camp HEART FULL OF LIFE (gathering + MCA announcements)

“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!”

She had just exited her den alongside Berryheart, Blizzard Fang and Lichenpaw, content and filled with hope. While her clanmates gathered below, she seats herself tall upon the great boulder and wraps her tail around her paws, eyes alight for the first time since Graystorm’s death. In today’s decision, she is once more filled with optimism that her lost loved ones are looking down on ThunderClan and guiding them still. There is a bright future here in this ravine.

“First, as you all know, tonight is the full moon, and so the cats who will be attending the Gathering are Wolfwind, Killdeercry, Redwind, Badgerstrike, Whitelion, Kindleheart, Spotflare, Silverlightning, Cloudyfur, Pebblestep, and Stormywing.” As always, her council knew they would be expected to go regardless, if they were able. “Make sure you eat beforehand; we will leave at sundown.”

“I also have some very exciting news to share. Berryheart has decided he’s ready to take on an apprentice; he has chosen Lichenpaw. Will both of you come forward?”
She waits for the two of them to step to the front of the crowd, smile upon her maw. “Lichenpaw, today you abandon the path of a warrior to train under Berryheart as a medicine cat apprentice. Until you earn your full name at the Moonstone, he will be your new mentor and pass all he knows on to you.” She dips his head, allowing them to touch noses, before turning her attention to Blizzard Fang.

“Sandpaw has made a full recovery and is ready to be assigned a new mentor. Sandpaw, your new mentor will be Blizzard Fang. He did well to train Lichenpaw up until today and I have full faith he will pass all he knows on to you.” Once the two touch noses, she dips her head once more the the crowd and flicks her tail to dismiss them, meeting adjourned.

BLIZZARD FANG

Blizzard Fang pads out of the leader’s den, there is intrigue shining in his eyes and excitement in his steps. Due to his close proximity, he is among the first to arrive underneath the Highrock, his blue gaze flickers upwards. The cats attending the gathering this moon are announced, Blizzard Fang is not among them but it is something he could live with. His eyes travel to Lichenpaw when he is called forward with Berryheart, his ascension to medicine cat is made public. If he meets Lichenpaw’s gaze they would receive a supportive grin, while Berryheart would get a nod from one mentor to another.

He’s already on his paws when Howlingstar calls his name, pride flows through his veins as he touches his nose to @sandpaw ’s. ”I’ll show you all that I know.” Blizzard Fang promises.

☽ .* :☆゚. ── | Ears pricked as Howlingstar called forth the clan, announcing that there would be a meeting. She knew some of what the meeting would be about - it was obvious there would be talk of who would go to the gathering, as the moon had been growing fuller as time went on - but she wasn't expecting there to be talk of Lichenpaw's move to be Berryheart's apprentice. The warrior knew that the medicine cat needed one - especially with the influx of cats getting injured due to the boars that seemed to surround the territory for now - but she hadn't expected there to be the announcement of who it would be tonight. It was good though, Leopardtongue was happy for Lichenpaw, glad the apprentice got to be where he could be happiest.

Smile formed on her face as she slowly waited and watched to see the ceremonies that would take place for the new apprentices and their mentors, waiting to see if there would be any more announcements afterwards. She wanted to see the cats that were going to go to the gathering off, make sure they all ate and were able to get going on time. The apprentices that would be going for the first time tonight could be too excited to even remember to eat.

Whielion perked at the familiar call for a clan meeting, head swerving to glance at Spiderlily who groaned, peeling his eyes open to stare at the Highrock. “I’ll return soon.” He murmured, untangling himself from the other, reaching to touch his nose to his friend’s shoulder before picking his way to the Highrock.

He yawned, stretching, muscles rippling beneath milky white fur, singular hue crinkling as he listened, dozing off slightly until the sound of his name pulled him out of his haze, blinking several times.

Head dipping in acknowledgment, Whitelion glanced over at Spiderlily for a brief second before his attention was snapped to the announcement of their newly appointed medicine cat apprentice.

“A fine choice.” He murmured, offering Lichenpaw a respectful dip of his head, smiling gently. He wondered where his apprentice was, or rather, what she was up to, tail flickering.

SOMETIMES I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
Lichenpaw's heart is racing as they pad from the leader's den, newly-accepted role still feeling strange and only half-real. It's all happening so fast, he barely has time to question his decision, to let it fully settle in. The clan gathers and Lichenpaw's breath catches, eyes sweeping over them. His smile is fixed upon his face, tail twitching nervously as he restrains himself from bursting into full fidgeting. There's so many cats here, he needs to make a good impression. Needs to look the part if he's to take such a prestigious position.

It's surreal to think of him holding any kind of importance in ThunderClan. The medicine cat's apprentice, he never could have imagined it.

Announcements for the gathering attendees — he'll be among them, he knows, even though his name was not called — and then the announcement of why he stands now beside Berryheart. Both step forward, and the racing of his heart grows to a thundering in his ears. This is it. Nose touched to Berryheart's, sealing his position, no going back now. There is relief in that, in the certainty of it.

One last smile for Berryheart, gratitude eagerness anxiouness all qrapped into one, and then Lichenpaw turns to face the gathered cats, standing before them as the new apprentice of the medicine cat. It's a lot of cats to let down; he hopes he can live up to his new role.
I'M MOVING PAST THE FEELING !

Tansy rises from her nest at the sound of a meeting being called, sending one last look at the sleeping form of Crystalkit before she steps out. She takes a seat more towards the nursery rather than in the gathered cats, her fur prickling uncomfortably at the prospect of being in such close contact to the others. The first thing is the cats that Howlingstar wants to bring to the gathering and she lets out a breath of relief, regardless of the fact that she probably wouldn't have even be chosen for the fact that she was a queen.

Talking to others is terrifying, she thinks with a flick of the tail. Even more so when its other clans.

The next announcement is Lichenpaw being taken from a warrior apprentice to be a medicine cat apprentice. She turns her eyes on them, studying, before she dips her head. He'll do fine, is her final thought as Howlingstar moves on to speak of another mentor reassignment. Sandpaw to Blizzard Fang, she's not sure what happened to her old one, not that... Tansy particularly cares, opting to instead hide in the nursery for most of her time. Howling dismisses them, Tansy returns back.

Despite his poor mood he has managed to force himself to sit up and look out of the nursery, listening in to the news with a placid smile across his maw and expression softening at the mention of Sandpaw and Lichenpaw's names. It is nice to see them both managing well despite what had happened, Sandpaw recovered enough to continue training and Lichenpaw now standing proudly under the tutelage of Berryheart. Sunfreckle glanced in the tortie's direction, hoping to offer him a nod of congrats at a distance on his new apprentice. They had not had a new healer in training since the tom himself and that had been so fleeting, only a split second in time before Cinderfrost was cast out for her actions. He sometimes wonders if she's still alive, horrible as she was and dreadful were her actions and motivations she had still helped him bring in his first litter and he would always be thankful for that. Though, he'd probably kill her if she showed back up near his second one brewing. Times changed, so did tolerance. So did cats.
The red tabby glances briefly to Tansyshine just nearby, scurrying back into the den and he settles himself down to lay in front of the mouth of it with a quiet sigh. The gathering.
He would not be attending but he hoped it went well, he was always worried something horrid would happen and cats may not return but that was paranoia speaking and not the sense he knew he had; StarClan surely would never allow it to become a battleground a second time. Although Badgerstrike was going...so it might end up that way anyways. He prayed she behaved herself.

"GOLDEN CHILD, LION BOY;"
sandpaw draws herself from the apprentice's den at the call of howlingstar, slowly making her way towards the group of gathered cats on uneven steps. although berryheart had deemed her recovered, she couldn't help but fear that one wrong step would reawaken her injury. she figured it was best to stay on the safe side.

idly, she listens to the list of cats who would attend the gathering. it was no surprise that she would remain in camp, it did not bother her in the slightest. she could barely stand to interact with some of her own clanmates right now. zoning out, she expects that to be all. to her knowledge nobody was due to graduate up the ranks, besides the boars she had heard of no new dramatic events.

her blank stare is locked in where howlingstar stands, but there seems to be nothing but static playing in her ears. her trance is broken, she is brought back by lichenpaw's form exiting the leader's den. blinking in confusion, she glances to those that were sat around her for clarification, but they were all too busy mumbling congratulations. sandpaw has to connect the dots herself, figure out why her former training mate was stood so far above them next to berryheart. as she came to the conclusion of their promotion, she couldn't help but to narrow her golden gaze slightly. truly, she wanted to be happy for them. but there was a selfish part of her that only grew during her stay in the medicine den, it made her heart beat in her ears with a sense of injustice. it felt like she had lost everything to his quarrels with sunnyday, yet lichenpaw got to stand alongside howlingstar and berryheart, gained a new importance. it wasn't fair.

too caught up in her mind, she didn't even hear her own name called. only moved when expectant eyes turned on her. slowly making her way to the front of the clan, her steps were no longer gentle, but rigid as if her joints had frosted over. she stretches her neck to meet blizzard fang's nose, but her eyes do not meet his. she nods gingerly at his words before taking her seat once again, stubbed tail tapping the ground behind her.

At the sound of a meeting being called, Flycatcher gathered with his clanmates to hear what Howlingstar had to say. The first announcements pertained to who would be attending the upcoming gathering. As he was part of ThunderClan's council, Flycatcher would be going regardless, and he would be bringing his apprentices too. Whilst he could trust Burnpaw to behave for the most part, he would keep an eye on Shinepaw given his age and the fact that this would be his first gathering.

What was more of a surprise was the announcement of a new medicine cat apprentice. Flycatcher knew it was inevitable Berryheart would take on an apprentice of his own at some point but the announcement still comes as a bit of a shock. Still, he is happy for young Lichenpaw, and hopeful that the young cat would flourish under Berryheart's tutelage.

"LICHENPAWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Chickadeepaw launches herself at her friend, her squeaky little roar full of glee. She rambles up to him, paws flung out to catch him around the neck, a hearty purr starting in her throat. "Berryheart chose you- OH MY STARS, GOOD FOR YOU, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU." She is screeching as loud as her little body can handle, the excitement of the Gathering spilling into her excitement for her friend as well. Distantly, she realizes that Howlingstar had also called out the cats that would be attending the Gathering, her own mentor among them.

She whips around to face her mentor, golden eyes owl-wide. "Whitelionnnnnnn -" She begins in a whine. "I've been sooooooooooo good lately so can I go can I go can I go can I go can I go can I go PLEAAAAAAAAAAASE?" It would be SO unfair if Lichenpaw got to go to the Gathering AGAIN and she had to WAIT for him to get home to tell her what had happened!

Redwind settled beside Chickadeepaw, ears perking at the news, a delighted purr rumbling throughout her body as she was commanded to attend the gathering. It was exciting, knowing she would be able to befriend clan allies and learn more about them. On top of that, she got to know what was going on in the other clans. Even the enemies. The gossip was something she surely would sink her teeth in and enjoy being served to her. It felt as if a ray of sunlight licked at her chest, a warmth of delight. Then, a new medicine cat apprentice was announced, her body leaned forward attentively. Lichenpaw. It was no surprise, the youngster had seemed to enjoy getting their paws dirty for the sweet reward of herbs and saps. She gave the new medicine cat apprentice an adorning look. She believed they would do well, they would keep the clan strong in their future and even bless the clan with possible omens and transcribe signs from Starclan. It was a big responsibility, a busy job. Although, Redwind knew going out for herbs and gathering them would be peaceful. At least to her. She could see herself enjoying the activity, hopefully, she could help out on the next herb patrol. "Lichenpaw, Lichenpaw!" she cheered as the two medicine felines touched noses, chuckling a Chickadeepaws enthusiasm near her.

Then there was Sandpaw whom had been paried with Blizzardfang. Blizzardfang was someone she saw grave patience within, suited for any possible apprentice set infront of his paws. He was hardworking and so was Sandpaw, she noted how the younger female actively tried to prove herself. Although, she also noticed how stiff she was, some intrigue showing through pricked ears. What was on her mind?

"Sandpaw! Blizzardfang!" she cheered, lifting her chin in glee. She turned her attention to Chickadeepaw, laughing once more at her friendliness. "I'm sure you'll make a ton of friends, some enthusiasm is needed in a time of gloom, right Whitelion?" she urged, giving a playful wink in encouragement to cave to his apprentice.

Reactions: WHITELION

A ceremony would ensue, an apprentice passed over. Fangs had given his approval, had been promised another, and Berryheart's paws were itching with enthusiasm. As always, he kept himself quiet and still as water in breezeless air at Freckles' side. The excitement that had buzzed from them both since their conversation was at last sealed into a pact with the touch of their noses, and he met his new apprentice's eyes with a quick nod before Freckles turned to face the crowd.

The joyful outcry for his student, shouts of their name and murmuring words of congratulations, elicited a barely-audible and seldom-heard purr from the depths of Berryheart's being. ThunderClan had always been a place of warmth; he had not fretted for a moment about the response. His own appointment had somehow avoided controversy despite the circumstance, but at last he was glad to give ThunderClan a medic-in-training who actually had a teacher, who would get the chance to learn. Despite the stony stillness of his expression, those who knew him best would spot a verdant glint in his dull green gaze, and the slightest curve of crooked lips.
