Florabreeze often wondered what made others decide to join SkyClan, whether it be ex-kittypets, ex-daylight warriors or ex-rogues. Everyone had a reason for it and call her curious or nosy but she wanted to know, more so she wanted to dive into life before SkyClan. There were warriors here that she knew weren’t always full-time skyclanners, what was their life before this like? Was it full of hardships or was it rather luxurious? A change of pace from the mundane. Doeblaze was one of those warriors that she wondered about, she knew that she must have had some kind of outsider experience since she went by Bobbie up until these recent moons. Looking at her now the daylight warrior struggled to imagine that she lived any life of luxury, maybe she was a rogue?

The day carried less heat to it in the mornings now, she guessed that it had something to do with Leaf-fall. It was only early days yet the slow transition of the colour of the leaves indicated that change was coming. She hoped for that mild weather to continue as the sun steadily rose. Finding Doeblaze wasn’t necessarily a difficult task, the she-cat always seemed steadfast in her routines, floating from one space of camp to another. Today Florabreeze had managed to catch her by the fresh-kill pile, she made no attempt to hide any steps as she approached.

“Doeblaze! Is now a bad time to talk?” An ear flicks as she meows, her tone not carrying any indication that this would be a particularly serious topic. Cheery demeanour on display as always as she broke her gaze from the warrior to the fresh-kill pile. Trying to figure out what was the best way to phrase her question. “You're not SkyClan born, right?” She hoped that wasn’t a question that Doeblaze would take offence to, she didn’t have the thought that it could be taken in any form of judgemental way.

“Were you from Twolegplace before SkyClan?” That seemed like a good way to dance around any preconceived notions of her mysterious past, any potential group that she could have hailed from can come from there afterall. With a twitch of her tail she paused, taking a moment to think before she spoke once more. This was not a common occurrence for the maine coon but she really wanted to make sure she was handling this right in case it was a delicate subject. “What was your life from before… all this like? Back at Twolegplace?” She grinned, hoping that her friendly demeanour could at least be disarming.

Breaking from camp with the dawn meant that by the time the morning's mild mist had burned away and the sun had begun its dependable rise, Doeblaze was often already making a return. She settles a small but decently plump mouse onto the generously mounded ( for now ) fresh - kill pile, nodding a silent affirmation as her apprentices skitter away to take advantage of the snatch of downtime. The sound of Florabreeze's unhidden pawsteps sets her ears to twitching and her head turns so quick it's a wonder she doesn't set it on a spin, her lone eye blinking in a more friendly manner than her body language might indicate.

" Florabreeze, hey, " she mrrows in greeting with a quick dip of the head, adding, " Not at all. My apprentices'll probably appreciate the break. " Her raspy meow carries a trace of amusement, partially aimed at herself—she has the sense to be at least somewhat aware her working habits can seem a little overzealous. Half - stepping so she's not immediately in the way of the fresh - kill pile, the tabby settles back onto her haunches, forepaws kneading absently at the pine - layered ground below as she awaits Florabreeze's next words.

" I'm not, " she mews agreeably enough; her former name had made that obvious enough, and her collar before it—though she thinks that was before Florabreeze's time. Has it really been that long? she wonders absently, before she forces a refocus with a quick clearing of her throat. The dark tabby's next question makes the broad, tabby - washed bridge of her muzzle rumple slightly—as much control as she can exert over other aspects of herself, she has always worn her thoughts on her face. The warrior meows, slightly more drawn - out and hesitant, " Ye - e - es. "

" Oh, um, " she mutters, caught somewhat off guard by Florabreeze's disarming grin and delicate questioning. Her life before SkyClan . . . once, it had been a constant presence at the forefront of her mind, before it was replaced by a greater purpose ( and arguably greater tragedy ). " Well, I lived with my Twoleg, my mother, and my sister Crochet—you've probably seen her around camp, " she begins, a slight furrow appearing between her brows. The story is considerably more halting than those she usually tells. " I mean, it was a good life. One day, I just . . . left. " Though she tries to keep her voice even and cool, she can't help the jagged pause in which hang many things unspoken. " And somewhere along the way, I ended up here, you know? "

Kite's been on one patrol with Doeblaze, that is the extent of their time together. Kite doesn't know much about the lilac tabby but through their mission to educate themself on the history of Skyclan they have grasped Doeblaze's mate had been Orangestar's predecessor. The shadowy feline is keenly interested in Doeblaze, the tabby would like to know more about the she-cat. The interest has bloomed out of a desire to know the fixtures of this clan better, strengthen connections with those who made the history Kite is so hungry for. It is this (and the need to see Florabreeze) that drew Kite away from the stump towards the two.

Were you from Twolegplace before Skyclan? Small ears prick upwards as Kite sidles up besides Florabreeze, flicking her tail against Florabreeze's side in a silent greeting. To Doeblaze, they direct their best attempt mimicry at a friendly smile which appears lopsided. Kite wonders what brought upon this conversation and with a well-disguised shiver they think, Could she be thinking of leaving the comfort of her... den? Selfishly Kite hopes this could be true, after all their nest was big enough for another; but for now Kite puts the thought away into the recesses of their mind, to reflect upon later. For now, Kite listens quietly and hopefully not too intently.

I just... left. Kite's head tilts and their tail twistd curiously as they notice the hitch in this sentence, and though Kite is wishing to know the reason why, they do not mind if Florabreeze is the one to question Doeblaze. Kite knew there must be a reason, an important one for Doeblaze's voice to hobble as such. But though the need to know is nearly overpowering, Kite knows they wouldn't share theirs and so they only input quietly, "I left too." As soon as the words left their maw they winced, realizing this was obvious- it has only been a moon since she joined. Kite falls silent with a subdued and strangled sigh. They would just listen from now on.

'Just leaving' sounds a lot simpler than Edenberry can imagine it actually is. Yes, in theory, you could just walk away and never return but... Hadn't Doeblaze just admitted to abandoning her family in the process? Her real flesh and blood- Wouldn't you do the same? The striped feline offers a small frown, replacing it with an insincere smile as they come to sit beside the deer-like molly. It's an interesting idea to consider, though they think that leaving Hazelbeam and Spicepaw behind after all their love and kindness might be a little too much to bear.

What if Hazelbeam never came back to SkyClan? Or if Spicepaw decided one day that this was all too much for her and stopped showing up too? Then they'd be alone again... no family to cling to. At least, maybe Doeblaze found comfort in the form of her kits, or maybe she'd always been reaching for that comfort again; sinking her claws into Blazestar the moment she could, just to have him torn away.

Kind of felt like Raindrop leaving... at least they could say they might actually see the masked cat again. Their clan-mate's best hope was to wait for StarClan to claim her. "You don't regret it," they ask, glancing between her and Kite, who has confessed to the same choice. "The promise of food and warmth in the winter.... Your kin....?"

Crochet may've found her way back out here but it might not be a good thing... it meant a higher exposure to danger and the tiny kitten, Eden, had found that out the hard way where petal-pink scars wrapped around their face and cascaded down their back.
