The sun is setting but tonight Pinata would not retire to her twolegs den, no, she had checked on her earlier and she had seemed absolutely exhausted. She was sure that her twoleg would sleep all night once more but she'll return in the early morning like she always does during these times. But now, since shes staying here, she had to figure out a way to keep busy and whats better than telling some stories from her youth?
She settles down upon the snowy ground, glad for her long fur that kept her decently warm before a soft purr breaks her silence. She kneads the ground as she beckons a few NPC apprentices forth for a story. She'll also beckon a few other warriors returning from training forth as well, waving her tail before she begins to speak. "Okay! What kind of story do you guys wanna hear today?" she loves telling about her past for it keeps her memory sharp, does not allow fading for the memories she holds dearest. "I can tell you allll about the fox I fought once, or I can tell you guys a story of love, or I could tell you guys allll about the cat in the moon!" the last one was more fantastical story-like, spun off her own daughter Moon. Eagerly she awaits for those present to speak up on what they want.
maeve settled down amongst the small group that Piñataflurry was forming, placing her paws over her bushy tail to keep them off the cold ground. she's never seen snow, or been out in cold weather like this for that matter, but her fur seemed built for these temperatures. while she was still wary of the skyclanners, she came to the conclusion that they meant no harm; they were a friendly bunch right from the get-go. so she didn't shy away from the opportunity to hear a story. tonight seemed like a nice night for it, after all.
after piñata listed her options, maeve thought for a moment, before sheepishly speaking, "i like love stories..". she had never been in love herself; the father to her kits was a cat she barely remembered the name of. love was something she longed to find one day, a dream to start a family with a tom or molly that loved her for her. so, safe to say she was a sucker for love stories.
"wait for me!" the girl called out excitedly, racing over to join the group. usually, she preferred to stay in the nursery as the sun disappeared, she didn't want her ears freezing off, but how could she pass up on a story?
upon arriving, eveningkit looked around to see who else had gathered. blue eyes settled on the queen that had recently joined her family in the den. she didn't know the queen too well yet, but if deersong let her take refuge she had to be good. "I like love stories too!" she would echo the older cat, eyes bright as she looked at pinataflurry. the tortie would then walk over to maeve with a warm smile, if only it were enough to keep the kitten from chattering teeth. good thing the ragdoll had lots of fluffy fur, maybe she wouldn't mind sharing?
"can i lay next to you? it's reallllly cold but i reallllly wanna hear the story," eve chirped, a small shiver racking her body.
Lazy emerald eyes forced themselves awake at the commotion concentrated outside the elders’ den. Soil normally wouldn’t be caught dead taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon like this, but leaf-bare had a way of making everything worse. Joints worn out from a lifetime’s use had been screaming on account of the cold, and the irritation had worn away at the stubborn old man until he’d relented and tried to sleep it off. It hadn’t helped, obviously, and now the moggy needed something new to distract from the icicles poking at his insides. What better than conversation?
Bounding out of bed with a regretful wince, the oaken-hued tomcat pushed his way outside and towards the gathered group. A grateful huff left him as he parsed together what was going on. Usually the experienced elder was the one telling the stories, and as much as he loved doing so, it would be nice to be in the audience for a change.
A small frown formed on graying features as the elder took in the story subject everyone seemed most interested in: love. For as long as he could remember, Soil paid no mind to the concept. He never had a desire for kits or a mate, and in the old man’s mind the whole idea just seemed a bit boring. A fight with a fox or a feline living on the moon sounded much more interesting, but it looked like he was outnumbered. He wouldn’t protest, though, seeing how excited Eveningkit was for the tale. A little story about a subject he wasn’t interested in wouldn’t kill him, after all.
Sitting down with an appreciative groan thanks to relieved muscles, a smile would plaster itself on graying features for the gathered cats. “Can’t say I’ll be too terribly invested, but time spent with friends is never a waste.”
[ ☾ ] That night he had yet to return to his human home and had instead stuck around a bit to help with some last-minute patching of dens or one last hunting patrol. The patching of the dens went well better than the hunting patrol that came up empty pawed. A blue tabby had been finshing up shovering some brambles into a hole when he heard his mothers voice from across camp. She had gathered a few apprentices together and was offering up stories, and he couldn't help but smile a little bit.
The large cat then moved from the den to head over to his mother and her gathered group of cats consisting of Maeve, Soil and another cat he couldn't quite remember the name of. He was still trying to learn who was who even though it had been a couple of months since his joining. The fluffy maine coon mix swished his feathery tail back and forth with a smile, "I agree, you should tell us a story about love. Maybe then the one of the cat in the moon," He offered up to his mother as he settled down across from her.
"What is a moon? What's a fox?" The small kit had been listen for a small while now. Everyone had smells he did not recognize so he is not keen on speaking up with a group of strangers. Really his hope is that someone he does recognize will come over but it doesn't appear that that will happen. So he finally swallows his small fears and decides to speak up. The little white stained child makes his way closer to the forming group and he wants to know what all of this stuff is. Sightless eyes roam around for a moment before they settle off to the side and he sits down. Tucking his legs underneath himself he is ever eager to hear about what these things are. He has never seen what a moon or fox is but he hears things about them.
Especially about stars and how they are above him. But how are they up there?
soft blue eyes blinked down at the kitten that found her place next to her. the poor thing was probably freezing out here. maeve's heart swelled as the kitten scooted closer and asked for warmth. with a small smile, the ragdoll unfurled her tail and brought the kitten closer, covering eveningkit with her tail like a blanket. "better?" she inquired with a small purr deep in her throat. she glanced briefly over to the other kit that sat out by his lonesome. what's a moon? can't you see it? she thought curiously, before quickly realizing the truth of it. vulturekit must be blind. "would you like to sit with eveningkit and i? i don't want you getting cold," she called out to vulturekit, preparing to get up and move if he couldn't find her.
