I SAID, LEMME CHECK ♡ 09/02 PATROLS

ShadowClan is blessed with another day. It is something to be grateful for — in an easier life, it would come as something expected, a natural occurrence no doubt... memories of the fallen are brought upon the changing winds though, forcing Mirepurr into a sentimental state of mind. The change is not abrupt yet, but if one has a moment to stop, they might notice the slowly changing colors of leaves and the colder air during the evenings. It is still a few moons early to imagine a stark white blanket covering the forest, but if the Clan is to prepare in advance, bracing for leaf-bare is a must.

"It's time for another round of patrols!"

Mirepurr watches as the Clan comes from a variety of points; some from their respective dens, some from a favored spot in camp, and some come through the entrance just in time to catch the important parts. Idly, they wonder; what would the next set of disasters be for them? They wouldn't call it pessimism... but one would be way too naive, even Mirepurr, to think their daily lives would not be interrupted by something heavy in the future.

In the meantime, they can focus on the mundane.

"Ferndance, will you watch over Starlingheart and Marblepaw as they scout the territory for herbs? Maybe they can teach you, Sycamorepaw and Lilacfur a thing or two about nurturing plants." A warrior would surely be hard-pressed to perfect the medicine cats' job in one single patrol, but Mirepurr thinks it is worth a try to nudge their attention in the right way. There are bound to be stalks that will die out soon with the lack of greenleaf heat... and some that require special attention before the frost arrives.

It is easy to find their former apprentice in the crowd next. "Snowlark can take a patrol to ThunderClan with Lizardthroat and Wormwatcher. They've been rather secretive about their absence at the Gathering, so just... don't ruffle their feathers too much." ThunderClan had said everything is in order; Mirepurr has no reason not to believe them, but it is odd for Howlingstar to not lead her Clan into the peaceful clearing if there is nothing urgent to worry about. "I'll accompany you too with Plumpaw." A wholly selfish decision... it is nigh time Mirepurr gets to accompany Snowlark on a patrol again.

"Batchaser, please bring Halfsun, Thrasherthroat and Haretooth with you to the Carrionplace. There might be something worthwhile before the season really takes a turn." Thrasherthroat would surely appreciate the chance to go dumpster diving once more.

With their tail slowly moving to and fro, Mirepurr takes a breather... then, it's back to business before they know it. Familiarizing themself with the duties of deputy has been easy enough so far.

"Flintwish can take Ashenfall, Bloodpaw and Shriketalon to the WindClan border. Have fun." Mirepurr does not wink, but the mirth in their voice should be enough to get the point across. The new couple deserves an ounce of privacy — there is a reason they do not assign Wormwatcher to go with them. If Sunstar's moor-dwellers try anything, these four cats should be equipped to deal with them anyhow.

Mirepurr had picked out a specific set of warriors for the next task at hand. "And last but not least... Willowburn, I'd like you to oversee a training session for the apprentices. I'd like to see a refresher on battle and stealth tactics, please." Always important to take care of the 'paws. It is no secret that such a "patrol" is not well-loved by some warriors, especially those who lack an apprentice of their own, but it must be done nevertheless. Days would be shorter soon; it gives ShadowClan a clear-cut advantage. It would serve them best to prepare accordingly. "Bring Stonepaw, Swallowpaw and Gigglepaw primarily. Lividsmoke, Swansong and Forestshade as well."

Satisfaction brims underneath Mirepurr's pelt. There has been a startling lack of concerning events, and it gives the Clan a chance to take a pause amidst the chaos of life. Their next idea sparks to life with ease.

"Everyone, have a successful day! Once all patrols are finishied, I'd like to propose sharing tongues in the evening... we deserve to lounge about a little, if you ask me."

Hearing his name be called among the list of warriors, the bicolored tom languidly makes his way towards Mirepurr sending his friend a smile. He's a bit surprised by the listings of warriors and apprentices being sent out on patrol, especially him. Him? Leading a patrol? Is he really cut out for leading? A large ear twitches when he hears the rest of the warriors he's leading.

Halfsun, Thrasherthroat... and Haretooth. He lets out a breath when his younger brother is mentioned on the list. Good. He won't be alone with some cats he didn't know well. At all. Even if they are his clanmates. Batchaser turns his head, hidden gaze traveling across the clearing to find his newly granted patrolmates. Pale splashed paws took him toward his alabaster - hued brother, whiplike tail swaying behind him in a calm matter.

Head tilting to the side slightly, he opens his split - colored lips voice coming out in a sleepy drawl. "Well... Ain't this a surprise, Dear Brother. Come along then." Hidden eyes glance over to the two other warriors who were called forth, his tail motioning them as well to follow as he started to drift towards the camp's entrance.

Her eyes settled upon Starlingheart and Marblepaw, blinking slowly towards them. It would be the second time in recent moons she had attended a herb patrol with them, the last one had been interrupted with a training session, this time, it seemed it would be up to the medicine cats to teach her, Lilacfur and Sycamorepaw a thing or two about plants. She swiveled her head back around towards Mirepurr, nodded, then turned her attention back towards the former two. "We'll go now. They say things are easier to catch when they're eating," she decided, half-sincere, half-sincerely making it up. It made sense for most creatures, she doubted a rodent would see them with its head buried in a bundle of seeds, but plants? Plants were more of a mystery, certainly eating, but when did a creature that only needed to sleep every couple of moons or so actually feed?

"Because plants... they eat at sunhigh. So... they'd be easier to find?" She decided, looking towards Starlingheart for validation. At the very least, it would not be harder to find them. She wagged her tail until it reached a straight point above her head, waiting for the others to rally besides her before taking off into the wilderness.

Stonepaw was better this time around about showing his excitement. He'd take all the training he could get, anything to make him stronger and better. Mirepurr spoke, their voice having grown confidence in the moon since becoming deputy. He dipped his head in acknowledgement, before looking to see if he could find Willowburn in the crowd.

[ ༻❄༺ ] Another moon passes by and another list of patrols were made. This time Snowlark was entrusted to lead a patrol to Thunderclan, which luckily the deputy will be joining meaning if someone were to get out of line and not listen to the young warrior their former mentor could put them back in line, and it was a sense of familiarity to have Mirepurr along for a patrol which made a soft slight smile peer on his lips before dipping their head towards the deputy. Surely Wormwatcher would not be pleased by being led on a patrol with someone much younger than him at the head but, Lizzardthroat on the other paw wouldn't mind and Mirepurr was with them too who entrusted Snowlark with this task.

"Prepare yourselves to head out quickly." he stated towards those on his payrol. He will not waste any precious seconds with this, and besides he doubts that Thunderclan will be their normal chatty selves again so they might as well get it done quickly so they can all enjoy the rest of the day off. But, Snowlark was eager to finally lead his first patrol even if there will be plenty more in the future to come for the tom.

It was a bit disappointing that they hadn't been assigned into a patrol and instead had been instructed to train the apprentices in camp. Lividsmoke had hoped they would have gotten a chance to enjoy their peace as a warrior for a little while before having to deal with training an apprentice. In the future for sure that was a goal of theirs to make sure to train the future warriors in the clan to become fine warriors far better then their own mentors had been able to do for them in their own training. But that sort of responsibility they had wished to wait a bit with until they had grown into thier new role a bit. Mirepurr had different plans for them though. There was no way out of this. Lividsmoke had to make the best of this situation. Surely, Mirepurr most see skilled potential in them if wishing them to be a part of this group to teach out this soon, or it was a test to see if they where ready to take on an apprentice soon.

"Oh? Of course, I shall see to it." Willowburn was surprised by the task that he had given but he looked genuinely excited about it. Already his mind was whirling with ideas and plans to help make the training session interesting for both the apprentices and the warriors tasked with joining. He fully intended to utilise them in some way or form, no one was going to be treated to an easy day. With a flick of his bushy tail, he turned to leave whilst singing a merry little song to himself.
