So much had happened since Merlinpaw had been apprenticed to Flamestar, so much so that even thinking about it made the young molly's head turn, as though she were trapped on an ever-moving spindle. It felt like just yesterday that the tyrant of the skies had risen and fallen in the same breaths, with the purling ripples of the dying beast's breath sending waves even in the present day. Since then, Merlinpaw felt as if a tripwire had been placed just beyond her paws, and the taut tension between her clan and herself had been drawn neatly for her. At least Flamestar had been a beacon agleam in the midst of chaos, though Merlin couldn't help but feel like she were to disappoint her, too. In the quietude of the morning, the blue tortoiseshell sepia flitted through the twisting knolls of her birthplace that capped at her head and shoulders, vertiginous in the manner that it willed for her to trip at every turn and angle. Unlike the dull goldens and blues of her own coat, her mentor's coat cut through the miasma, and thus she followed the brighter-colored of the two. She hadn't much of a clue what they would be doing together so early in the morning, and the molly suppressed a yawn that bubbled at her throat, pushing the impulse down like she swallowed a bout of bile. "Um... Uh, are we - we hunting...?" The whispery voice of the young apprentice sounded through the pooling fog of the dawn, like verticles of wind that floated above the fog, only to flutter downwards to the colder earth. I'm not good at hunting. Especially in this fog! At least Flamestar can't see if I totally embarass myself.
