"Keep your stance balanced. Stop bouncing around, Spiritpaw!" Hyacinthbreath quips up as her back leg kicks out her apprentice's own, aiming to make her tumble to the ground, out of balance. Hyacinth finds amusement in her apprentice's determination, her eagerness to train despite Hyacinth's strictness. Coldsnap was quick to catch on, his attitude was merely the only issue back then- Spiritpaw was much more eager to learn. Once Spiritpaw fixes her fighting position, Hyacinthbreath nudges her side with her paw again- trying to make sure she was strong and still.

"Very good, very good." She hummed softly, pointing towards the pile of snow she had created on the ground. Clearing her throat, something lodged there- she grins at her apprentice. "The enemy is bigger than you. What can you do to turn the tides? Think quick!"

She thoroughly enjoys training with Hyacinth and maybe thats why shes so bouncy and happy today, barely able to contain it and bouncing all over the place. Shes barely paying attention before Hyacinth kicks out her legs and she tumbles straight to the ground, slightly winded before she erupts in giggles, scrambling upright once more. She prepares herself as Hya comes closer but she only nudges her, making her slightly wobble but stand tall regardless.

She compliments her and a purr comes from her before Hya asks another question, how to turn the tides with a bigger enemy. Shit! She didn't know! Completely disregarding Hyacinth's hint, she thinks for just a second. "Throw sand at them! Play dirty!" she chirps with wide eyes, though theres a voice inside that groans at how childish she sounded. No, she wants to be a real warrior! "Throw... Snow... At them?" she tries again, sheepishly.

IM SCARED TO GET CLOSE AND I HATE BEING ALONE
I LONG FOR THE FEELING TO NOT FEEL AT ALL
THE HIGHER I GET, THE LOWER I SINK
I CAN'T DROWN MY DEMONS, THEY KNOW HOW TO SWIM

Coldsnap had not been an easy apprentice.

He'd already been half grown when he was assigned to Hyacinth, a youth that was as solitary and independant as they came. No family. No friends. And Bitter as hell. Coldsnap had come to Windclan without anyone or anything, and he'd gone out of his way a lot back then to keep a healthy distance from his clanmates, convinced he knew better. Sometimes, he still thought he did. And so, suddenly being apprenticed to a shecat who was just as stubborn and tempermental as he was had certainly caused some setbacks. He'd been standoffish and defiant, arrogant in his way of thinking, but somewhere along the line and and Hyacinth had managed to make things work.

"The enemy is bigger than you, what can you do to turn the tides? Think quick!"

The smile that sat in the corner of his mouth was almost impercievable as he caught the words, his mind replaying a memory of his final training session with his old mentor.

"Now. What's the first thing to remember when you're fighting a smaller opponent? You're a big cat in a Clan full of smaller cats. Sparring with one of us is one thing, we won't kill you if given the chance. But other Clans must be taught to fight differently. So you must think out of the box."

He wondered, vaguely, if she prefered the type of apprentice Spiritpaw was over what he'd been. It wasn't as bitter a thought as one might expect coming from someone like him, but it was still something he thought about from time to time. There was no doubting that Hyacinth had managed to break barriers with Coldsnap, but not even he was arrogant enough to think that Spiritpaw wasn't special to the molly in some way. They had a bond that was just different from what he and Hyacinth had managed to build.

With a yawn he settled his chin onto his paws, a rare moment of relaxation as the tom lounged in camp listening to his old mentor train her new apprentice.
