He always dreamed of being a great warrior. But he had always also thought of being able to have a family. Someone that cares about him as much as he cared about himself. But he only had himself. And as others around him died, he kept losing himself. His determination. His will. But he would persevere. He had to.
As Sootstar called him to join in on the journey, that set a fire in him that would relight that determination. He was scared of her, and Weaselclaw, but, maybe, maybe they did see the potential in him. Maybe after the nursery, he did prove himself, and just didn't realize it.
"Uh... Sootstar?" he called into her den, anxiety riddling his stomach. He didn't used to have such a thing, but the moons have changed him, and never before had he stood before her den. He did try to sit straight up, tried to look respectful as he waited for her to approach or call him in, whatever would happen.
