private IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THE TIME ˗ˏˋ ❀ ´ˎ˗ FORESTSHADE

Her queen days had passed by so fast. She misses them, it was busier, more challenging, juggling her medicine cat duties with being a mother but at least then she had had all three of them by her side. Nettlekit with his cinnamon fur and bright smile, Ghostkit with her quiet sullenness that reminded her so much of her father, and Flintkit who resembled Granitepelt but who she could see so much of herself in. She loved all of them, but now all but one were gone. Whether that was by way of the stars or because their paws had been led on a different path. Flintpaw was here, but she was often busy with the trials of apprenticeship and Starlingheart did not spend nearly as much time with him as she wanted to.

Forestshade reminds her of those days, of early motherhood. They had been queens together, after all. But more than that, Forestshade reminds her of a time when her mother was alive. She had been Briarstar's apprentice, the only cat outside of their flesh and blood who she would consider as close to her as they had been. Closer even, because she is older than herself and her memories of the spiky furred leader are probably not as hazy as they are for her. This was something she should have done a long while ago, but there was a part of her that had been selfish, that had wanted to keep her mothers grave all to herself. But that wasn't right, and Starlingheart knew it.

So here they were, making their way through the pine forest with only one good eye between them. She is not yet used to the limited vision, her head swivels about at every noise and her tail swishes anxiously but they make it to their destination. Fourtrees. "Bonejaw took her- took her here after uh.. well. You know." she explains, though she is certain her companion remembers. Her ears flatten at the thought of that horrible day, of the memory of her aunt dragging her mothers flattened body by the scruff. To be with Amber she had said. "Its farther than the other graves but I-I come here before every-every uh every muh-me-medicine cats meeting to take care of it" to brush leaves off the area, to bring flowers, to speak to her star-pelted mother, though all she could do in return was listen. Now though, the medicine cat hangs back a little so as to allow Forestshade the opportunity to pay her respects privately.

/// FOUND IT!!! yayyy we can finally rp this out LOL

Forestshade pads just behind Starlingheart's ever-twitching tail. Yeesh, she can practically feel the anxiety radiating off of her. Aren't there herbs for chilling out or something? But she can't be too cruel; the medicine cat is probably one of the only cats who won't earn the torbie's sarcastic tongue right now. She's been through too much, and the least she can do is try to be a little nice. "Why is it all the way out here?" She questions curiously. The clan's graveyard is just outside of camp, so why would they bury Briarstar so far away?

She can tell they've arrived when Starlingheart's paws stop. Lowering her head to brush her whiskers against the ground, Forestshade moves to pad to the she-cat's side, her maw shaping into a soft frown. Now that they're here, it all seems so much more...serious. Memories of the great clan founder grow fuzzier by the day, but she'll never forget her. Her daughter is named after her. Her training was begun by her. She sighs and sits down, kicking at the ground absent-mindedly. "Uh...hey, teach." It comes as an awkward mumble, and she grimaces as ears pull back against her head. "Look, I don't know how to pray or anything. Not really," She explains to Starlingheart, muzzle shifting in her direction.
