It was kit-ish of her, she knew, but these days invited play. The clouds overhead were so fluffy, they looked like sweet treats she'd seen two-legs indulge in. They cast soft shadows that cascaded through the trees, caressing each leaf before painting the ground lavender purple. The dying sun cast it's orange rays through the oaks. The wind played with her whiskers, wafting the scent of prey to the molly. Easy pickings today - but the mice and birds could rest easy. The huntress was not looking for them.
Squinting, the molly searched for patches of shadows. Her tail hung low, repressed twitches echoed in the shadow she cast. No, that one does not look like her,
She shifted, claws making holds where they could not find any. She had approached her best friend with a game of hide-and-go-seek, and though she felt very odd asking, she did not regret the time spent. The two mollys had not gotten time to themselves lately with all of their duties - Florabreeze was now a warrior, a lead warrior at that. She molly couldn't help feel a spark of pride at the thought as she checked another shadow. Not pride because she had taught Florabreeze, pride that her friend had gotten herself the position.
How rusty have I gotten? she muses, locking in on an odd fern. Something about the way it moves... Another breeze tickles her nose as she squints. Was that her?

  • Takin place before all the sad character dev stuff. Another win for liquid time >:)

The invitation to indulge in some lighthearted fun would never go astray for Florabreeze, she relished at the opportunity to spend time with Sorrelsong at the best of times. To spend time with her dear friend and be able to indulge in the frivolities of play? She had never agreed to something faster, as she brushed against pine trees in the goal for hiding she realised that it may actually not work in her favour. She was an imposing body if she wanted to be, large in all senses of the word thanks to her maine coon genetics and pampering. Florabreeze had requested that hiding in the trees be off limit for the sake of the game being fair but now she was regretting that choice.

Green eyes flicker up to the branches of the trees, her saving grace would have been the foliage if she was able to get up there. Climbing didn't always work in her favour though so she tried to not engage in it aside from necessity. It was refreshing, there was a concern that with a title like lead warrior that things may feel different. Anxities around those closest to her viewing her slightly differently because of this new title, thankfully that hadn't seemed to be the case.

Her refuge was within a particularly large bush, hidden amongst the ferns. There was enough plant life to effectively hide her so she took the advantage without a second thought. As she laid within the bushes she peered out at her friend, her fur seemed to have started to grow back in more even sections. Symbolism she supposed, maybe? Showing how far her friend has come, she may not have known her back at Twolegplace but she assumed that she was much happier now.

The sound of leaves crunching underpaw caused her head to perk up and she grinned to herself as a new idea entered her mind. Leaping from the gathering of ferns in an attempt to playfully pin the she-cat successful or not she'd immediately depart from her. “How about we play some tag? Gotta make sure you can still keep up” her purr is melodic, it's always been easy to fall into beat with Sorrelsong after all.

A sharp yelp, then laughter as her friend pinned her to the ground. A snorting sound made it's way out of the smoke, tickling her insides all the way up. She had taught her well. A smile warms her face in the tree's shadows, lighting up her eyes in the way only Florabreeze seemed to be able to.
As she recovers, she finds herself hoping again the Florabreeze taught her something too, and she knows in her bones that the molly has. Since arriving at Sky Clan, Sorrelsong gained a name, a family in her brother and the clan, gained purpose - but never confidence. That was mostly attributed to the maine coon before her. The questions turned to friendly banter turned to something in her not breaking, but relaxing. She had felt hole when Florabreeze gained her name in a way she had once hoped earning hers would.
It was through Florabreeze that Sorrelsong learned what made connecting with others so special. In a platonic way, and something more. Her thoughts turn to Florabreeze's suitors, and she once again found herself wishing them all well. Florabreeze deserved someone kind and wonderful, someone equal to her. Sorrelsong was not that for many reasons, but she was more then happy to watch Florabreeze grow from afar. She knew Flora would help encourage others to grow - it was simply who she was. But - Sorrelsong noted with a competetive flare in her eyes - Sorrelsong was good at games. It was simply who she was. And tag was a battle field she had left in her kithood - she was sure she'd dominate it once again.
"Oh I can keep up," She mrrowed, a wicked smile crossing her face. "Question is - can you," With that Sorrelsong would dart to the side of Florabreeze, touching the molly with her flank or tail, then contuining and running as fast as she could. As she runs, her mind wanders to the trees - a comfort and a place where Sorrelsong knew she'd be quicker on her paws then the ground. There were no twigs or leaves to trip over, but she remembered the rules Flora had requested they play by eariler. She ran past, scowering the grounds for anything that would be of advantage.
It was funny, she thoughts between breathes, how easy it was to fall into step with Florabreeze. Things hadn't changed that much, and she was so, so grateful.

She holds no doubts over Sorrelsong's capabilities, instead she anticipated that she would be naturally adept at the game of tag. There's hope that any tension she carries will fade at the prospect, judging by the glimmer in her eye and that wicked smile that crosses her face she'd assume that this is the case. Her friend is met with an exaggerated gasp, Florabreeze brings a paw to her chest as if to clutch at her heart. "Of co-" she began, a dramatic rant on her maw only to be met with surprise as the she-cat touches her flank.

She could have sworn that she only blinked and suddenly the running form of the point warrior becomes smaller by the second. The maine coon wastes no time to chase after her, she's decent with endurance, while not as fast as the she-cat she can no doubt hold up a pace until the older feline grows tired.

With curiosity she wonders if Sorrelsong will rely on the trees, she was much more adept with climbing compared to the lead warrior. Thankfully it seems that she won't be, though that falter in steps to admire the trees provides Florabreeze the chance to catch up slightly.

"You should at least let me finish talking!" She calls out with a laugh, doesn't Sorrelsong know the etiquette of playful trash talking in such competitive games like this? There's no serious ire over this, instead finding delight in seeing how energetic she is. Florabreeze is embarassed to admit how long it takes her to catch Sorrelsong's side but when she does she taps her own tail against the chocolate seal point's flank.

"How are you so fast anyways?" she calls out as she thunders past her, hoping to weave between the gathered pine trees around them to try and cause obstacles. "I swear you weren't this fast when you were my mentor! Weedpaw making you run marathons?" Her call is teasing but light, hoping to engage in some kind of banter while they ran. Never able to keep quiet, even when tasks such as this required all her concentration.
