*+:。.。 The stars glittered and shined, distant but still exuding silvery warmth even from way up there. She'd been watching the stars since she was a kitten so she can confidently tell you that they really do move. They've danced alongside her and her siblings; raced them, followed them, and waited for them. They've been their friends since the start, and they'll continue to be forever after...soon, though, they'll know them by whole new names. Bugpaw can tell they're all just as excited as she is.

It was late, the air thick with frost, but Bugpaw remained sat just outside the apprentice's den. She couldn't tell you for how long, but judging by the ache in the back of her craned neck, probably a while. "Starclan knows, like, everything right?" Bugpaw's words fog before her, widening her smile as she watches the mist rise towards the stars - I knew our words reached them she thinks triumphantly. Turning her head towards a sibling who'd left the apprentice's den to join her, the girl continued, "You think dad already knows what our names are going to be?"

〕Ravenpaw missed the warmth of green leaf. Regardless of how much she fluffed up her fur, it was impossible to feel warm once the sun went down. Bugpaw's continued absence from the den was starting to concern her. Knowing Bugpaw, she was probably out talking to everyone still...but she wanted to check, just in case. Perhaps she didn't realize how late it was. After carefully tiptoeing her way through the sleeping bodies inside the den, she found her sister sitting just outside, staring up at the stars. "Hey Buggy." Her voice was quiet as she sat down beside her, pressing her side against Bugpaw's.

Starclan knows, like, everything right?

The apprentice cocked her head, turning slightly to look at her. "I think so?" Gentlestorm, Flamestar, and Thundergleam seemed to say so at least..especially Thundergleam. "You think dad already knows what our names are going to be?" She stiffened, her eyes dropping to her paws. Was Flycatcher really watching them? When she was younger, she had tried to imagine what their father looked like, based on how their mother had described him...but with never meeting him, it was hard to picture him. It had been weird, growing up watching other kit's fathers experience their milestones. Falconheart had been the one who had been there when they had said their first words, took their first steps...he had been the one she was excited to tell about her first day as an apprentice, and to show her first catch. "Maybe...I dunno.."

a longhaired tortoiseshell with low white and green eyes. Ravenpaw bares a pitch black pelt, broken up by vibrant blazes of red fire. Her fur is long, curling up around her face. She has dark green eyes like her mother, and carries a light, athletic build like her mother. She has very minimal white like her father, only having a little spot above her nose on her face, and her front left toes. Her front left leg is encapsulated by blazing fire, wrapping around her back up into her bushy fox-like tail.

Despite the shift in personality that hardship after hardship beat in to him, one thing remained true throughout it all: his family was his weak spot, a point of softness for him, and when he watches Ravenpaw quietly leave the den… He rolls over to where Squirrelpaw and Bugpaw sleeps, finding that one of them also wasn't in their nest. The boy pushes himself up with a small huff, dipping downward and kinking a plumed tail over his back as he stretches, and then his paws carry him straight towards the entrance.

He only catches snippets of their conversation. Starclan knows…. and Ravenpaw says something in result to it, but he cannot make out the words until he crests the dens mouth. Bugpaw says something that sours his stomach almost immediately, something that makes him wish he never came out here in the first place. Do you think dad already knows what our names are going to be?

Why would dad know anything? He's a corpse in the ground, probably a skeleton by now. His face screws up for a split second.

"What are you guys doing still awake?" he murmurs, eyes narrowing ever so slightly as he takes his own seat a few half-inches away from his gathered siblings, gaze flicking towards the sky. The leafbare chill is nice and seeps through a plush coat, a stark contrast to the bone-freezing dread he felt just seconds before. He huffs a small sigh, watching as the cloud that pours from his lips billows in to the night air and disappears.

The stars twinkle mercilessly overhead. Sunpaw turns his eyes back to his earth-bound siblings.
