The rain continued to pour outside, having sent all the cats to their dens for most of the day. Ivypaw found herself curled up in her nest near the front of the den, watching the rain pitter patter outside. "Think it'll stop anytime soon?" She muses to nobody in particular, eyes still glued to the stormy weather outside. There wasn't much that could be done in this weather, and she'd already mentally assigned herself the task of asking her mentor about going out this evening once the rain finally stopped to get the day's training done.

  • ooc. — this is set in the apprentices' den but the warriors could have darted in for shelter as well when the rain stopped on account of lack of apprentices !!

It wasn't all that long ago that Leafcrackle had been an apprentice herself, the den floor familiar beneath her dampened paws. She'd been caught out when it started pouring and the apprentices' den had been the nearest place of refuge.

"I hope so," the new warrior chimed in as she watches the droplets pelt the earth from the mouth of the den. "I'm just glad it's not snow." She added, a shiver coursing through her muted tortoiseshell pelt. She felt as if just the mention of the dreaded cold stuff would curse them with a rough leaf-bare, but hopefully she was just letting superstition get the best of her.

The rhythmic sound of the rain made her eyelids feel heavy above her golden gaze, tempting her with sleep. Alas, she wasn't a kit anymore and the days of naps whilst thunder rolled overhead were behind her.

Moisture clung to the cinnamon tabby's fur as she burst into the apprentice's den, her belly low to the ground as she found an empty nest close to the entrance to settle upon. Her eyes briefly scanned the room in search of her youngest, but when she couldn't see them straight away, she had to presume they had been caught out in the bad weather somewhere within the territory. She swallowed a lump in her throat before concluding that they would probably be fine, that the other three had witnessed rainy days all the time and one even swam - so how bad could a few droplets truly be?

"There's plenty of space for snow..." She mewed quietly as the conversation continued, blinking slowly towards Leafcrackle and Ivypaw. At least for Ferndance, this Leafbare was shaping up to be much less eventful than the previous one. "We should play a little game while we wait for this to end," the tabby suggested, wrapping her tail around her paws in an attempt to keep them warm. "Something just silly and goofy, you know?" It would certainly beat discussion of the weather, which Ferndance didn't think she could spin into something interesting unless she managed to convince the whole den that it was raining frogs and toads outside.

From the depths of the apprentice's den, a multi-colored she-cat crept to sit behind her sister. Carrionpaw groaned and rested her chin atop Ivypaw's head. She personally loved the rain, but had followed her biological counterpart into their den when it started to drizzle. She eyed the warriors that had also found shelter in the den warily. It felt odd to have the adults in the space made specifically for apprentices. She hoped they wouldn't be able to pick out her nest, strewn with crow feathers and mouse bones.

At Ferndance's suggestion of a game, Carrionpaw grunted and whispered to Ivypaw, "I'd rather take my chances with the lightning outside." As if on cue, the sky lit up in a great display and the thunder applauded the performance. Leaf-fall's storms were much less showy than newleaf's, but she'd take either over the hot sunny weather of greenleaf or the snow of leafbare like Leafcrackle brought up.
