camp I PROMISE I'LL DO BETTER // kitsitting

He needed a break before he went crazy for mixing up the herbs on which did what...Vulturemask was tired and even before this he had been exhausted and now...He was being torn apart between two cats he had high respect for. He was in the middle of it all and he was trying to keep himself together through all of this. But the truth of the matter was this was not easy for him. Dandelionwish was a dear friend of his, the tom had been there with him through thick and thin, and now he was forced to disown that friendship with them...To let them go soon enough and he would be left behind to stay here. It seemed like him ever winning to get it all was impossible. He was always forced to make this difficult choices, one after the other. He was sick of it. In that very moment he felt beyond tired, emotionally and spiritually.

So he seeked himself to the only place that made sense for him right now, that helpt to keep him together. The nursery den.

Vulturemask would enter and instantly he find his attention to Snowfeather and her kits, his siblings although they didn't know that. Would he ever tell them the truth?. It seemed easier not to, better for them...He would watch them for a while, studing what they where doing and his gaze slightly soften. When everything felt wrong or if he had a bad day...just stepping inside of here and getting to see them was...enough to give his mind some peace to know he was doing something right, and that all of this was worth it. What he was doing was worth it if he could keep on watching them live their lives peacefully like this. To have that childhood he never had but wished he could. He wanted them to have a bright future, he wanted them to shine and grow up to become whatever they wished to be and anyone who stood in the way of that he would cut down.

" Snowfeather you look tired." he would comment as he stepped closer, having noticed that Snowfeather looked tired which was a red flag in his eyes. HIs own mother had always had the worst moods when she had been tired...and he was worried Snowfeather would grow sick and tired of his siblings if she never got a break which was why he always was there to check up on her...to make things as comfortable and easy for her as possible. Anything he could do so the kits never would feel...unwanted. " Want me to take care of them for a while?." he would ask the queen and Snowfeather would nod in gratitude, a small smile being placed on her maw. " Yes, that would be very nice of you."

He would give a nod before he turned his attention to the three kits, and he would signal with his head towards the entrance of the nursery. " Lets go outside." he would tell them and not long after he would turn to walk back outside and hopefully with his half-siblings following shortly behind. Once outside he would stop and cast a glance over his shoulder at the small vulnerable lives. " So...how has your day been going?." he asked them, his tone softer from usual even if his voice still was rough and raspy. There still was a tenderness to his tone, a sign that he was trying to be gentle with them.

// you don't need to wait for @sunflowerkit @Flarekit @Dreamkit to post first BUT i wanna clarify for those who dosent know yet or have forgotten that Vults siblings does not know he is their older half-brother! Vult told the clan when he brought them in that they are his younger siblings so this is a icly knowledge to the majority of the clan but he has asked for no one to reveal the truth to them. Of course i'm fine if this would come out sooner or later if this would be a icly realistic thing for your character to do (just keep in mind Vult will not forgive your character for it ) i just ask that it dosent happen in this thread thanks! (:

"AND I'M NOT YOUR PROTAGONIST"

Stormgaze didn’t have much to do at the moment. She had gotten back from the patrol she was on a while ago. Now she was looking for something else to do when she caught sight of the young kits. Seeing them with the newly made medicine cat peaked her interest. She remembered when they were brought here. The younger siblings of Vulturemask. For whatever reason, Vulture didn’t want them to know they were related.

The gray she-cat padded over to the four of them. Her green eyes sparkling with playful energy. Surely they were outside because they wanted to play. Stormgaze doesn’t miss a beat to intrude on their plans. Inserting herself even if she wasn’t welcomed. “Hello! Are you guys about to play a game? Careful, I hear Vulturemask here doesn’t like to lose.” She actually has no idea if that was true or not. “But don’t worry! I’m willing to help you win!”

( ) Sunflowerkit is always glad when they get to see Vulturemask. It's a little strange--they usually only feel that way about their siblings, but Vulturemask is an exception. He's been such a constant fixture in their life, with the kit incapable of remembering a time when he wasn't there for them. And even if they still don't quite get why, he seems to care for the three of them. A lot. It was nice, once they finally came to accept that he was genuine in this, to have someone who loved them so unconditionally. They feel at ease around them, in a way they couldn't be with other cats.

So when the older tom comes into the nursery, Sunflowerkit immediately perks up. They don't mind staying with Snowfeather, but she isn't Vulturemask. The nest-moss they'd been insistently pulling at falls from their jaws as they dislodge themself from their position half-buried in the rest of it. With the kit approaching apprenticing age, they've grown a touch of fascination with the idea of training to be a warrior. Ideally, the kit would love to train with Vulturemask; it'd be a great excuse to spend time with one of their favorite cats, and they're great with plants. They only eat the ones they aren't supposed to sometimes.

It's not like they don't want to be a warrior, though! Sunflowerkit is fierce. If they become a warrior, they can fight off anyone who tries to be mean to their siblings--and Vulturemask. He could handle the herbs and the healing, and they'd take care of all the scary stuff. But anyway, the moss. It's kind of genius, actually, in Sunflowerkit's opinion. They're innovating the very concept of battle, with their new "ambush" technique. First they'll bury themself in the moss, and then they pounce! No one will see it coming. They had been demonstrating this plan to their siblings, certain that the other two would be impressed.

Wait, hold on.

This is a perfect opportunity. Vulturemask has seen them, but no matter. They pull back into the moss a bit, still only half-covered, then leap out towards their half-brother, moss flying from their messy pelt. Instead of attacking, though, they merely headbutt against his leg with a soft purr.

When Vulturemask offers to head outside, Sunflowerkit trots along behind him, short legs struggling to keep up with the tom's pace. "So... How has your day been going?" His voice always seemed softer when talking to the kits, compared to other cats. It had taken Sunflowerkit a while to notice, but they liked it. They considered the question, humming softly in acknowledgement. "Trained," they said after a second, in explanation of their previous attack. They feel very proud of it, very grown-up. But oh, he'd seen that... What else had happened today? "...Found a snail," they finish decisively. All in all, a very good day.

...And then Stormgaze comes over.

She's interrupting, Sunflowerkit thinks, fur bristling. Can't this she-cat see that this is family time? Uh, and Vulturemask is here, but he's close enough to being family that it's fine. They've barely had a second with him before she comes over! Everyone here is so nosy. "Are you guys about to play a game? Careful, I hear Vulturemask here doesn’t like to lose.” Really? Clearly, Stormgaze doesn't know anything. Acting like they know Vulturemask better than them... Sunflowerkit huffs a scoff, scooting closer to him.

When Stormgaze offers to help the kits win in whatever game she's certain they're playing, Sunflowerkit shakes their head, not wasting words on this stranger. They turn away in clear dismissal, looking to Vulturemask instead. It occurs to them belatedly that they did not bother to check if their siblings were interested in this "game", so they cast a side-eyed glance towards the other two kits, hesitantly curious.

It is not Vulturemask's young posse that draws Sunstride's attention, but Sunflowerkit's refusal. He chuckles at the curl of their body, the way those warm eyes linger on their new medicine cat instead. Perhaps he would think of her as a more serious sort, had she not been taught by Wolfsong to hunt his very own tail. Kittens were odd sorts. Not unpleasant to be around, yet strange nonetheless. They hold within them a world's worth of curiosity, and not a single other place to store their experiences. In all that they do and learn, they overflow. At times, he almost misses his own days like that.

"Ah, but what use is a game to a grand warrior in training!" he remarks, a twinkle in his eyes. It is a comment meant to be made in passing, as he repairs a small hole in the nursery wall, but then it is only half done and he has already inserted himself to the conversation. Whatever his uncertain thoughts on Vulturemask may amount to, these are but children; they should not be so affected by the politics of clan life. His heart jumps in sympathetic rebellion, hating that he had even considered as much. "Have you told him of your recent hunt, little flower? I am certain he would like to know."

  • ooc:
  • SUNSTRIDE. named for his coloration and his bold chasing of fate.
—— cis male, uses he - him. thirty-four moons old. warrior of windclan and former rogue.
—— cautious of clan life, but an apt learner. encourages close bonds between clanmates.
—— loyalty uncertain, cares for those surrounding him. undoubtedly closest to wolfsong.

sunstride is broad and bold– a creature standing above most of windclan, though not a beast beyond its borders, with fur that flames red at its base and deepens to a burnt amber with every whorl and stripe. his eyes, in comparison, are a pale summer's blue, still as bold as the rest of him.
  • "speech"

At first he hadn't understood what Sunflowerkit even had tried to do when crashing into his leg like that his knowledge to understand kits being very low. Vulturemask would blink at them before it falls into place. " That was...impressive." he tried to praise them but at the back of his head felt very awkward in even doing so. Hopefully that would be enough. He had never been good with compliments but he was making an attempt here for them. After that he had left the den alongside Sunflowerkit and the other two and as he turned to face them again as he wanted to know how they where doing.

Sunflower was first to speak up telling him about their day. Training. Aha, that was something he already seen if that was what they meant anyhow. But then they moved on to tell him about founding a snail. A snail?. " I used to collect snail shells when i was a kit." Yes, that was correct. He had used to bury them outside believing the lie of an adult who had told him if he collected enough of them the snail king would arrive and they would grant him one wish. Being the naive and foolish kit he had been Leech had only wished for one thing. For his mother to be happy and not as miserable she always had told him she was. Maybe then she would play with them and groom his forehead now and then. Stupid. What a stupid kit he had been.

Before he could continue the conversation with his younger sibling Stormgaze would approach to join in. Vulturemask would acknowledge them with a look of unreadable emotions. He couldn't say he was much of a fan of this one but it had more to do with her bubbly personality and how much of a chatterbox she was. He would snort when it got mentioned he might not like losing. He supposed that was true. Vulturemask had always been a sour loser. " When have i ever lost?, beside games are no- " he begin but got interupted when he suddenly felt something small close to one of his legs. Vulturemask would glance down to find Sunflowerkit down there beside him noticing how little interest they seemed to have in Stormgaze as they gave nothing but a shake of their head to them. Vulturemask for sure wasn't used with someone being this attached to him, it was still weird and something he not yet fully acknowledged. Still he would let them stay beside him, and his tail would get brought closer to his sibling a sign of his protectiveness over them.

He closed his eyes as he begin to speak again. " It's up to them if they wanna play or not." He was not much for games but if his siblings wanted to play then maybe he could put aside his maturity just this once.

Sunstride said something that sparked his interest. Recent hunt?. Was he talking about the snail or something else?. In any case he was curious about what sort of adventures his sibling had been out on. " What hunt?." he glanced down on the small thing, ears perked slightly upwards showing genuinely interest, something he barely showed to anyone in this clan.
