[ KITHOOD ] Born to a litter of three, he grew up on the outskirts of the Marsh colonies. Life began tragically for Hal as in the process of birth his mother had died and his father had left long before their arrival. Thankfully, his aunt had been beside their mother in her final hours and raised all three from birth to four moons of age.
Once they'd reached said age she left them to find a way of life on their own. Naively the three kits agreed to split up and return to their birthing hollow in four sunrises. Yet, when Hal returned they were nowhere to be seen. For four moons he stayed in the hollow waiting for the day he could see their familiar faces. Hunting had been poor and the area rife with predators. After one too many missed hunts it was with a broken heart that Hal left all he had known.
[ APPRENTICESHIP ] In his traverse to the swamps, he was caught by a hunting colony cat and scolded for disrupting their catch. Just as he went to run away, the aforementioned prey jumped high. Without missing a beat, he snagged the frog by its leg and killed it. Having impressed the other and thankful for the catch, they inquired about him as a loner. Despite a rocky start, he managed to hit it off with the Marsh colony and was welcomed to join a small band of them. This is where he honed his fighting techniques and hunting skills.
[ YOUNG WARRIORHOOD ] Hal never was properly made an apprentice or a warrior even after surpassing twenty-six moons of age but he was mentored equally across the colony. Taking on hunts, play fights, sparring, turf battles, and even learning how to kill a cat effectively. When tensions got too hot, he managed to escape the incoming war and was effectively banished for his cowardice. Bitter, he continued to stick around the outskirts even after the colonies formed into the clans. Taking little interest at the start, the knowledge of 'talking spirits' and 'eternal youth' only swayed him for granted to leaders. At first, he believed it to be a joke, but as more and more strays wandered in painting tales of the clan cat's powers, he caved.
Alas, he joined Windclan by the time he'd turned thirty moons and was given his warrior name Harbingermoon. Taking special care to avoid his former home like the plague and learning as much as possible about the ins and outs of clan structure. It sorely disappointed him to learn that not all clan cats possessed mysterious powers but was satisfied being within the same vicinity as the leader and medicine cats. Spending extra care on catering Sootstar and keeping close by their friends.
