Tumbleknot grumpily stood from his nest, shaking out his curled fur and moved to leave the den. He didn't mind starting his day so early if it gave him a reputation as a hard worker within Windclan. He didn't like the mornings, though. If he wanted anything, it was to wake late and go on evening or night hunts. But becoming a morning bird... he was sure to get the worm eventually. He had to prove himself to retain any standing within the clan's ranks and prove himself capable to their leader. To do that.. he definitely needed to bring in a catch today.

His head would raise as he exited the den, scanning the camp for a few warriors who seemed up and ready to go or verging on it. It wasn't long before his gaze landed on Sunstride and Heatherpaw-- not exactly two warriors but whatever it worked for the small hunting patrol he was intending to perform. "Hey! Sunstride and uh- Hea-thhhherrrrpaw...?" He couldn't quite remember the toms name, but he knew it ended in the apprentice suffix of -paw so it wasn't very hard to inference. "Wanna head out on a hunting patrol with me? Near the Sun Pool or something?" He glanced at any other warriors in an attempt to invite them too as he sauntered over to the both of them. The warriors candidly avoided his gaze though, and he couldn't help but take it as a sign that he wasn't fitting in as well as he wanted to.

notes: please wait until @SUNSTRIDE and @heatherpaw !! to post at least once before doing so yourself!

Not knowing how to prove oneself before Sootstar is a common dilemma within the clan, he thinks. Though he might say he has done among the best in the clan, being within her council, he cannot pretend that his place there is without weakness or flaw. He does what he can to defend it, as precariously as Tumbleknot seeks it. Stability from their lives as rogues was difficult to find a promise of. He can say at least that he knows what life outside of WindClan is like, that he knew a good life beyond these borders. Through the cloud of nostalgia and childhood, Sunstride at times misses it. But this is the place that had afforded him advancement and purpose; it had been Sootstar that gave him the name that he wore, and a place to sleep. She had introduced them to StarClan, to a goal beyond himself.

He would repay that trust as best he knows how. Quite like Tumbleknot, that is the reason he's awake so early. Slowly and deliberately stretching beneath the early morning sun, he is lucky to find it a decent enough morning. The winds have not yet picked up to their full extent. They might be able to manage a decent enough hunt for the time being. He looks to the warrior, and then to Heatherpaw. After a low hum of consideration, the burnished tom nods. "Should his mentor agree to it, I think this would be a fine enough way to begin our morning. Will Robinfang be coming along?"

  • SUNSTRIDE. named for his coloration and his bold chasing of fate.
—— cis male, he - him. approx. 40 moons old. lead warrior of windclan + former rogue.
—— gay, but somewhat closeted. will not be open about his interests.  single, will be so.
—— seems comparatively stranger than who he was some moons ago, serious and cool.

sunstride is broad and bold– a creature standing above most of windclan, though not a beast beyond its borders, with fur that flames red and deepens to a burnt amber with every whorl and stripe. his eyes, in comparison, are a pale summer's blue, still as bold as the rest of him.

Robinfang turned at the sound of his name, standing tall as he walked over and nodded to Sunstride. "I would join you, but there’s some things I need to do around camp before I go out. Heatherpaw is more than welcome to help you on your outing, thought." His words are confident and strong in tone, but still respectful as Sunstride was ultimately above him in rank and status.

"If you need anything I’ll be in the medicine cats den for a couple of hours." He turned and padded off without another word.

Appreciation warm in his eyes, Sunstride nods his recognition to Robinfang before turning once more to the others. Though curiosity burns at him, wondering what Robinfang may find to do within the medicine den (was he in need of assistance? did he worry that his clanmates would see weakness in asking for help?), he cannot allow the full strength of it out. Instead he simply glances at him, again and again, gaze torn cyclically until the chocolate feline is well and truly gone. Finally he smiles– between the three of them, it seems promising enough. "It will be good to see how your training is coming along, Heatherpaw. I am curious about the life you must lead." He is unaccustomed to any mentorship but his own, does not know how it might feel. Should there be an opening, he has every intention of begging the apprentice for details.

But for now– "Come," he calls cheerfully, nodding them towards the entrance of camp. "We should set out while the weather is decent."

Tumbleknot smiled at the two, starting for the entrance along with Sunstride and assuming that Heatherpaw was following. He glanced at the other before letting him go first. "How have you been? We've not spoken in a while." He glances at the sky, noting the clouds that were slowly moving across the horizon and towards them. He supposed they should be back in camp by the time high noon comes around, so he quickens his pace.
