  • The days now burn hotter than ever... the sun is most joyous and vibrant this time of year and soon leaf-fall will follow. The kits that reach their sixth moon today are the lucky ones... who will get a taste of a carefree, easy season. There are many... Iciclefang's brood are among them and selfishly, she is eager to have a capable, reliable warrior back on her feet. No more half-contextualized meetings of the council... she will know it all. Be apart of it all. Just like before.

When she ascends the river stones this morning, it is not with weightless joy. Their last moon has not been without loss, without hardship... there are those that should be here still that are no longer. That is the same as always, isn't it? Lichenstar cannot remember a moon not haunted by death. Her summoning draws in the many faces of her clan-mates and with it, memories of times spent sharing dens with most of them. Wistfully, she regrets not doing more to connect with them, though she would've floundered too even if she'd tried back then...

"Before... we celebrate the growth.... of our clan..." Her eyes search for a monochrome pelt, eyes softened with understanding and a lingering disappointment. "Boneripple... is it... your wish... to give up... the title of warrior.... and go... to join the elders?" She knows the answer, it had been shared already in confidence, in the quiet of the willows. She need only wait for her to say it aloud to make it official before the clan, "Very well.... your clan honors your... and the moons of service... you have given us. I ask StarClan... to give you many... moons of rest." She was not of exceptional age but... sometimes one never adapted to such a life alerting injury as a lost limb (annoyingly, that does make Sunstar's resilience all the more impressive).

The corners of her lips lift at the gathering of kittens that wrestle amongst the front in eager wait for their ceremonies, at the hungry calico stare. "We have many... new apprentices to name today... Crabkit... Pinekit... Cragkit... come forward." The conversation she'd had with their mother still echoes in their mind, a reminder of the choices she'd have to make, the ones she'd made. "You've all reached... your sixth moon... it's time you begun... your training. Crabkit... from this day forward... until you receive your warrior name.... you will be known as Crabpaw. Your mentor... will be Cicadaflight." She seeks Iciclefang's gaze first, hoping she will approve of the choice- who better to teach her son than her own apprentice? "Your mother... was a fine teacher... to him... and I trust... he will teach you.. his loyalty... and bravery. Cragkit.... from now on until... you receive your warrior name... you'll be known... as Cragpaw. Ferngill," she says, giving her lead warrior an encouraging glance, "Will be your mentor.... He'll teach you... RiverClan's values... and that strength... comes in the form of resilience." He'd been a bit of a late bloomer... and proven himself worth the wait. "Pinekit... your name... until you are made a warrior... will be Pinepaw. Your mentor... is to be Iciclefang." as requested... though she'd hardly call it a bad request. "She leaves big paw-steps.... for you to fill.... learn all you can.... from her quick wits... and bravery."

The three are given the space to touch noses with their mentors, to celebrate the bonds of family that continue to link them.

"Roekit, Snowkit... Graykit," she beckons them forward, eyes resting on the gray-furred tom with a small frown. "Until you receive your... warrior name... you will be known as Roepaw," she begins again, finding the sunshine child before her gaze seeks out the night-dusted molly that will train him, "Your mentor... is Beefang. She's proven herself... a ferocious... and strong warrior.... she will teach you much. Snowkit- your name... until it becomes... that of a warrior... will be Snowpaw." The lumbering shade of a tom spited by fate finds itself in her focus, "Your mentor is... Houndstride He's been... a dutiful and independent warrior... for many moons. He'll keep you safe... and teach you all he knows." Safe...? Why had she said that... to this unfortunate mimic... to this child whose name feels like claws in her belly? "Graykit..." Her brows pinch despite her will to remain neutral, "from this day forward... until you're given... your warrior name.... you'll be known.. as Graypaw." Though she is uncertain that this will keep him from being held too tightly, it seems promising with someone like Splashpaw nearby to help kindle his dour spirits towards lightness. "Your mentor... will be Lakemoon. She is loyal... meticulous... a strong warrior. Learn all you can."

That is out of the way... which leaves only one thing left. Her chin lifts, seeking out the ever-glowering face of the last announcement. "I, Lichenstar... leader of RiverClan.... call upon StarClan to... look down on this apprentice... She has trained hard... to understand the warrior code... and I commend her... as a warrior in turn..." Willowroot looks practically bursting with pride.. and why shouldn't she be? How many times had she been a source of raising RiverClan's finest? "Midnightpaw... do you promise... to uphold the warrior code... and defend your clan... even at the cost... of your life?"

If he was to be completely honest, Roekit wasn't sure if he wanted to leave the warmth of the nursery, didn't want to go out into the territory every day away from his mother and his siblings. Sure it was cramped in there, sure there were days where he felt bored out of his mind, but that was okay because he had Swiftfire, he had Dreamkit, he had Amberkit. Still, he knew it was coming so he did not fight it - much.

Groomed to perfection, fur lying flat the kitten had been ushered out of the nursery pressed hard against his mother's side, small shakes of his body easily mistaken as excitement for those that didn't know him. Words fell from Lichenstar's maw, dropping onto the ground as they muddled together before suddenly the kit was being moved forward, the ringing in his ears coming to a halt when his own name fell within that puddle, baby blues snapping over to the leader of RiverClan as she spoke StarClan's will down upon them. Eyes widened when he heard the news - his new name, his new mentor - and it took all the strength the kit - now apprentice - could muster to not cry out, to not shake so violently that he was buried within the ground in that moment.

He did not want to be an apprentice, but he especially did not want to be her apprentice. She was scary, scars covering her face and as long as he'd known her Beefang had had a permanent angry face. Still he did not protest, already too-wide eyes moving to look towards the daughter of Smokestar and Cicadastar before he'd move forward, just as he'd seen others do before him and as he'd been instructed to do by his mother to touch his nose to hers, the whole time praying to StarClan that he wouldn't pass out from the fear alone.

Today is the day. Cragkit, Pinekit, and Crabkit have been groomed within an inch of their lives; her eldest's pelt gleams like newly-minted silver, her daughter's dappled fur shines under the glow of the sun, and her youngest's coat is like dazzling, cream-ribboned fire. She ushers them toward the front of the gathering crowd, her heart quickening between her ribs as Lichenstar ascends River Rock. Today is the day you begin your warrior training, she thinks, and her blue eyes glow with fondness — and, to anyone perceptive enough to notice, with relief. She is ready to resume warrior duties, and she knows Lichenstar is in need of capable paws on her council once more.

She is ready.

Iciclefang waits with some impatience as Boneripple's name is called. What has the skunk-streaked she-cat done now, she wonders with some ire, until she realizes the former ShadowClan medicine at has requested to join the elder's den. Some of her frustration ebbs, though she squints around, trying to identify the she-cat through the crowd. Perhaps it is for the best.

Her ears flick to attention. Lichenstar is calling her children forth, and they stand in line, sleek-furred and strong and well-grown. Her heart swells with pride as each of them is named and apprenticed. "Cragpaw," her oldest, is given to Ferngill. The tortoiseshell warrior blinks fondly as she waits for the two of them to touch noses — it's only fitting her brother's first apprentice is his kin, too, and she's confident Cragpaw will not disappoint him. Her kit is studious and enthusiastic about his role in RiverClan.

Crabpaw, her youngest, is apprenticed to Cicadaflight. Iciclefang nods imperceptibly — a perceptive and excellent choice by her leader, she thinks. Cicadaflight had been raised and mentored strictly, militaristically, and he will not squander Crabpaw's potential, she thinks. Smokestar, are you watching from StarClan? Your son mentors mine... She closes her eyes for just a moment, feeling the stagnant breeze on her whiskers.

At last, her daughter's name is called. Pinepaw. Iciclefang's blue gaze narrows with purpose as she steps forward, abandoning her place as the Clan's queen and resuming her place as RiverClan's lead warrior. She touches her nose to Pinepaw's, her movements perfunctory and perfect. "We will see the territory immediately," she murmurs. "Let us wait for Lichenstar to finish, first, though."

Warmth floods through the cool tortoiseshell's chest as she settles in place beside Pinepaw, as Midnightpaw is called forth to receive her warrior name. She feels as though she is where she belongs again, and her limbs ache with the desire to hit the river water, to lope through the reeds and willows until her paws begin to bleed.

Be prepared, Pinepaw. Much lays ahead of us now.

Robinheart’s steps are uneven though her resolve is steadfast. Meetings hold a special place in her chest - a gathering of her clanmates to uplift each other and know of the intimate going ons of each precious life residing in RiverClan. Among the crowd she is not just a medicine den resident, a queen, a daughter - she is part of the lifeblood of her home. The tortoiseshell seats herself nearby the nursery; near where bright eyes and curled ears may poke their heads out in youthful curiosity.

She also sits there in support of her fellow queens now returning to their warrior duties. Iciclefang and Swiftfire herd their meticulously groomed children to the River Rock to be called upon by Lichenstar - to be made apprentices and assigned to mentors. Robinheart’s kits have moons yet until it is their turn. She’s grateful for such time. The queen doesn’t want to give them up yet, not after she has barely had the chance to raise them.

Lichenstar begins the meeting with a retirement: Boneripple to the elders den. It is a sore spot to lose a warrior, but Robinheart hopes Boneripple gets the much needed rest she requested. The queen is certain her kits will flood the new elder’s ears with plenty of questions in the days to come.

The apprentice ceremonies follow suit. So many kits now given their ‘paws and entrusted to RiverClan’s best and finest. Many of Robinheart’s friends claim the kits she had watched grow up. Part of her pangs knowing she will not be a prospective mentor for a long time. She’d love to prove herself a capable warrior and mentor just as Willowroot had been to her. Regardless she is proud, so proud, of the new batch of apprentices. The queen knows they are all destined for greatness as students under capable mentors.

Midnightpaw is the final one called forward, Willowroot’s apprentice ready for her warrior name. Citrine eyes scan the crowd for the smoke warrior - hoping to catch a glimpse of pride in green eyes and remember how Willowroot had gazed upon Robinheart with that same pride. She is sure this day is bittersweet for her former mentor.

Meetings are almost always bittersweet. Such is the way of life though. Everyone must grow and move onto their next stage.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 The leader calls for a clan meeting, and Crabkit already knows what’s so important about it. Him and his siblings had all spent the morning being groomed to perfection by their mother… not that Crabkit is complaining, of course. He’d thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of the queen so close, caring for him one last time before he becomes an apprentice. And it pays off, because his fur looks shiny like the river’s surface on a calm day, yet bright and warm just like the sun. His fur would probably look even better if he could hold still for even the slightest moment, but as it is the boy just can’t stop fidgeting around. He and his siblings are all getting their apprentice names—there’s so much to be excited about! He’s going to see the territory at last, and the borders, and practice some fish-catching for real! (Although that last one brings the taste of blood rising into his mouth, and Crabkit has to stop for a second and swallow thickly.)

His name is called first from the gathered kits, and the boy’s brows shoot upward with surprise. Me? he mouths to the leader, pressing a paw against his chest. Why did he get chosen to go first? Is it because he’s the youngest, so she wants to make sure he’s ready or something? Mossy green eyes remain fixed on the leader as she continues on, naming him Crabpaw. He casts a glance to Iciclefang, bright-eyed, expectant. She’s going to be so proud of him—of all of them! His mentor is spoken into being, and it’s… Cicadaflight! The glittering of fish scales and blood dripping from a torn ear flashes through his mind, along with things like… fucker. He smiles up at the much taller RiverClanner as his littermates are named, one by one. Cragpaw will be mentored by their uncle, and Pinepaw will be mentored by their mother. Crabpaw is the only one who isn’t being mentored by kin. But then Snowpaw and Graypaw are named, and neither of them have kin as their mentors, either. So he isn’t worried. He watches some of the others greet their mentors, then turns to greet his own.

It’s weird. He’d been so excited for this day for so long, and now that it’s here it seems a bit… lackluster? No, no, not quite. Mundane? That sounds more like it. There’s no great celebration from the river, no shooting stars across the sky. There’s just him, Crabkit-now-Crabpaw, and there’s just Cicadaflight, his mother’s former apprentice and now Crabpaw’s mentor. He shakes off the feeling, though, and stretches up to attempt to touch Moses with his new mentor. "Hi, Cicadaflight! You’re gonna be my mentor, that’s so fun, right?" Bright eyes widen with joy, hoping that the older tom will be just as happy as he is. Cicadaflight is usually kind of rough-voiced, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be happy, does it? Crabkit-paw is suddenly reminded of all the things he’s going to get to see now, and his ginger paws tap excitedly against the earth below. "When do we start training? Tomorrow? Today?" He could go out on a patrol right now—or as soon as the meeting ends, at least.

જ➶ Today is the day. Today. Her own heart hammers in her chest and the mere fact that she can not seem to leave Willowroot's side says many things. Her paws shake with her own nerves and excitement. She has passed with flying colors despite all the needless drama and flashing fangs she has has to endure. Her breathing is steady as she settles down after the call from Lichenstar and her head is helped up high. The first thing mentioned is that former Shadowclanner and her being submitted to the Elder's den. Her gaze finds the black and white molly who merely dips her head within the crowd of cats. Hmm. Still she pulls her gaze away from someone that is merely a blip on her radar and focuses on what is to happen next. Her gaze narrows ever so slightly as kits are called up next. Watching them as they get their apprentice names and their mentors are given to them. A part of her wants to snort at who are mentors but she holds it in because as long as they make them loyal Riverclan warriors then that hardly matters.

"Roepaw! Snowpaw! Graypaw! Crabpaw! Cragpaw! Pinepaw!" The woman chants their names with ease. Though the emotional side of it is not as present. Her tail snaps back and forth as she waits, watching them touch noses to their mentors before she turns her gaze back to her leader as she begins the ceremony. With ease she moves, stepping forward to receive the limelight that was always meant for her. Her amber orbs are calm, serene in the fsce of what she is to become. Her loyalty has never wavered and the only thing she could have wished for to be different is that her father was here to witness it. Her head tilts up as she keeps her eyes on the leader of Riverclan. Hearing her speak with such authority. Uphold the warrior code and defend her clan even at the cost of her life. The answer is easy as breathing for her. "Of course, I do." She speaks with pure conviction of the future that she knows she wants to have here in her home.

-ˋˏ ༻ ❆༺ ˎˊ- She is shining today, her mother was certain to make sure of that. Pinekit couldn’t help but sit tall when Lichenstar called the clan forward, flame-kissed tail flicking across the ground in quick, hasty motions.
Before apprentice ceremonies, Boneripple was called forward, a cat Pinekit hadn’t gotten to know during her time in the nursery.
Sentenced to live out the older mollys days as an elder, dulled blue hues finally fixate on her and her milk-scented kin.
Alongside her brothers, Pinekit does as she is told, eyes of sun drops buzzing with a whirlwind of thoughts, it’s evident that staying so silent throughout this sacred ceremony is a bit of a struggle for the normally talkative girl. Crabpaw is passed to Cicadaflight first, and Pinekit’s whiskers twitch. That was going to be an interesting pair to watch, she thinks.
Cragpaw is assigned to Ferngill, and Pinekit would give him a small grin, that made sense.
Her name slides off the leaders tongue, and the brawny-built tortoiseshell is focused on nothing but Lichenstar as she announces Iciclefang to be her mentor.
The grin has stretched to a full-blown smile, electric and beaming. They are dismissed, and Pinepaw follows a familiar path back towards the chiseled frame of her mother, head tilting back to press her nose to Iciclefang’s. There is no eager light in her mothers frosty glare, but that’s okay, soon she would be molded into her poised image. “Okay,” with that excited hum, Pinepaw takes a place next to her mother, eyes trailing over to Midnightpaw and the other apprentices, hoping to catch a glance of cream-ribboned fur and a periwinkle bloom.

An emerald eye trained uponthe leader as her river-depth face greeted the crowd; he traced the movements of her mouth, finding Boneripple in the crowd- certainly not the first name ha'd been expecting. She was off to the elder's den- for all the ... all the eventfulness her joining had brought back in the day, she was Sablemist's mother. If she had stayed in ShadowClan, he never would have met his mate- affection swelled within him, and to Boneripple he blinked silent approval. Maybe that was a little too soft-hearted of him, but ... who'd expect anything less?

It was truly time, though- he couldn't believe it, honestly! All his little niblings, grown up already. Thinking of them claw-locked in battle, it scared him a little... but with Iciclefang as their mother, and with... well, whoever as mentors, he knew all of them would turn out to be strong, brave, incredible Riverclanners.

He'd expected it all to begin with Iciclefang's brood- what he hadn't been expecting was for him to mentor Cragpaw. Surprise flitted in his eye for a moment, just a moment- long ago he'd talked to Smokestar about the possibility of taking an apprentice, but it hadn't ever gone anywhere really. A solitary eye lit wih unfathomable joy- he couldn't hide it, the way a smile sprung right onto his face, the speed at which he rushed to find his new apprentice. Lowering his nose to touch Cragkit's- Cragpaw's, that was gonna take some getting used to- Ferngill chirped to him, "You'll swim circles around your siblings in no time," a playful thing, and not entirely a promise... but Stars, he'd try his best!

Pinekit was apprenticed to Iciclefang- yeah, that absolutely made sense. Little mirrors of each other ... though truthfully he could see Pinepaw growing to be broader. Crabkit- now Crabpaw, little Crabpaw, an apprentice! His assignment to Cicadaflight was a bit more of a surprise- but the more Ferngill thought about it, the more it made sense. Crabpaw would... probably need a sterner mentor, what with his reluctance when it came to certain things... but he knew Cicadaflight had a heart that would be kind to his nephew, too. Snowpaw was given to Hounstride, a sound choice- Houndstride was always a kind face, and one he trusted would teach his late sister's child well. And Cricketchirp to Graypaw... after what had happened with Streamkit, he had his work cut out for him.

Oh, he couldn't wait to start training Cragpaw... Ferngill's firey pelt buzzed with energy as he sat to observe the rest of the meeting, solitary eye finding Midnightpaw amongst them.

ꕀꕀ The meeting begins with Boneripple, who has been in the clan for as long as Sandpelt can remember. She’s a former ShadowClanner, but that doesn’t make her an outsider or anything. The three-legged cat is retiring to be an elder, which strikes him as somewhat odd—adjusting to a lost body part is hard, but is it that hard? Is it so terrible an injury that she has to sit around all day, not contributing to RiverClan at all? A frown slides across his muzzle, but he nods along with the leader’s decision.

Next, Lichenstar calls forward six kits to be apprenticed. First there’s Iciclefang’s five, and one of Swiftfire’s. It’s been long enough since his own warrior ceremony that he should be trusted to take one of them on, so the tom attempts to sit up a bit straighter as Lichenstar speaks.

He doesn’t get assigned to any of them, in the end. But as he watches the young ginger tom greet Cicadaflight, a flood of bitterness surges in his fluffy chest. That should be me. Does he not deserve an apprentice just as much as Cicadaflight, as much as Cricketchirp? He resents his mother for what she’d said about his eye, but is he really that much of a drag on the clan? Would he only manage to train a weak, incapable apprentice? Does Lichenstar see him as a useless warrior? He can’t shake the feeling, his lone eye darting everywhere except the leader even as he attempts to disguise his disappointment. "Crabpaw! Cragpaw! Pinepaw! Graypaw! Snowpaw! Roepaw!"

.·:*¨༺ ☾ ༻¨*:·. Lakemoon had been feeling equal parts of excitement and apprehension for her kits apprentice ceremonies. With that -paw attached to the end of their names Lakemoon would be able to watch them grow into their potential, she’d be able to take them with her to swim by the willow trees and explore the warm-hued meadows in leaf-fall. Would Snowkit excel in hunting, combat, or both? Would Graykit take to the river or prefer the land?
Their apprenticeship would be a new beginning, one to be excited for.
It had been, at least.
Graykit’s recent incident with Streamkit had changed something in her sons core, a mountainous chip on his shoulder that threatened to drown all he had been. It made sense, the shift in his behavior, what he had experience was nothing less than earth-shattering, and there was no one who could truly help him but Graykit’s own self. That is what concerned Lakemoon the most.
Narrow hues watch as her children are called forward, and as her daughter is deemed Snowpaw they are drawn away, sorting through the crowd to find none other than Houndstride. Lakemoon couldn’t think of a cat she would trust with her kits training more than him.
Graykit is named Graypaw and, a bit surprisingly, it is her name that is called after. Azure optics do not linger on her leader as she stands, they settle on Graypaw. Was that relief that fluttered in her chest just now?
While the tabby warrior had her own thoughts about parents mentoring their children, she was no ordinary parent, and Graypaw was no longer an ordinary child. Silently, she bends to touch her nose to his before guiding him to their spot, flicking a feathered tail against his spine to mimic her straight posture.
Midnightpaw’s warrior ceremony was next, but Lakemoon’s pupils do not stray from Lichenstar. Her leaders reaction to the incident still prickles hot, questioning needles down her spine, not fully unconvinced she didn’t fault Graypaw for what happened. She can’t help but wonder how would that star-touched shadow follow him into apprenticeship.

Cragkit's heart thuds with excitement as Lichenstar begins the ceremony. His fur is meticulously groomed for this moment, done up to perfection by his mother's stern tongue. He can't help but feel a surge of pride at how perfectly it shines - glossy like any true RiverClanner's. With bated breath, he leaves Iciclefang's side and moves to the front of the clan as he and his denmates are called forward. Mismatched eyes are wide and gleaming and he shuffles closer to his siblings.

Cragpaw. He's named Cragpaw, now. And he's assigned to none other than Ferngill! His breath catches in his throat as his gaze darts to his uncle. He'd always looked up to him, always loved his trinkets and stories. Ever since he'd told him about the fox's fang he'd been given, Ferngill had been his hero. And now, he's his mentor! He'd get to learn from him directly! As his uncle's warm and encouraging words reach his ears, the tricolored tom's eyes light up even brighter. He's eager, perhaps a little too eager, to start this new chapter of his life. Cragpaw takes a deep breath, trying to contain his excitement as he steps forward and touches noses with Ferngill. "Thank you, uncle," He mews, trying to steady his voice as he blinks round eyes up at him. "I can't wait to train! When do we start?" His paws twitch with anticipation as he glances back at his siblings, his smile widening. Far too caught up in his own specific ceremony, he can't even bring himself to pay attention to anyone else's. How can he? He is buzzing! This is just the beginning of the rest of his life, and he's ready to dive in headfirst!

This should be a happy day. An excited buzz fills the air from his denmates who were graduating to the apprentice den alongside him, from his aunt who meticulously grooms them to perfection. But while his pelt shines, not a hair out of place, his green eyes are dull, listless as he sits among his peers and he only half-hears the words that come from Lichenstar's mouth. A warrior is going to join the elders. Boneripple. He is not overly familiar with the black and white she cat but his gaze flickers briefly to her all the same. Only for a moment does he let his eyes longer before they are back on his paws, on the ground in front of him.

His cousins are called forward, and for a moment his heart turns sour with bitter disappointment that he was not called with them. They were like litter-mates to him but.. no. This is a stark reminder that they are not his brothers and sister's but rather his aunt's kits. His gaze flits to his own mother, who sits like a statue among the crowd, dark blue eyes shining with pride that makes him feel just a little bit lighter. He squares his shoulders and sits up a little more, trying to imitate her posture, to look bigger than his awkward kitten stature, to make himself look like the cat she is expecting him to be.

But then he remembers who he really is and the moment is gone. He slouches again, looks away from Lakemoon and Lichenstar and tries his best to be small, insignificant.

When finally his name is called, there is a roaring in his ears and he does not feel totally in control of himself as he stands, as he steps forward. It is like he is somewhere else, watching someone else pilot his limbs and propel them forward. There is a dull roaring in his ears as his brother is renamed to a paw and given her own mentor. And then it is his turn. His heart hammers in his chest, his ears flatten to the back of his skull in anticipation. A million possibilities run though him mind, but none could prepare him for what actually happens.

His mother. His mother was to be his mentor. He releases a breath then, his body relaxing as the visible relief causes tension to release it's grip on him and then he turns to that familiar gray pelt to touch noses silently before taking a seat next to her, his fluffy tail curling over his paws, a mirror image of his mother and now until he became a warrior, her shadow too.

GRAYKIT RIVERCLAN KITTEN ; HE / HIM
LILYBLOOM X LAKEMOON BROTHER TO SNOWKIT
A plush coated kitten with a pelt marbled in varying shades of gray and white. He has dull green eyes and a tall stature. Most of his personality can be described as carefree though some also say that unmotivated is a more than apt term. His trust and love is easily won through praise but he will do little work to receive it.
easy in battle + no formal training

  • The determined, sharp eyes that stare at her are ones that have been equally sharp in less than favorable ways too... Midnightpaw is a stubborn girl, one who believes she knows better than her elders. Whose tongue is laced in thorns most times. But competent... and more than grown up enough to slide into the rushing waters of her role as a warrior. There is no uncertainty in Lichenstar's mind that her confirmation of her duty, until death, is sincere. Her head bows, if only slightly, an acknowledgement of that promise. There are expanses beyond the trees that still called to them, even now... and someday not soon enough there would be a chance to prove that dedication.

"Then.... by the powers of StarClan... I give you... your warrior name. Midnightpaw... From this moment on... you will be known... as Midnightash. StarClan honors your... ferocity... and loyalty. We welcome you... as a full warrior... of RiverClan!" She is an image of flames and soot after fire... with a burning personality to match.

The blue lynx point offers a small smile, meant to share in her clan's joy as she brings her voice to rise and cheer for their newest warrior. "Midnightash! Midnightash!" As soon as the whooping and hollering has subsided, the RiverClan leader flicks a broken tail in dismissal, descending the river rocks to find Hazecloud and murmur, "What do you think...? I'm getting... better with names... Hopefully... by the time it's... ours' turn... I'll have thought of... something good."

જ➶ By the powers of Starclan. Hearing those words make her heart flutter in her chest and she hangs on to the words that Lichenstar says. Waiting ever so patiently as if this means more to her than anything else in the world. And if she has to be honestly it really does. It matters so much more than the air she breathes. Her dream to become a warrior of Riverclan since she was so small. Before things twisted and her father was taken away from her. Forcing her to rot with her mother who could care less about her struggles or even improvements. Amber orbs widen ever so slightly as the leader calls her by her new name. From this day forward she is known as Midnightash. Ferocity and loyalty. It's perfect. A low purr leaves her throat and she lifts her head to the sky, giving thanks to both Lichenstar and Starclan that watches from above them all. A pleasant smile forming as others chant her new name and give her that peace, that solace of a brighter future with more to come. "Thank you..." Is all she says as she dips her head.

Lichenstar continues her ceremonies, calling Midnightpaw to the front of the Clan. An expectant hush falls over the crowd; Iciclefang gently nudges Pinepaw, hoping she looks and listens well. Someday, that will be you there, with the leader's bright blue eyes burning through to your soul. It had been her, once, under Cicadastar's scrutiny; would that Pinepaw could have received her mantle under her former leader's gaze, but she shoves the thought away. She must find it in her to trust in Lichenstar now.

"Midnightash," the new warrior is dubbed. Iciclefang lifts her chin and begins to chant: "Midnightash! Midnightash!" The ginger-flamed she-cat is bright and devoted; Iciclefang has no doubt she will make an excellent addition to her Clan as a fully-trained warrior.

AN EYE FOR AN EYE, A LEG FOR A LEG. A SHOT IN THE HEART DOESN'T MAKE IT UNBREAK
jFAjt8v.png

࿐ ࿔*:・゚ — Beefang sat in the crowd with her inky pelt pressed against the side of Moonbeam and her nose briefly brushes against her cheek in a brief, subtle show of affection before focusing her single eye onto Lichenstar as they call for everyone's attention. Her tattered ear flicking in an uncaring manner as Boneripple resigns her duty as a warrior to stay amongst the elders and Beefang has to stifle a snort, she would never give up to such an injury had it been her leg instead of her marred face and missing eye. The thought of staying in the elders den at such a young age too, it's upsetting but Beefang doesn't say anything despite the way that she glances over to Moonbeam and her face splits to show her displeasure for a mere second before focusing onto their leader once more. Several of the kittens would be leaving the safety of their mothers sides and becoming apprentices today, her molten gaze attentive on Iciclefang's brood wondering if one of them would become her apprentice.

Neither of them become her apprentice but she isn't upset in the least especially when Cicadaflight gets to mentor one of his former mentor's kittens and she straightens her posture a bit more, her eyes focusing on the other to-be apprentices and finally, she hears her name slip from the mouth of Lichenstar. Roepaw is to be her apprentice and it takes everything for Beefang not to cringe at this news, the red tabby kitten with the ugly and freakish siblings that had another smaller set of ears. She supposes that she's fortunate in receiving him over the other two and he's actually rather normal looking, Beefang casts Moonbeam another glance but says nothing as she closes the distance between herself and the bright scrap of fur. He looks as if he were about to faint if she so much as peeled her lips back to reveal pearly whites but she does not, her lone eye trained on his face for a few heartbeats. You'll have to do. You are not by any means my first choice but this is a start. This is her mound of clay that she would need to mold, knead, and crush with her paws to make a formidable, respectable, and loyal Riverclanner.

Her expression does not change from its usual stoic and angry look so she dips down to press her pink nose against his nose, it would be the most gentle gesture that he'd ever receive from her. "We will start right away. There isn't a moment to waste," Beefang's tone rather blunt as she delivers this news to Roepaw and its truthful, she wouldn't hesitate and push him to the extreme so that Riverclan could have a worthy warrior in the next few moons. Look upon this apprentice, Cicadastar and Smokestar. I'll make him a warrior that you'll be proud of. The curly furred molly sits down next to her apprentice not allowing him to scamper off to reunite with Swiftfire as her feathery tail coils around him like a serpent, she listens as Midnightpaw is made a warrior. Midnightash. Her tattered ear flicks to the side as she remains silent, she couldn't find it in herself to care for someone that enjoyed breaking the code or uttering the name of her fathers on her rancid tongue.

Another passing moon brings another meeting, another time for Riverclan to gather beneath Lichenstars call... Another moon of dour news. Salmon gathers herself up to join her clanmates, blue eyes narrowed as she slips through the crowd to find herself a decent spot. The pointed leader starts off strong with an elder announcement and she finds herself flicking her ear irritably, though she tries her best to pretend its a fly around instead of ire pointed at Boneripple. She keeps her mouth shut for if she speaks, venom will spill from her tongue.

She gives her mane a few calming licks.

The next is apprenticeships and her demeanor lightens a tad, chin tipping up to watch. Iciclefangs kits are apprenticed (Stars, has it already been six moons?) and to good warriors as well, one even being Iciclefang herself and Iciclefangs former apprentice... Then goes Roekit, Snowkit and Graykit, the latter twos name cause her to glance over to Lakemoon to see how shes handling it.

The topics move on fast, and next is Midnightpaws warrior ceremony. Willowroots apprentice, in which the mentor get a dip of her head if she were to look Salmons way. She gets renamed to Midnightash, a name fitting for someone like her... Sal throws her own chants in, "Midnightash! Midnightash!" And as quick as the meeting started, Lichenstar flicks their tail in dismissal and she is off once more to go find her apprentice for a training session.
