just a chance I take to keep on dreaming | patrol assignments

After a few weeks in the medicine den, Flycatcher was glad for the welcome return of giving out daily patrol assignments. After settling into the routine established by Howlingstar, it had been strange for him to stop whilst he recovered. At the very least, Flamewhisker and Nightbird had handles these daily assignments well, and Flycatcher felt comforted in knowing that if anything happened that forced himself and Howlingstar to be incapable of giving these out, they would at least have responsible lead warriors to pick up the slack. As usual, Flycatcher takes his familiar seat in the centre of camp. "Please gather for the daily patrols!" He calls out. He knows he won't be waiting long but Flycatcher curls a tail around his paws, nodding and saying brief 'hellos' as his clanmates gather around.

"Wolfwind, I would like you to lead the dawn patrol along our border with RiverClan and SkyClan today. Take Sunnyday and Badgerstrike with you." This would be Wolfwind's first patrol as a lead warrior he noted. Flycatcher did not doubt that she would handle herself well, having heard how she conducted herself when she was still a warrior.

"I will be accompanying Howlingstar as she leads the dawn patrol along the ShadowClan and WindClan territories. Little Wolf I want you to accompany us." Flycatcher had a few cats in mind who could have accompanied them for this patrol, but on the risk of something potentially going awry if they encountered any WindClan cats, he wanted a more level-headed cat to accompany them. And Little Wolf was perfect for that role.

"Shiningsun, you have proven yourself capable on many hunting and border patrols, now I am giving you a chance to further prove yourself by leading one. You will be leading the dusk patrol along the borders with RiverClan and SkyClan. Please take Sloestride and Roeflame with you. Berryheart you and Lichenpaw are welcome to join them should you need any herbs." Shiningsun was a young cat it was true, but he had proven to be responsible enough in Flycatcher's eyes. Whilst he was certain they would receive little trouble, he was hopeful Sloestride and Roeflame could back him up.

"Rabbitnose I want you to handle the dusk patrol along the border with ShadowClan and WindClan. Take Cloudyfur and Basilwhisker with you. And should you encounter any WindClan patrols, please be mindful of your behaviour."

"Blizzard Fang and Burnstorm, you two are in charge of the hunting patrols today. You may pick which warriors you would like to accompany you at your own discretion."

"Flamewhisker, I am tasking you with hosting a training session today. You may choose which skill to train our clanmates in yourself, I don't doubt you will pick well."

He waited a short moment for his words to sink in before giving a curt nod. "Thank you all for your time, you are dismissed."

WindClan was more than likely not happy with ThunderClan. Her mother had refused them safe passage through ThunderClan's territory. But what was she supposed to say to Sootstar's fox-hearted plan? Yeah come on through, have fun raiding a camp with kits and elders in it? Little Wolf already respected Howlingstar immensely but after this, she only found that respect growing. She was a good cat, with a good heart and Little Wolf can only hope that she inherited even half of their leaders bravery from her.

She listens as Flycatcher rattles off patrols, tail curled around her shaded paws and eyes on that familiar gray pelt. "I will be accompanying Howlingstar as she leads the dawn patrol along the ShadowClan and WindClan territories. Little Wolf I want you to accompany us." she dips her head in a respectful nod of understanding "I'll be ready to go before you can even say 'mouse'" she says, humor lacing her tone and making an appearance in those vibrant green eyes as she waits for the rest of the patrols to finish and her own to set out.

Her son, in charge of a hunting patrol! She looks out at him from the corner of her eye and sends an encouraging smile his way, pride and love evident in her gaze.

Stormywing lingers nearby, ears pricked and tail twitching eagerly. Normally she would be in her nest, sleeping in, but today she has an inexplicable energy about her. She’s pleased to hear her uncle hasn’t placed her on a dawn patrol at least, but when her name never leaves his mouth she visibly deflates. No patrol for her?

I’ll just have to go hunting on my own then! She decides suddenly, standing up straighter. A look of determination enters her eye and she makes a move to bump her shoulder against her sister’s as she’s called for a border patrol. With a wave of her tail, she trots off to eat breakfast.

Howlingstar pads towards the center of camp, a yawn splitting her jaws. As the sun breaches the horizon, she pricks her ears to listen for which patrol her deputy will put her on. With delight, she finds herself grouped with him along with her daughter. A fine group, and she seeks out @skypaw . with a gleaming gaze. "You may eat once we're done serving our clan," She murmurs to him, an important lesson for every ThunderClan warrior-to-be. Work first, food after. Flicking her tail, she goes to wait by the camp entrance for Flycatcher to retrieve his own apprentice and for Little Wolf to join them.

Flamewhisker had settled down nearby, keeping her ears perked as she listened for Flycatcher's morning call. She had woken up shortly after him, feeling slightly relieved that she did not have to assign the patrols anymore. It had been exciting of course, but the absence of her mate felt wrong. At his call, she trotted over to hear the daily patrols. She shot him a smile, wondering where she would be assigned today. Silently she prayed that he would not send her to the Windclan border...the last thing she wanted to do was potentially be questioned by Windclanners about how Skyclan found out about the raid. She could keep a straight face...but she would still rather avoid the scenario as long as she could.

A training session. She dipped her head, wondering what she should host. Once she had something in mind, she would pad over to him and say her goodbyes before he set off on his own patrol.

Flycatcher does not choose him to lead a patrol today, but he is not troubled by it. WindClan’s border no doubt needs some diplomatic faces after the stunt they tried to pull this past moon with SkyClan. He watches the leader, deputy, and his elder sister convene with a vague expression of approval. He only hopes they don’t let the fleabitten foxhearts accuse them of anything that isn’t true.

The tabby looks to Blizzard Fang, Burnstorm, and Flamewhisker, his tail wrapping about multicolored paws neatly. “Let me know where you want me,” he says. Training sounds better to him after a half-moon of being laid up in the medicine cat’s den—he wants to ensure his skills remain sharp, after all, and Moonpaw could use the boost before her assessment. Still, he’ll go where he’s needed.

Wolfwind is up, bright - eyed and bushy - tailed. She was not immune to some of her old apprentice habbits— that meaning: sometimes she really doesn't want to get her ass up this early, but it is what it is. She tries to energize herself thinking of the day ahead. Dawn patrol, easy way to wake her up! Maybe RiverClan would try to get one over on 'em, and she could rough 'em up good. Or maybe she'd catch Lakemoon, and her sister would be able to see her leading in action. Don't mess with us, the patrol would say– metaphorically that is.

But— ew, bleck, yuck, pause the hunt, because she wouldn't be at their enemy's border with a fierce, unstoppabble, intimidating ThunderClan patrol, but with Sunnyday. Hardly someone she'd want representing their work force. She can hardly believe the guy has been allowed to stay, and if he's amongst the crowd, Wolfwind would take the opportunity to give him an "Oh. You're still here?" glare. Suddenly, she wishes she were with her family on WindClan's patrol, or her friends on Sky's. What-ever. Whatever! She fixes Flycatcher with an I thought we were friends! look, before resigning to her fate. At least she liked Badgerstrike fine enough.

" Alright alright, m' basically ready to go already, " she grumbles, trying to catch Badgerstrike's (and to a lesser extent, Sunnyday's) eyes.
