”Wook mama!” Budkit announces with exuberance as sapphire blues stare up at treetop laden sky. Perhaps there was nothing of great significance to an adult, but to a young kit the sky beheld many treasures. Cottony clouds drifting lazily by. The outlines of soaring birds traveling from treetop to treetop. Breeze swept leaves slowly making their descent far from the branch they once grew from.
The sky was a whole new world to the little seal point - a world she was happy to share with Butterlytuft.
Budkit ooh’d and ahh’d as she wandered only a few pawsteps from the tortoiseshell queen, making sure to glance back and ensure she wasn’t drifting too far. “What’s dis, mama? What’s dat, mama?” Budkit asks in rapid succession, focusing her gaze on a particularly puffy cloud first before becoming distracted by a fat robin perched upon a nearby branch.
In her observance of the red breasted bird she does not notice the fluttering of delicate wings. A creature once a diminutive caterpillar now transformed into a colorful creation. Kindred spirits the two must be, a once white newborn transformed into darkened points and cream hues.
The butterfly drifts close to Budkit and alights upon the child’s nose. Her kinked tail raises in surprise though Budkit freezes in place. “Mama…” she whispers, awed by the colorful piece of the sky now resting on her muzzle. “Mama wook,” look at this.
What a beautiful world she gets to share with her mother.
