MY WORLDS ON FIRE, HOW 'BOUT YOURS?
THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT AND I NEVER GET BORED."

Johnnyflame was not not having a great day. He’d been feeling ‘bleh’ for lack of a better word, sluggish, like he hadn’t slept nearly as long as he actually had. To make matters worse, he hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning either- not because he was in a rush to leave or running late, but because sitting at his bowl and looking at his kibble had left his stomach churning unhappily.

Leafbare was on it’s way, and with the cooling of the whether he supposed it was normal for cats to be getting sick. He only hoped he hadn’t caught something too dangerous. He’d debated not going in at all that day to avoid getting anyone else ill, but if he ended up out for a few days he didn’t want anyone worrying about him. At the very least, he had to let Silversmoke know he wouldn’t be around for a bit.

Only, by the time he reached camp he was feeling better. Just a quick bug, then? Or maybe he’d eaten something weird the night prior?

Only, by the time mid-day came around, the feeling was back. He was pretty certain the fact that he hadn’t eaten anything that morning was partially to blame, but he also wasn’t all that keen on using clan resources to feed himself.

Which is why he considered himself lucky when another daylight warrior happened to walk into camp with a bag of treats lifted from their twolegs nest, looking to share with the clan.

”Oh, you're a lifesaver, mate! Thanks!” he said as the cat tipped the bag and little pile of treats fell out, before moving on to the next cat. Johnny let out a little chirp of happiness as he leaned down to take a bite- only for the scent to hit him like a brick wall.

And then, he gagged.

A paw flew up to cover his mouth, but it was more out of embarrassment than fear of actually puking- he had nothing in his stomach but bile right now anyways. Instead, he stumbled backwards, away from the smell that had his stomach curling and acid rising in the back of his throat. ”Shit. W-what-” his words were cut off by another retching as he dry heaved once more, mortified at his own lack of self control.

What the fuck was wrong with him?

Fireflyglow had been a dead weight these past few days. After the birthing of Crowsight's children, and Orangestar's litter as well, Fireflyglow had found that he had no energy to get up and move. He would, perhaps, make dirt and drink some water from puddles here and there when he needed. It's not like he desired death, he just didn't have the energy to take care of himself like he used to.

Today is another day when Greeneyes had told him he needed to eat, even if it was a small sparrow. His stomach growls from intense hunger, his overweight body unused to the starvation methods he was currently heading his way onto. He's on the way to the prey pile so he can pick around when he hears a prominent gag. The sound brings back memories of rotting flesh, and Fireflyglow has to press his eyes closed to shut the memories out with a sharp inhale of bated breath.

"..What's up with you, Johnny?" He finally struggles out the question, his own worry for his clanmate winning out against the dwelling depression that threatened to swallow him alive. If it wasn't for Her blessing to remain upon these lands, he would have died long ago. "It ain't like you, gaggin' over your favorite treats." He ponders aloud, ragged and matted pelt shifting as he lifts a tiny blackbird from the fresh kill pile. He blinks towards his friend, exhaustion weighing heavily on his shoulders.

"Come on, 'John. To my den you go." He mutters softly, not waiting for the tom's approval or denial before he begins sauntering on heavy paws to the hazel bush he called home.

”I-I don’t know.” he admitted, trying not to breathe in through his nose in case he caught another whiff of the treats. He could tell just by looking at the other cats munching away on them that there was nothing wrong with the offered food, but to be fair, he’d already known that, hadn’t he? This ‘off’ feeling had been going on all day– this was just the straw to break the camel's back. ”Been feeling weird since I woke up. Couldn’t eat my breakfast this morning, either.”

”Come on, John. to my den you go.”

”I–” but Fireflyglow was already walking away toward the hazelbush, leaving the bobtail to catch up while hoping someone was nice enough to clean up the kibble he’d left behind.

”I should go back to my twolegs.” Johnny reasoned as the seal point slipped inside their den, his own paws lingering on the threshold, hesitating.. ”There’s no point in you wasting herbs on me when my twolegs can use their own healer to get me well. And I don’t need you to catch whatever it is that’s ailing me.”
