Aglow with dawn, the world sprawls out before the two figures that cut through the pines, dew - misted and alight with promise. Dayglow creeps through feathered firs, peach - ripened pink spreading up from the distant horizon; Doeblaze wakes with the sun, and now, so does @mica~. A darker - washed pelt akin to her own moves ( perhaps a touch sleepily ) at her side, given the previous sun - scorched afternoon off to rest and celebrate, new pelts aflurry in the apprentice's den—no doubt a hailstorm of moss and excitement—as the latest round of trainees had made their new nests there.
Today, though, their training begins with a soft - edged vigor; Doeblaze may wield herself like a well - honed weapon, but the bladed edge would never be pointed towards her new charge. The granting of a second apprentice had been an unexpected honor and a gift, and she plans to do as best by Cloudypaw as she's able. She'd woken him as gently as she'd been able to manage given her early rising, and after a drink from the stream, they'd set out into glowing sunrise . . . for what better way to begin an apprenticeship than a tour of the territory Cloudypaw would ( hopefully ) one day live and breathe, just as she did?
" Here's the RiverClan border now, " she mrrows as an aside when the backlit silver of the river comes into view, limned in the light of the sun, now properly risen and washing the world in rosy gold . . . a pleasantry for now, though sure to turn hellishly hot by midday. She gazes towards the rippling water, recalling with a shiver the mountain river Ferngill had towed her out of . . . she has no idea how they do it, truly. " We get along with them well, all things considered. "
" What can you tell me about them? " The lilac tabby blinks . . . are those pelts shifting amongst the reeds on the opposite side? A RiverClan patrol coming by, maybe . . . well, the sooner Cloudypaw met their neighbors, the better. Doeblaze has no designs on her apprentice being one of the smattering of those who spit venom over borders and start spats over squirrels. Shredded ears twitch to hear the tom's answer, and she tips her head towards the approaching cats.
" There's a patrol now. It's important to be polite on the borders, regardless of what the other cats might say. " More likely to be an issue on the next border they'd visit, all things considered, but still . . . it couldn't hurt to instill some diplomacy early in Cloudypaw's training. Doeblaze blinks her lone eye in what she hopes is a friendly manner as the patrol nears the shoreline, meowing with a courteous tip of the head, " Good morning. "
