Dusk had fallen too quickly, everything had happened too quickly.
Her mind was still reeling, and the eyes glued to her and her family were burning.
It wasn't until the sky had turned indigo that the warrior excused herself, delicate promises that she would be right back- she just needed some air.
Her paws had never felt heavier as she glided through a trodden path that she knew better than the back of her paw. She begins to recount the memories, the words that were spat from her aunts maw.
Frustration, anger, grief, anxiety, and despair, switching back and forth like a twisted game of mossball, except her emotions were the toy.
She needed…
A heavy step turns into a hesitant trot just moments before her gait is now a desperate sprint, breaking into the open moors.
What did she need?
Him.
No.
Elmbreeze.
No!

The terrified part of her mind argues with reason, but she is still running- if someone were to have been out at this hour, they might have thought something ferocious was just a hare-length behind her.
Outlook rock comes into view, and Echolight forced herself to a stop, dust kicking up a cloud.
"Fuck… fuck fuck fuck." A word hardly spoken from her lips, but now it is on repeat.
He can't be her shoulder to cry on, because he isn't apart of her clan.
Defeated, she falls back on her haunches. Her worst fears had come true tonight, she lost her family, and had found herself falling for that damned Riverclan warrior.
A scarred paw raises to her temple in exasperation. She needed to be there for her family, she didn't have time for a forbidden romance of all things.
A soft sob suddenly grasps her, rattling her shoulders until she is struggling for a breath of air.
She knows it's foolish, unrequited, and selfish to even think the thought that is running through her mind.
Stars, I wish we could have never left that spot by the river.
"Speech."
