"Is Thunderclan better than Windclan?" While currently unaware of the rising conflict with Windclan, she had heard their name in brief passing from clanmates. The impromptu patrol to visit the borders left her with a pressing question. To the best of her knowledge, they only shared a border with Windclan and Thunderclan. From what the other apprentices and warriors have said before, it sounded like Thunderclan was better. Something called Sunningrocks and the stepping stones were interesting enough to the child, and she found herself more excited to see Thunderclan as opposed to the Windclan bullies.

prompt: eelpaw has begun her journey as an apprentice... that means there's so much to explore. which border is she most excited to visit? & mentor tag: @FOXTAIL

Otterpaw slowly turned his head with a single, confused blink toward Eelpaw. What kind of question was that? The obvious answer was that RiverClan would be above any other Clan. ThunderClan and WindClan especially, but the molly hadn't given her own home an option at all! Missing her meaning behind her inquiry, Otterpaw opted to answer confidently.

"If RiverClan got exploded by StarClan or something, I'd go to ThunderClan. They got Sunningrocks and they're only on the other side of the river. Is it really that much of a difference then?"

exploded by starclan, she thinks. that's a silly idea. starclan doesn't do that. teaselpaw peers up at the sky, clouded over as it is in deep winter, as though suspicious. she's certainly never heard of starclan doing that. she'll have to ask her mother later. (she forgets that she can't actually do that anymore, and the thought's gone quick as it came.)

for her part, teaselpaw is also a new apprentice, still getting used to the new adventures and responsibilities of each day - and still excited by them. she's been on a couple of border patrols by now, though, so she has an answer.

thinking otterpaw's take on the question is a little odd, she'll simply reply, "yes. windclan is the worst. thunderclan is not as bad."

it's a close thing though.

she'll perch near eelpaw, offering a smile. "have you not met any of them yet? they smell terrible, and they're... um... mongrels," she relays, to use a word she's overheard from warriors' talk, her tone perfectly factual. "but there's the river between us and them, don't worry." she's never really been frightened on a border patrol... only a little disdainful, and her cold paws are aching for home by the time they're half done.

as any seven-year-old girl you know, teaselpaw is still learning what it means to be teaselpaw! she's excited about her new apprenticeship, a bit jumpy, and still firmly attached to the worldviews of her parents, not yet daring to question their axioms. she's a motherly child, having been tasked with watching over her brothers from a young age; she is fond of the kits in the nursery and of "playing house" by herself, even as she grows steadily older. generally, she keeps her deeper feelings to herself.
