pafp Get loved and appreciated, loser || Hug

Garlicpaw feels stress like she's never felt it before. She can't stop thinking of her lost siblings, of her mother. Her heart hurts still, but she's able to put up a facade now. She can pretend to smile and being silly comes naturally to her, so its easy to pretend she's okay when she's not. When it all becomes too much to bear, she tries to find an escape. Something to help her weather the tears that threaten to fall at any moment.

Today, her choice of distraction is another cat. She doesn't want to bother her siblings, they're probably busy anyways. She's sure Flintpaw wouldn't want a hug from her either, after everything that happened. Her mind drifts to Magpiepaw, who she hadn't spoken to yet since he came home. Which was a shame, because she liked him. She felt bad when she heard nobody went to walk him home, but it wasnt like she could have done it herself. But now that her grief has become somewhat manageable, she decides to give the wobbly apprentice her attention.

She spots him going about his chores, and immediately trots over to him and engulfs him in her forelegs in a BIG HUG.

"Despite everything that happened while you were gone.... I'm glad you made it home safe." She says. "I think you deserve a hug."

It was comforting to hold someone tight. She only wished Halfshade were here so she could give her the hug she had wanted to ever since she had fallen ill. She has conflicted feelings about what Starlingheart did, but being mad at her was like saying she'd rather Flintpaw had died....And she didn't want that either.

Magpiepaw does not enjoy sorting herbs, he isn't sure what benign fool would - there was nothing soothing about their stores being in disorder, he and Starlingheart put things where they are meant to be and keep it organized well, but nothing would prepare them for a mischievous kitten. The heathen in question had been readily scolded and sent back to the nursery to pout in dejection and he had taken up the task of fixing the damage in his mentor's stead. He felt a strong desire to help more than he had before, to do more, to take the burden off her as much as he can - he'd always felt this way, but it got stronger in his absence and he only wanted to make right what he felt he had wronged her of. She'd dealt with so much loss, he had not been there for her and it hurt. So if helping ease the pain meant going through the herbs that had been knocked into a jumbled pile by harried kitten paws then so be it.
He took the bundle outside in the sun so he could see it more clearly and also get a bit of warmth in his dark pelt - leafbare was coming and he already felt the chill. It enveloped him at times. Enveloped...

Magpiepaw lifts his head in quiet confusion, the sun paled in comparison to the heat that came from fur pressing to his. He is being held, spotted paws looping around to hold him in place and pull him into cream and blue striped fur.
"...Garlicpaw..." He greets, tone quiet but not very bothered by this sudden and awkward display. "...you are being agglutinate. Did you need something?"
She explains what she's doing after having done so, it was strangely less ridiculous and more warming than he expected. Being missed was nice, a few clanmates had missed him - some hadn't, but it was good to know the majority was glad he had come back. The insides of his ears burn, embarrassed, pink darkening. "...I'll allow it.."

Basilkit watched the two and their awkward display of affection to one another. It was not everyday the kit got to wittness his clanmates showing fondness for one another. Hugs where a rare thing to see. It looked comforting and...somewhat nice though. He wondered if..he could get one too?. Basilkit was curious in his wonder over how it felt to be held like that, to be embraced. It was worth a shot wasn't it?. Basilkit was a bold one who was not shy or afraid of rejection. If his brother was here he would disagree and would call him out for always seeking attention from all and everyone of his clanmates at any given second he got. Basilkit didn't exactly felt guilty about that though. So he decided to take his chance.

" Ouch...my paw it hurts..." he lied as he jumped himself over to the two with his right frontpaw held up in the air, interrupting these two apprentices moment without even thinking twice about it. Looking between the two he gave them a teary look hoping to gain their sympathy in doing so. " I...think a hug could maybe make it feel better? " he looked at Garlicpaw now since she was the one who had offered the hug to their medicine cat apprentice so thought she might be the one who was easiest to trick between the two to get what he wanted. He sniffled as he looked at her trying to look as gullible as possible.

☾. . ° ✦ Being a cuddly and otherwise physically affectionate warrior in a Clan that usually didn't like it so much was truly an unique bit of dilemma. Mirepurr had learned to accept it, to understand they were the minority and not everybody dealt with their feelings by squeezing the very life out of their friend. (Whether they actually remembered to not initiate intimacy like that was a whole different monster.)

That was precisely why Mirepurr took note of two apprentices- well, hugging it out. Magpiepaw didn't seem so appreciative of it, but then Basilkit came around to make up for it.

They let out a hearty laugh at his attempt at gaining pity points in hopes of redeeming it for a hug. "If you could heal us with just hugs, Magpiepaw... how easy would that make leafbare?" No worry over plants withering under the frosty weight of snow.

Out of all of her siblings, Halfkit had missed Garlicpaw the most. She had always been nice to her and her siblings, had never sent an accusing glance her way and she had always been a willing participant in her games. She was fun and she was kind and everything that Halfkit could have ever hoped for in an older sister. Magpiepaw wasn't really a cat she was familiar with, but he was Starlinghearts apprentice she had heard, and Starlingheart was nice so she supposed he couldn't be that bad either. Though her mind does immediately wander to Granitepelt, who she had once thought the same thing of. He was Applepaw's mentor, a lead warrior and Starlingheart's mate and look how that turned out. She no longer felt she could trust cats based off of the words of others - no. From now on she would have to forge her own opinions of those around her.

So she watches quietly as Garlicpaw offers to hug Magpiepaw and she watches as he accepts and she wonders why. Was Magpiepaw sad about something? Her gaze flashes to Basilkit as he complains about a pain in his paw, as he says that a hug would make him feel better too and she rolls her eyes. "Maybe later, Miststep will kiss it all better, if you ask nicely!" she chirps unhelpfully. Mirepurr says something similar, wishful thinking about how if hugs could heal then leaf-bare would be so much easier. "Is something wrong with you?" she asks innocently, turning her mismatched gaze to Magpiepaw. Was he sick and was that why her sister was hugging him?
