  • Foxtail had one less thing to worry about, with the graduation of his first apprentice (quite a success, despite all his fears...). However, the challenge he had left was no small pawful of work. In an effort to try to give him a break, some relief, she'd gone out of her way to beckon Sunpaw to accompany her. Maybe some time away from her mentor, who she was clearly upset was her mentor, would encourage her to loosen up.

It isn't really working... a grumpy child with a stubborn chip in her shoulder. Lichenstar doesn't mind... she'd had Dipperfrost and Brookstorm as apprentices for star's sake. The most aloof, snarky pair she could've juggled at an already tumultuous time. Sunpaw wouldn't be able to rile her up.... "How's your.... training been going," she asks, staring at the river with ears sat forward to listen to its bubbling.

The river grows wilder.... more demanding... it must be the season's changes... it foretells something unsteady to come. Or maybe that's just paranoia, remembering winters past.

Being called to walk with Lichenstar had, quite honestly, been a mixed bag of emotions for her. For several fleeting seconds, she had a cold chill of dread that maybe she was about to get in trouble for real this time - but even that feeling had been quickly replaced by a quite unnerve that she now had to be on her best behavior. A thing that was very difficult for her to do even on the best of days.

But she also doesn't know what Lichenstar wants, which only complicates the feeling. They've gone to the river, one of her favorite places, and she watches it now as Lichenstar asks.

"It's..." she doesn't want to just say fine like she hasn't been learning anything, but it's not as though she has very strong feelings about Foxtail either. He's not bad, which is to say he surpasses all of her minimum expectations of a mentor. But there's nothing about him that she's found to be particularly outstanding, even though he must be in some way if he's a lead warrior. She just... hasn't seen it. The effort of curtailing her tongue makes her tail flick sharply, but she tries anyway. "I think I'm doing well," she answers diplomatically. "Why do you ask, Lichenstar?"
