Silverstripe

Guest
( ) A breathy sigh of relief left Silverstripe as she settled into the warmth of Sunningrocks. This had to be one of her favorite spots in all the territory. Not that was at all an uncommon opinion, but she was fond of it for more reasons than its warmth. The feeling of the sun on her pelt as she curled up on the rock was nice, sure, but it wasn't the reason she came.

No, she came to Sunningrocks because everyone else did. With all her clanmates coming here to relax, this was the perfect place to be if she was looking for a conversation. So, after a moment to get herself settled, the molly cast a glance about. She searched the cats around her for one that looked awake enough to hold a conversation. Eventually, her mismatched eyes settled upon one.

"So," she began cheerfully, "How are you today?"

the fluffy molly was sprawled out on the sunny rocks, cream colored belly facing the sun. blue eyes were squinted yet alert as she gazed at clouds floating by lazily. honeypaw truly enjoyed coming here to relax, chat, or even watch the clouds as she was doing today. there was a comfort in the calmness of it all, but the tabby itched for conversation deep down.

she rolled over onto her side and stretched, her plush tail arching over her head. honey was about ready to return to camp, the heat from the sun only offered so much warmth and she was beginning to get colder the longer she spent out in the open. as the silver warrior addressed her, there was a polite smile on the apprentice's face. she couldn't recall speaking to silverstripe much, if ever, but maybe now was a good time to get to know the older molly.

"i'm good!" honeypaw said brightly with a grin. "i wish it were a little warmer though. it's cold even in the sun." she lightheartedly complained, sitting and wrapping her tail around her. even with her dense coat as protection, she was not a fan of the frosty weather that seemed to get worse with every day.

[ ONE HAZY PANOPLY ]

Ever since she had first discovered the sunningrocks, they had become a favourite place of hers. It was a shame her accident in the river had made it difficult for her to get across to them due to her reluctance to so much as put a paw in the water. Now that she was slowly starting to recover, it was nice to spend some time here again, even if the weather was a bit cooler compared to the last time she had been here.

"You should visit again in greenleaf," Lilybloom suggested, turning to Honeypaw. She had to squint her eyes a little to avoid glare from the sun beyond. "It really is lovely to stretch out on the sun-warmed stones." Her green eyes then shifted to Silverstripe. "I am well, Silverstripe," She answered smoothly. "How are you faring on this day?"

Iciclepaw walks behind her sister with small, measured steps. Sunningrocks in late leaf-fall is admittedly not very exciting. She shakes the river water from her fur and places a dainty paw against the surface of the stone Honeypaw is lying across. It's warm from the sun, but just barely, and it's not enough to keep the chill from sinking into her bones. "These will get cold in leaf-bare, won't they?" She sighs, despondent. "Leaf-bare seems like it will be such a drag." She already hates the way the wind has bite to it, and dreads what she's heard around camp -- that the prey will become scarcer, that the water could become ice.

( ) Minnowpaw had never been one for crowded places. No, that pleasure was something gifted to her sister and her confident air. So normally the pretty she-cat would not be seen in a place such as Sunningrocks unless she was with her sister or her mentor, or if she could safely assume that the area would be empty so she could work on her weaving.

Making her way towards the sun-warmed stones, a bundle of reeds in her jaws, the introverted apprentice had thought that today would be one of those days, but as she pushed her way into the space she would freeze.

There were cats here. And ones she almost never spoke to at that. Her ears flattened against her skull as she contemplated backing up and slipping into the undergrowth undetected, but then she paused. Dogteeth had been telling her to try to be more social, to give others a chance before assuming that they wouldn't find her interesting.

Taking a deep breath, the apprentice would continue forward, ears still flat in a sheepish display before she settled onto one of the warmed rocks a few tail-lengths away from the others, "H-Hello everyone..." Her voice is barely above a whisper as she lightly pets the reeds she had brought with her, "Nice...um...day today, isn't it?"

( BUT I WATCH YOUR EYES AS SHE; WALKS BY )

At her sisters dejected sigh, Lilybloom have her sister a warm look. "Oh for sure," She responded in regards to her comment about the stones. "Still, there might be good prey hiding between the rocks come leafbare, so it might be good coming back here."

The gathered cats are talking among themselves when a shy voice speaks up from behind them. The tortoiseshell turns her head to find who spoke, spotting Minnowpaw standing a short distance away. "Hello," Lilybloom smiled. She lifted her gaze skywards for a moment before looking back at the apprentice. "It is a nice day. Are you having a nice day?"

( ) "Glad to hear it!" Silverstripe intoned, glancing about with a satisfied smile as more of her clanmates joined in on the conversation. This was easily her favorite part of clan life. There was always something happening, even when she was just taking time to relax. Never a dull moment.

Her mismatched eyes turned to Lilybloom as the other molly returned her own question to her. "Why, I'm doing wonderfully, thank you so much for asking." She answered with a serene smile. "The rocks are warm and the company is good, what more could I ask for?"

Honeypaw and Iciclepaw's compaints about the cold caught her attention next. She laughed them off. "All the more reason to enjoy Sunningrocks now, before they lose their warmth altogether." She told them. Their worries about the coming leafbare were warranted, of course, and she wasn't going to pretend otherwise.

Silverstripe settled back into listening idly to the din of conversation as she enjoyed the warmth of the rock beneath her. A soft purr rumbling up from deep within her chest. Amidst all of that, Minnowpaw's soft voice was almost lost before Lilybloom responded to her. "Yes, it is a nice day, isn't it?" she agreed.
