it's a very foggy day when slugkit peeks her head from the nursery — the first thing that leaves her maw is a groan. "MOMMYYYY, the sun is all gone again! bwing it back!" she whined, giving the rest of the clan the announcement: slugkit was awake a good two hours after she needed to be awake, as per usual, and ready to make everyone's day with her presence. as the little one padded out from the nursery, she shook dew out from her paws, making fake little gagging noises as they stuck to her very fluffy coat. she grumbled and grumbled, icked and ucked, before finally scrambling onto a rock where she would be free of the icky wet grass.

can someone bwing me a snack?” the three moon old requested, trying to lick her paw fur back into it’s very fluffy, messy place. she worked so hard to get her just crawled out of the nest look.. by crawling out of her next, of course, but that was hard work. the girl let out another sleepy groan and then a yawn. “it’s sooooo chilly today!

ooc ; i’m still setting this girl up but figured a nice short intro thread would be good :3

I MET A GIRL WHO SANG THE BLUES — Unlike certain others that saw it as nothing more than a prison, Eggskip had actually been enjoying her time in the nursery. It was mostly quiet and peaceful, free of the bickering that had been plaguing Shadowclan not all that long ago. Knowing that her kits would be in there with her even longer had been a blessing rather than a curse - and she was endlessly glad Slugkit and her siblings hadn't ended up as the last round of apprentices made at four moons. Though it remained to be seen if the other queens such as Needledrift felt the same way.

Her kit's voice reached her before anything else as she blinked grogginess from her gaze and glanced around her nest, unsurprised to see that there were only two tiny bodies still curled up next to her. Slugkit had the uncanny ability to wake up before the rest, coaxing Eggskip out from her nest and the peace of the nursery. "Th'sun still won't be back for a bit, lil crawler. It's still a few more days until leafbare's officially over... I think." She'd never been the best at remembering when the seasons changed, moons seeming to pass her by without much fuss. The queen had really only started keeping track of them because of her kits - the most rambunctious of whom she had already started to fuss over. She licked lightly at the top of Slugkit's head, trying to flatten out her unruly tufts of fur into something manageable in spite of any protests.

Being awoken early by kittens was not a new experience for Ferndance, but, being awoken by a cry from the other side of camp certainly was. The groggy she-cat appeared on instinct, stretching each limb as she drifted closer, ridding them of the knots brought by sleep. Eggskip was already tending to her daughter, and for a time, the former Lead Warrior disappeared into the shadows that grabbed the camp like twoleg paws. When she returned into the 'light' (or, the most light that a ShadowClanner could see before dawn), a frog dangled from the cinnamon tabby's maw, two long legs poking out the front of her mouth. She brought it closer to the kit before dropping the catch unceremoniously on the ground, the being thankfully too dead to care about the rough landing. Ferndance stared at the catch, stared at the kitten, and eventually, nudged the frog to the same rock that Slugkit had taken hostage. Remnants of sleep crusted at the corner of Fern's eyes, all sorts of oddities both natural and human-made clung to her fur like burrs, with a path of them from the warrior's den suggesting she hadn't bothered to groom herself before attending to the clan's needs.

Ferndance nodded towards Eggskip, a queen she had shared the Nursery with for some time, and fell back on her haunches. "This one wasn't on the fresh-kill pile for long..." she breathed as she spoke, her tail idle behind her. "I think Smogmaw's drool is still on it," A mischievous smile appeared on her muzzle as she shimmied her jaws dramatically, making a face as if she'd chewed a wasp. A soil-flecked paw was raised to her tongue, brushing it against the appendage. Just as soon as she began the gesture, it ended abruptly, the she-cat's expression falling into a pleasant neutrality. "I'm just kidding." Any misgivings that Ferndance may have had about slobber and drool had ended when she'd met Needledrift, now, it just seemed like another thing to make others wince at, without feeling any discomfort herself. "When your mama's finished... you can eat it if you'd like."
