Sunpaw's tone still rattled in her ears, that bordering on hissing tone. The way she snapped, truthfully they hadn't understood why she would be so upset about this. It was merely a discussion, idle gossip! Not even about any blunders or something horrible. Isn't love meant to be great? Or was she just assuming that's the case, maybe it's terrible. She could just be embarrassed but what would be so embarrassing about being talked about? Twinklepaw thought that meant the individual talked about must be liked to be on the tip of everyone's tongue. Or done something controversial but she clearly hadn't done the latter

The blue point didn't see the need in apologising, happy enough to just carry on as if nothing happened. Why apologise if she truly believed she hadn't done anything wrong? It was a pleasant enough day, the sun had reached its apex in the sky as they approached the other apprentice. "Sunpaw! Let's go look for shells" her tone is overly bubbly, not a shred of guilt in her expression.

They approach her like one would a friend, tail swaying and curled in greeting. Chin jutted out and head tilted towards the sky in pride. "It's this way! Let's go" she is firm in her words with a grin, if not a tad pushy. Instead she clings to arrogance, paws already treading against the ground to lead the pair.

The whole situation... Yeah, it mad her angry. Her anger had been misdirected at Owlpaw maybe, for saying something more stupid, but the more she had thought about it in the aftermath, and especially after apologizing to Owlpaw and realizing that he wasn't responsible for that terrible question, the more she had been left to fester with the fact that there was someone who was, and who had put her name in their mouth for something so.... so stupid!

So when Twinklepaw calls her name, where Sunpaw's lazing in a sunbeam, she opens an eye and turns her gaze on Twinklepaw with disdain. Then Twinklepaw actually speaks, and the disdain turns into an unveiled look of disgust, her lip curling

She doesn't even look wary of her. Like they're friends, like they've actually spoken. And so she says nothing, watching as Twinklepaw just turns and leads her away like she expects Sunpaw to just jump up and listen to any of her whims.

"Yeah... no thanks," she scoffs. The smile in Twinklepaw's voice makes her insides turn with annoyance, prickling against her ribcage as she sets her chin back down on her paws.

"You don't get to tell me what to do, Gossippaw."

The look of disdain is purposefully ignored, the curl of the lip excused as a facial twitch. It doesn't deter her from her decision to talk with Sunpaw nor does it deter her from deciding that the apprentice would be the best companion for her quest to look for shells. The scoff is met with a turn of her head and wide eyed stare. The confusion in her expression is clear, why wouldn't Sunpaw want to do something fun? She highly doubted that it would be because of the gossip she spread, it wasn't even her that started it! She just wanted to know if it was true, merely a messenger for those around her, how are they to be in trouble for it?

Gossippaw seals the reasoning for the cold greeting she's received from the other apprentice so far. "Gossippaw?" her speech is a gasp mixed with laughter, disbelief churning and morphing into a defensive annoyance. "You're not seriously upset about that, are you?" they retrace their steps and find herself walking back to where the tabby had refused to move. She doesn't sit to join them, keeping her paws planted in the ground, smile fading into something neutral as she attempts to discern what was going through Sunpaw's mind.

Twinklepaw doesn't notice the sharp movement of their own tail lashing once, sharp and calucated, in frustration. "I was trying to invite you to do something" they feel like they shouldn't have to be so obvious about it. "It was just a conversation, nothing bad was even said about you" there's a huff as they decide to finally sit down on the ground, it seemed like this was a conversation they had to have even if she held no desire to.

Twinklepaw only looks confused, which only makes the feelings in her chest stir harder, stronger, raking against her ribcage and settling in her skin as something hot. The disbelief of laughter in Twinklepaw's tone is met with a scoff from Sunpaw in kind.

"Oh, now you're going to tell me that I'm wrong?" she snarks back at Twinklepaw near instantly. She doesn't sit up, but she lifts her body from the sprawl she's been in, eyes sharp as she swings her gaze back to the other apprentice as she approaches. "Yeah, I'm upset about it." Does she really have to spell out why? Ugh. And honestly, she can't even describe why exactly it makes her mad. It just does. Maybe it really wasn't a big deal, at least in the moment. Most other cats understood Twinklepaw was just... gossiping. Probably doing what a lot of other apprentices do, but they weren't the ones getting talked about. Or being the one to make people question their relationships - having to question her own relationship with Owlpaw when she never would have otherwise. Even then she had never come to any conclusion, too upset to do much more than accept Owl's apology for what it was.

But he shouldn't have been made to do that either.

"You didn't just invite me. You told me. You really think you can just walk up to me and try to be nice like you weren't talking about me behind my back?" she counters, tail lashing behind her. "That wasn't a conversation. If it was a conversation, I would have been in it," she almost yells the last part of her sentence, not because she's actually trying to yell, but because it bubbles up out of her like a wave of frustration. "I might be a lot of things, but at least I have the decency to talk about someone in front of their face."

"Well, no but you say it likes a bad thing" She didn't view gossiping as that bad of an activity to partake in, maybe Sunpaw hasn't tried it before? Oh, she could show her that would be pretty fun. Though she's rapidly understanding that isn't the issue at all. They scrunch their muzzle in confusion, sitting rigid as it feels like bones lock. "You're upset about it" she drawls it out, tail curling around their hind paws as it takes spelling it out for this to even slightly make sense to them. Twinklepaw still didn't really get why but they didn't like the idea of upsetting someone like that, truly they were just prying about others gossip. Twinklepaw convinced herself that it was for the goal of helping the pair, maybe it would lead to some grand proclamations of love if the rumours were true after all.

"You're name being mentioned isn't really talking about you behind your back" she began to defend herself, huffing in frustration. It doesn't stop her ears from pinning back against their skull, defensive reflection against the almost yell that escapes the other apprentice. Their pointed paw digs at the dirt, squinting at their denmate. There's reasoning behind her being so upset, she understands that but they're protective over their pride regardless. "I was just asking if he likes you! I was curious" she meets Sunpaw's pitch, frustration slipping past her usually well guarded pleasant demeanor.

"I didn't mean to upset you and I'm sorry about that" she means it, despite the fact that agitation still laces her tone. "I won't bring you up again but were you seriously just... not going to bring this up or something if it bothered you this bad?" They really can't believe that, if she hadn't decided that the pair should look for shells then would she have just... never said anything?
