstorm's comment, nearly at the same time as Batwing's, and he snorted, all too eager to lean into the jokes. "Faster than you, I bet. An apprenticeship of hiding from Grumps over there has prepared me for this moment." He gave Nightbird a somewhat snide look.

Then, looking back to Batwing, he let out a dramatic sigh, chin lifting to the sky. "Oh, yeah. My one true love. How could I ever cope? Burnstorm, I miss you already!" he raised his voice to a call then, head swiveling back to the forest they were steadily leaving behind. "Keep my nest warm for me!" Truthfully, he would miss his brute of a friend. None of his close friends would be joining him on this journey.

Maybe if the journey was not hanging over their heads as an unknown factor, Stormpaw would have found it in herself to joke around. She follows her mother's lead as she has become accustomed to do for this experience. She watches Batwing and her eyes flick over to Lightstrike, whose holler back at the cats they left makes her fur stand on end. She looks for Flamewhisker for guidance and sees that her mother is going ahead.

"Do you think we'll see animals that we've never seen before?" She wonders aloud, keeping pace with Flamewhisker as she glances at the back of the group.

Little Wolf follows the rest of the ThunderClanners quietly, her green eyes scanning the distant horizon as she walks. It felt strange to go this far from the forest that she had known as home for the entirety of her life. She is in a similar state as most of her clanmates. She recognizes Smogmaw and Orangeblossom, of course, they were the deputies of their respective clans and then there was the medicine cat apprentice that she had seen at the gatherings many times. Magpiepaw. She is glad that he is here, but she cant help but wonder just how much help he would be. He looked so young, after all… Still, she knows better than to judge a tree by its bark. His own mentor had been a similar age when she stepped up as a full fledged medicine cat, after all. There were other cats that were familiar from border patrols too of course. The calico Molly from RiverClan whose father had embarrassed her, the dusty brown she-cat with the red collar from SkyClan that she often saw hanging around with Blazestar. Needledrift, who she knew from the marshes and Cherrypaw who she had met at the last gathering and knew was Orangeblossoms daughter. Most others are a mystery to her, however.

Her attention drifts back to her clanmates at Batwings teasing words and then the sound of Burnstorm's name. Her whiskers twitch in amusement "I didn't know you and my son were so close" she teases lightly. It is no secret that she herself has no one waiting for her back home but her eyes instinctively find Flamewhisker and she speeds up slightly to match pace with the fire-pelted she cat. Momentarily, she allows their pelts to brush in a friendly gesture and if they were to make eye contact she would offer a sad, knowing, smile. It must've been hard for her to say goodbye to her mate.

——— before the storm!.
———————— ————————
The barely constrained snicker from Hailstorm caused a tiny grin to settle on his face- but the tension was still tangible. Surely, one of the two lead warriors was going to say something rude or tell him off. What was the point in keeping themselves anxiously wound about getting back when they had to focus on what's head, not behind? Despite the thoughts in his head, Nightbird was speaking, her tone as even as normal.

His head whipped around as if he had been struck, lagging in his steps for a moment and staring at her with round, saucer-like eyes. His ears flushed and he lengthened his strides, catching back up to where he had been in there little group. "I have no idea what you're talking about." A huff left him. Oh, he knew, he wasn't sure if Stormywing had recognized what had happened- Stars, he didn't even know if Leopard knew what he had been trying to tell her before they left.

Luckily for him, however, Lightstrike was shouting back towards Fourtrees. Smoothing his ruffled fur, he let the grin split his muzzle again. He bumped his shoulder against Lightstrike teasingly, his ears perking as he turned back ahead. "I bet we'll all be back before we know it." He claimed aloud, confidence surging. They got this, right? He'd get to go home and see Leopardtongue, and tell her everything that happened?

"speech"

The reaction Batwing had after Nightbird's sharp response to his friends attempt at a joke makes the pale furred tom wince in the slightest, he decides that he'll take up Batwing's other side giving him a gentle bump of their shoulders and offering a smile to his dear friend. What Lightstrike says next in response to the joke is what makes Hailstorm chuckle in amusement "I'm sure he can hear you too," The older warrior muses as he walks in tow with the duo, another amused mrrow leaving him at what Little Wolf's says only to see her brush against Flamewhisker. What Batwing says next makes the mountain of a pale fur nod in agreement, they had to remain a little optimistic during this trip of theirs and keep each other alive. Perhaps not sane but alive.

"Definitely and then we can all be reunited with our one true loves." Hailstorm adds in a lighter and lower voice not wanting anyone to snap at him for keeping the conversation going, the thought of a one true love waiting for for him at home was a nice thought that made him feel a little fuzzy on the inside but he knows there is not. And he could care less at the time, he's more focused on getting the lungwort and then the next part would be returning home. He's not homesick just yet, he thinks as he continues to amble along.
