Whoever comes to find Ghostpaw after her outburst will be disappointed. Her nest in the apprentice's den is cold and empty, undisturbed by a living body. Her scent trails out of camp a ways and then goes dead and stale, smothered by the stink of swamp-muck and wild garlic. The sucking mud of the marsh has devoured any remaining pawsteps as it has taken the bodies of her father's victims. There is no trace left behind, scarcely a tuft of white fur or a small pawstep.

She is nothing if not fastidious.

Her reaction to Granitepelt's supposed betrayal had been carefully calibrated horror and misery. She is much more sympathetic to his ideas within herself; sure, he is insane—there is no doubt about that. He had been sloppy; he had not been careful, as she has been. As she will be. But he had been fundamentally correct that ShadowClan is rotting, slowly but surely. There is nothing left for her here but a bad reputation and a dying future.

And so, she's gone.

Bonerattle cared not for the drama of the aftermath of Granitepelt's betrayal to ShadowClan. What was done was done and although there was still healing to do - evident in, well, everything around them currently - what mattered now was that they were still there. ShadowClan was still together as a clan and they were going to overcome this obstacle, not because they had to but because they simply could. He fully believed that so long as they put their mind to it then all of ShadowClan could move past this out of sheer will alone, and so the young warrior tried his best to go through the day as if nothing had happened.

For them, it included waiting in camp for assignments to be passed out, for apprentices to wake up and greet their mentors or to see if there was something they had to do - whether they liked it or not. And as they watched and waited there was a small feeling that tugged in the back of the tabby's head and so quietly the feline moved forward to the entrance to the apprentices den and peered in to find one missing and a small frown formed on his face before quietly moving around to catch whatever scent he could. Quietly he slipped from camp only to come to a stop too many steps short of leading anywhere, frown quickly turning to scowl as they turned around and head back.

Quickly he searched for @STARLINGHEART knowing this news should try to be shared with her first if possible. If he had run off when younger Bonerattle would have wanted his own mother to be informed first, mentor second, and with the recent revelations within the clan it seemed the only options here were the apprentice's mother and Chilledstar themself and at the moment they didn't want to bother the leader. "Ghostpaw isn't in her nest and I can't follow her scent outside camp." He'd quickly inform the medicine cat the second he found her. Maybe it was simply that Ghostpaw had been given some sort of task that caused her scent to go away, a test to see how good she was able to hide but that seemed unlikely. No matter how unlikely it was he still wanted to make sure it was that before jumping to the conclusion that she was simply missing.

TO BE NORMAL IN A WAY I COULDN'T BE — They will still processing everything in their mind that Granitepelt had been a murderer and had killed Pitchstar along with other cats, a traitor had been under their noses for a whole year yet no one had known not even their sister that slept so soundly next to that foxheart and had reared a litter of three kittens including their own apprentice. The way that their jaw clenched the entire time unable to ease it not with everything that they knew now and the fact that the damned tom had narrowly escaped is enough to frustrate Nightswarm, they were shocked yet seething underneath their skin as they debate to themselves if they should seek out Starlingheart and assure that she's alright though... They imagine she isn't especially when her mate had been exposed to the entire clan and herself of his sin.

Fiery eyes lift when the voice of Bonerattle breaks his train of thought and he finds himself frowning at the other warrior before immediately pushing himself to his paws to the words that tumble out of their jaws. Ghostpaw was missing. His throat tightens trying not to think about what could've happened to his niece, ears pressed against his skull, and makes his way over to where Bonerattle had found his sister. He couldn't imagine the brief and devastation she felt now... But with the added weight of her daughter missing, it would destroy her. "We'll find her," Or try to. Nightswarm mutters quietly pressing his body into Starlingheart to give her support and to let her know that he's there for her, he will always be.

Had this been her fault next? Lilacfur would begin to think as she returned from a later-than-usual patrol to check in on Ghostpaw one last time. Watching her flee from Granitepelt's revelation as a serial killer had made her hesitant to immediately approach in the same way she felt with Flintpaw and Nettlepaw. She wanted them to have their space if they demanded such and it didn't feel right dragging her apprentice out of her nest so soon after such an ordeal.

Her tail swept over the back of her ankles as she took a moment to breathe and set her paws for the apprentices den when her path was cut short. An ear twitched at the faint muffle of Bonerattle's voice. Ghostpaw isn't in her nest... She refused to believe it so quickly, Ghostpaw had to be somewhere. Nightswarm reassured it, they would find her, they must.

"Let's check with every patrol lead, make sure no one pulled her out while I was gone. Ask... ask the elders if they've seen her at all." Lilacfur felt dizzy as she turned her head away, trying to rattle her head for any thought as to where she could have gone.

Her son is the first to notice the first of the Granitepelt offspring gone. Her ears twitched, vision distracted from her menial task when Bonerattle steps towards the apprentice's den. When he emerges, his vision is pressed- and slipped out of camp, and back in a few minutes later. Scalejaw watches as he crossed camp and stepped into Starlingheart's personal space.

She swallowed gently as the news was uttered towards Starlingheart- Nightswarm caught ear of it. Her ears twitched. Lilacfur was the next to speak, and Scalejaw pushed to her paws. Nausea was gently starting in the pit of her stomach- if Ghostpaw was gone, was Flintpaw not far behind? She inhaled quietly, then spoke with a low tone, one that was filled with apprehension. "I'll check with the elders." She said, moving away like a shadow in ink to speak to the elders. And when she did, they shook their heads slowly, for they did not know.

No one would.

Her family is in shambles. She knows that Granitepelts exile was not just something that had affected just her, that her children had been caught in the crossfire as well, maybe even more so than her. He was her mate but he was their father, someone they would be judged against for the rest of their lives. Faulted only because it is his blood that runs through their veins. She cannot fault them for being upset, for being angry.

She herself has spent all her energy on mourning. She sits in the entrance of her den, staring out at the camp with glassy eyes and trying to retreat into the safety of happier memories. Her kits saying their first words, watching them tumble about in the medicine cats den together. She is interrupted from these thoughts with a jolt, someone approaching her. She looks up at Bonerattle, mouth already parting to ask him whats wrong but before she can say anything he speaks. Ghostpaw is missing he says. "Wha-what?" she says with a slight croak to her voice, her throat hoarse with the tears she has shed. She scrambles to her feet and immediately her first thought is to scour every inch of the camp, and then the forest.

Her big brothers presence is a comfort, one that is more than welcome and she leans into his embrace, feeling unsteady and tired on her feet. She is thankful for him, for her sister, who both pipe up to give words of encouragement, Lilacfur and Scalejaw propose ways they can help search for her and she nods her head in their direction, grateful. "Thank you" she says, her words quiet. "If-if shes not in the camp and if-if no one has seen her we- I- I'll go into the forest to-to look for her" hopefully she had just gone for a walk, had just needed some alone time to process her grief.
