Marigoldpaw ✧ he/him ✧ Apprentice of Windclan ░░░░░░░░░░░░░
The wobbly cinnamon cat moved his way from the apprentices' section of the camp and over towards Coldpaw and Rosepaw. Greeting them with a nod before giving this wicked smile across his maw, "What're you two up too?" Making idle conversation as he went about tolerating these two. They had become- friends? If that what they called bothering older apprentices' and what not. Marigoldpaw moved his head around for a moment, wobbling in his spot on the ground, and narrowed his orange gaze on a molly. Black as night with sparks of silver, and looking rather- fat. The she-cat was usually so slim, fit even if that was a thing, and was it then he recalled something. When he had been eveesdropping on the older warriors one time and they had stated something- something interesting.

"Hey you guys, I heard something interesting today," Marigoldpaw grinned at his two fellow apprentices, raising his voice so it'd echo across the clearing, "That Moonshadow is expecting Hyacinthbreaths' kits!" He gave a little laugh and gestured with his paw for a moment. How silly, but poor Lavenderstorm and her broken heart.

She's padding past the apprentices, towards the den where she hopes Melonpaw is feeling up to patrolling. The she-cat is more fragile, making Pollenfur wonder what ailments their father might have passed to her, since she isn't the only one... but her ears flick, catching names she recognizes. Moonshadow is expecting Hyacinthbreath's kits!

The calico snaps her neck towards the gossipers, narrowing square amber eyes on the culprit. Melonpaw's sibling and Honeytwist's son. "Oh, Marigoldpaw," she says, voice somewhat heated. "You know better than to spread lies!"

But - she pauses, though her expression remains stiff. Is Marigoldpaw lying?... Moonshadow is that barn cat, black-pelted. Would Hyacinthbreath have sought her after Lavenderstorm?...

It's none of her business, she tells herself, instead glaring at the gossipers.

He's eavesdropping, sure. But, his brother's words are... intriguing, to say the least.

Moonshadow? Expecting Hyacinthbreath's kits?

As in Hyacinthbreath, who was supposed to be so in love with Lavenderstorm? That Hyacinthbreath?

"That's absurd," Lemonpaw tells Marigoldpaw, small white paws settling themselves within the group of gossipers, "Why would you say that?"

Because, really, why would his sibling say such a thing? Yellow eyes glace over at the shadowy she-cat, considering the rumor for a moment. He supposes that she looks like she's going to have kits, but he's still hung up on the accusation - that they're Hyacinthbreath's. The lead warrior wouldn't do such a thing, right?

Perhaps his mother knows? Maybe Dandelionpaw? He'll ask them later.

Gossping was something Sootstar enjoyed partaking in every now and again, she enjoyed being in the know... It was exciting having and telling information to others that most cats didn't know. Like the others, she can't help but overhear Marigoldpaw chatting to his peers. Blue ears perk at the mention of her lead warrior.

Moonshadow and Hyacinithbreath? She would've never predicted it but... okay... she guess. True or false, did it really matter? It was hardly a scandelous ordeal if Moonshadow was carrying Hyacainiths kits... Perhaps the silver warrior had taken her words to heart, found someone better for her.

"Even if thats true, who cares?" Sootstar says, not in a scolding manner just a... "this really isn't something jaw-dropping" type of deal. "True or false, listen to your peers and stop talking about it." If Moonshadow was expecting kits... that was something she'd want to announce and reveal for herself. Sootstar didn't want anyone to take that from her- more than it may have already been...

Suppose she'd be keeping an eye on Moonshadow's habits and belly for signs...

Perhaps Echolight had come back to camp at just the right time, after all. A heavy rabbit clutched in her jaws was almost immediately dropped when she heard Marigoldpaw’s rumor echo from where she stood. By the time she had dropped the rabbit on the pile and was making her way over, her aunt had already joined in with a light scolding. Taking a spot beside her, the scarred calico couldn’t help but roll her singular eye. "It’s disrespectful to gossip about your superiors." She pointed out lightly, though shooting Pollenfur an amused glance. With Sootstar joining in, despite Echolight’s misgivings about her ashen leader, the warrior nodded in agreement. "Find something else to do- hunting’s good today!" She encouraged. As amusing as gossiping could be, surely there were better ways to cure a case of boredom- which is often where gossiping spawned from.

"Speech."

His family scolded for eavesdropping, for gossip- but oh, couldn't they have some fun once in a while! Sometimes it was fun to just talk about the fantastical- even to think about it! If you were stuck in the dark nook-corner of reality all your life, everything would be so cold and grey and terrible...

So upon the scene he descended, a snow-soaked phantom, head tilted to rest as dead weight upon his shoulder. His standing-angle seemed impossible as he stared without a single flicker of a blink, smile undying, drawing up wraithlike beside his sister. Domino, his form dwarfed hers- in size-similarity and general demeanour one would not have been out of line to guess they were not related at all. His tail flicked to touch her flank in greeting, but the length of it did not reach, no such contact happening. The large tom clearly failed to notice. "Where'd you hear that?" An unintentionally terrifying gesture, he leaned closer to Marigoldpaw, voice lower in volume. It was just a bit of fun... just a bit of fun.

//tw for panic attack

Hyacinthbreath had loved Lavenderstorm with her whole being, with every breath- but she had left, and Hyacinthbreath had been alone for long enough to know that she was most likely not coming back. She's plucking the feathers from a blackbird when she hears the sound of apprentices babbling and giggling amongst each other, a few warriors chipping in. What was this talk about? She stands up, wandering over if only to eavesdrop on the conversation. She catches the tail-end of Marigoldpaw's words, and her blood runs cold.

..That Moonshadow is expecting Hyacinthbreaths' kits!

She stands still for a moment, feeling the heat slowly rise up her spine until she felt like she was suffocating. A blink, then another, until she realizes she had been breathing a bit hard. Moon was pregnant with her kits? But they had only.. No, that wasn't possible. There's no way. But as her eyes wander to the smoky molly in the distance, she notices her round belly and Hyacinth panics. She quickly stands up, her breath quickening as she wildly looks around for an escape. Any place to go. Please, please, don't trap me here-. Soon, the breathing turned into gasps as she stumbles away from the gossiping group, trying to hide herself from the clan.

Shame, pure, unfiltered shame was what she felt.

How shit of a cat was she, to do this to Lavenderstorm? To Moonshadow?

She shoves past a passing by NPC/YC, racing off onto the moors. Just to get away from here. She needed to breathe. She couldn't breathe!

She approaches at the sound of commotion, flinches when Hyacinth barrels right past her but otherwise her expression remains cool as she watches her run. She barely knows Lavenderstorm, barely even cares about the situation unfolding before her but her eyes turn to both her sons and she falters as there is a miniature voice inside her, trying to get her to encourage them. Moonshadow has not come to her, has not announced it but the voice is cruel in reasoning.

What have I become? What have my children picked up on?

"Ma cherie, lets drop the topic, yeah?" she shoots a small little look at Mallowlark that could be considered vague amusement and encouragement, a small grin; she does not like Hyacinthbreath and it was obvious, but she would take a route to remain civil. "Echolight is right, hunting's always good." she attempts to brush against Pollenfur for comfort, taking in her sweet scent before she smiles once more, this time more convincing than the last.

Pollenfur watches with remorse as Hyacinthbreath runs from the prying gazes of her Clanmates, knocking into someone with enough force to send them sprawling. She wonders if this is confirmation enough, or if Hyacinthbreath nearly needed space after hearing the rumor. She does not want to dwell on it more than she has to.

She feels a comforting presence, Honeytwist's warm flank at her side, and she gives the medicine cat an appreciative look. Why hadn't Hyacinthbreath gone to Moonshadow for comfort, then? Why hadn't the black molly done as Honeytwist had to her?

She turns and attempts to press her face against Honeytwist's cheek. The medicine cat looks at her children with a troubled expression, perhaps thinking as Pollenfur is - that Marigoldpaw has chosen to be cruel, spreading rumors simply to hurt others.

She nods, flicking her tail in acknowledgment to Mallowlark and Echolight. "Echolight is right," she murmurs, repeating Honeytwist. She gives her nephew and niece a small smile. "Doesn't matter where they heard it. They should remember other cats have feelings next time and keep their thoughts to themselves." A stern look Marigoldpaw's way, but she goes no further with her scolding.

Leechpaw had overheared the gossip from a distance but he couldn't exactly say he cared about if it was true or not. What Hyacinthbreath did on her freetime was none of thier business, now was it?. Beside, love always meant someone would get hurt in the end so he didn't exactly saw this as strange. What he did found strange though was Hyacinthbreath reaction to the whole thing. It most be the first time he had seen them upset like this to flee rather then defend herself. Was it true then?. Looked to suspectious not to be. Snorting, the apprentice grimaced his eyes starting narrowing themselves. Standing up from wherever he had been Leechpaw approached over towards the group to pass them all to head towards Marigoldpaw but his eyes wheren't exactly on them. Instead he would pass them but as he did so would throw out a bitter word to them. " Next time do everyone a favor and keep that stupid mouth of yours shut." He hissed into thier ear and then just like that he walked out from the scene, leaving his words only for Marigoldpaw to hear. Tch. He really didn't like cats who spoke behind other cats back, who put thier noses into business that wasn't thier own. And with that he was gone.

// retro to fight thread because i really wanted to reply to this even if this is more an in and out post then anything else :-:
