They had survived the first leaf bare in Thunderclan. It had been rough, especially with the three litters of kits that had been born. He liked kits, but he wished the queens would have waited until Greenleaf. Food had already been scarce to begin with without all of the extra mouths to feed.

The seal point tom would emerge from the Warrior's den and take in a deep breath. Newleaf was here...it was time to start strengthening up the rest of the clan. Once the prey started returning, the clan wouldn't have to sleep hungry again until the next leaf bare. During his time as a kitty pet, he had never had to experience an empty belly. Even during their travels, his owners had always made sure he and his brother always had food and a warm place to sleep. Somedays he missed his owners, but they had deserted them. He had lived with them for as long as he could remember, and he had been alive for many moons. The severity of the betrayal he felt towards them was extreme.

Sweeping his intense, icy blue eyes across the camp, he would pad towards the center. Flycatcher hadn't assigned him to anything today, so he would spend his free time hunting. "Whoever wants to go hunt, meet me by the exit...and hurry up, we're wasting daylight." he added on the last bit, even though the sun had just started to rise.

Squeak Squeak

Newleaf was upon them and to say the least, Mothpaw was excited, the leaves will return, so will the warmth that the sun provided. No more gloomy grey clouds that would threaten them with rain or snow. Prey will become more and more plentiful, which was exiting as they'll also become easier to catch once they've become fat and lazy, their bellies filled with food.

At the offer of going on a hunting patrol the apprentices ears perked up as she quickly made her way over in silent excitement. Hopefully this time around she'd be able to catch something at least, she had always been terrible at hunting due to her always jumping at the slightest of sound, and then she wondered to herself if Frostglare would even want the apprentice to join in on the patrol. She silently began to beg to Starclan to allow her to catch something today.
"speak""Thoughts"

Berryheart had near understood those who rushed into work... the precious hours before the day began was time to indulge, not to waste by shredding it as useless. Firmly did the medicine cat believe that making the most of your own time was important- though, perhaps what Ice-eyes enjoyed most was hunting. He surmised from the general low energy of the camp that patrol had not been called yet... and he was sure he would have heard his own name called at least once had Blue given the announcements.

Though he was not fond of working early, as there was already a party going out and he was already awake, unused to the earlier sunrises... perhaps he could indulge in a nap later if he knocked some gathering out of the way now. With quite the time-wasting stretch, the dappled medicine cat finally limped his beeline, a drowsy blink overtaking his half-lazy gaze. "Can I come?" he murmured, always polite enough to ask. He made no attempt to stifle his yawn, however.

☀ - WHILST MY HEART STILL BEATS
The seasons were finally in the grip of change and Sunnyday found himself longing for the better prey-filled days to come. After the previous wildfire that interrupted greenleaf hunting, and then a rough leafbare on top of it all it was about time they were given a break. The tom overheard Frostglare's open invitation for a hunting patrol so he made an effort to get to his paws so he could join the group. Though not without first calling for his apprentices, who he hoped to drag out with him.

"I shall like to accompany you on the patrol. With luck we can bring home a few decent catches." Sunnyday remarked with a nod of his head as he waited for Frostglare to lead the way once everyone was ready.

sandpaw was only just waking up when she heard sunnyday's call. golden gaze peered out of the den and then her eyes narrowed. the sun had only just began to even think about rising! why on earth were they up so early. round tipped ears tilted backwards as she released a dramatic yawn, scanning the den for lichenpaw. no way she was going to do this alone. sandpaw prodded the other apprentice with a large paw, making sure he was awake, before leaving and moving to her mentor's flank.

half-lidded and tired eyes, she glanced around the group before stretching. hunting, they were hunting. at this hour? "are we sure all the prey isn't asleep," sandpaw muttered, short tail swishing once behind her before she sat with a thud, waiting to head out.

( ) Lichenpaw lies in his nest, his sleep having been fitful and slow-arriving as always. He hears Sunnyday's call, of course, already being awake, but maybe if he just keeps pretending to be asleep, he can ignore it... That is, unless his fellow apprentice decides to poke him very rudely, causing the oblivious cat to startle and reveal how very awake he is. Lichenpaw casts a side-eyed glare up at Sandpaw before he stands, stretches.

Alright, whatever. The tortie point has barely slept at all, but he's not going to deny a hunting trip. They follow Sandpaw over to their shared mentor, plaster a half-hearted smile onto their face, not quite able to pull the annoyance from their tired eyes. "They should be, honestly, it's way too early for anyone to be awake." A yawn interrupts his words, only further illustrating their point. "Aren't there those -- aren't some animals only awake at night, though? Maybe we'll catch a uh, a bat, or something. A bat that's staying up past his bedtime." He snorts at his own words. If he's got to be up this early, everyone will just have to deal with his sleepy ramblings -- which aren't that different from his normal ramblings, really.
