JUST ACROSS THE RIVER BEND ❀༉ IVORYDAWN

[Meadowfur]

The river winds lazily through the land, its surface broken only by the occasional ripple where fish dart beneath the water. Meadowfur walks along the ThunderClan side of the border, alabaster paws pressing into damp earth softened by Newleaf rains. The air carries the crisp scent of oak from their own territory, mingling with the rich, muddy aroma of the riverbank. Sunlight glints off the water's surface, bright enough to make her narrow her eyes slightly as she steps over a tangle of exposed roots.

She and Ivorydawn walk in easy silence, their pawsteps falling into an old rhythm. It's been a while since they patrolled together, but it's not unfamiliar. They had once shared a mentor, side by side in their apprentice moons, sparring together, training together, always pushing each other forward. Now, their warrior names sit comfortably on their pelts, their duties heavier than they had been in their youth. But some things never quite fade.

The patrol is meant to be routine—just another stretch of border to check, just another day ensuring the safety of their Clan. But Meadowfur's gaze lingers a little too long across the river. Her pawsteps slow, ears twitching as if listening for something beyond the steady rush of the current. There's no RiverClan patrol in sight, no signs of movement on the opposite shore. But still, her sharp green eyes scan the far bank, searching, though she's not certain for what. She stares for just a heartbeat too long, her expression unreadable, before she blinks and looks away. A small shake of her head, as if dispelling a stray thought, and then she moves forward again, her tail flicking behind her. She doesn't offer an explanation, doesn't acknowledge the pause. But if Ivorydawn has been paying attention, she's sure to notice.
