With the meeting drawn to a close, Periwinklebreeze is faced with a rather important task - moving from his spot in the nursery, and back out into camp. In truth, there is little that keps him here - there is nothing left for him in it' walls, every scrap of moss now tainted with bad memories. Perhaps, had he still had his old nest - his scraps of feathers and fur, reminders of those he'd loved and lost, he'd be more reluctant, but in truth he gives the space he'd once called little more then a one over. And then he turns around, dipping through the nursery entrance back out into camp.

But he doesn't move to claim his own space - to make a nest of his own. No, instead eyes find black and white pelt, and with very little hesitation, Periwinklebreeze flops right down - right into Gravelsnaps nest. Blue eyes glitter with affection, mind echoing words exchanged - their nest, he corrects himself as paws tuck neatly beneath his smoke-stained body, until he is coiled into a perfect loaf. The shy smile stretching across his maw is impossible to miss - impossible to hide.

// @GRAVELSNAP but no need to wait

Out with the old, in with the new; that is apparently the pace set for WindClan. Sootspot brings new life into the nursery, and like clockwork, more changes follow suit... namely Periwinklebreeze's move. Dimmingsun can only imagine how nice it must feel to once again have the wind comb through your fur every night, instead of the nursery's suffocating bounds — safe, yes, but too crowded and much too sheltered from the elements that these lithe and sturdy bodies have grown accustomed to.

"It's great to have you back." It seldom occurred to him before to pay more heed to his fellow lead warriors' presence. Slateheart, Periwinklebreeze, now even Bluefrost... ever-adored queens, that much is certain, but Dimmingsun definitely misses them when they're absent.

Something else has shifted. It appears whatever hesitancy Periwinklebreeze felt in the past has lifted from them, allowing them to open his heart fully for the likes of Gravelsnap. Even amidst such incredible joys, Dimmingsun finds a way to sneak in a joke or two. "I must ask, though... did you tell Gravelsnap about this in advance? Sharing is carin' and all, but he might've forgotten to prepare the nest for two."

➴➴ Gravelsnap would be lying if they claimed they had not been awaiting this exact moment. Peri’s kits are apprenticed, the meeting is adjourned, and they are quick to return to their nest to lie down. A midday nap seems a good idea—Sheeppaw may be upset with being informed that his warrior ceremony will be pushed back for a season. Besides, they have been gathering what bits of moss and flowers they could scrounge up to subtly expand their nest. It’s only a bit larger now than it had been before, but still noticeable to a cat who is used to taking up all the space in their own nest. Now, they suppose, they can’t just call it their nest alone. It is theirs to share with their mate… if their mate ever decides to leave the nursery behind, that is.

Gravelsnap is far from drifting off to sleep, still wide awake and waiting when they feel a shifting in their nest. One hazel eye cracks open, then both, and a bright smile cuts its way across their face as their mate tucks himself right into the nest like he belongs there. Charcoal legs fold in beneath Peri’s scarred form, and blue eyes shine with something unnameable. Gravelsnap’s chest erupts in a purr, certainly loud enough for even Dimmingsun to hear. "Of course I prepared the nest," he responds to the dappled lead warrior’s speculation—as though Gravelsnap would ever forget. They shift to rest their head atop Peri’s flank, subtly listening to the thumping of his mate’s heartbeat. "You are never going to be apart from me again." Of course, it is a ridiculous statement. They have their own responsibilities, patrols and hunting and then lead warrior duties for Periwinklebreeze, but there will not be another stint in the nursery. There will not be another clan-saving journey to go on. They can be together, and it is the happiest that Gravelsnap has ever felt.

Dimmingsun playfully questions his actions, but Periwinklebreeze allows himself to be swept up in his mates embrace - smile widening when Gravelsnap answers. " Of c-course, " he agrees easily - as though it is a given. They both know it isn't true - life as a clan cat simply doesn't allow for such things, and parting, however briefly it may be, is inevitable. It's still a pleasant thought nonetheless - a happy dream. focus returns once more to his fellow lead, and he nods - " It is nice t-too be back to w-work though... I love th-the nursery, truly.... but I've m-missed being able to run, " he says softly.
