private Keep your head down || Vulturesong

@VULTURESONG

[ ༻❄༺ ] He had finally returned to camp when he pulled Vulturesong aside, keeping himself calm and collected when he found a spot for them both to be alone without the presence of another. "You acted like a kit freshly made an apprentice today, Vulturesong" he stated a bit... too bluntly for anyones liking but he wanted to make it obvious to Vulturesong that he didn't like her words or her actions on the patrol that had come face to face with the thunderclan lead warrior and her apprentices. Stubby tail switched a bit before letting a soft sigh slip from his lips, perhaps he should explain his "toad-brained" actions today.

"Do you think with tension already being in the sky, that causing more problems would solve the solution? Or are you unable to swallow the pride you have?" he remarked with a question towards her before flicking his eyes in a different direction before focusing back onto the warrior. He wasn't hear to lecture her, or tell her what she can and cannot do, but he did want her to think on her poorly executed actions today during the patrol. "Keeping ourselves friendly at the border instead of throwing insults or acting like kits will show a level of maturity we have as a clan. Yet you...made us look divided in front of our enemies. They could use that to their advantage now, think about it" he explained.

Those were the last words he said, keeping a silence in the air so that Vulturesong could think and to speak. There was no anger that longered in his words, he didn't even lash out at the other. He took what she said to thought and even pulled her aside to speak instead of causing a scene. Snowlark wanted to respect his clanmates and their opinions but he also wanted them to understand his decisions, and he wasn't going to punish the she-cat, no that wasn't his job to do, but he will be telling Ternstar of her actions at the border that was for sure.

It had not occurred to her that his intent was to show strength through deceit. She had thought him nothing more than a fool, a pest that need not be within the ranks of Shadowclan's council... But now, she can admit he is not as moronic as he appeared to be. It served him well not to screech at her, unless he desired for her to huff and pad away from him. In that sense, he was wiser than he led on.

She had remained silent, for two reasons. The first, was simply because she found it boorish to interrupt without hearing all that had to be said. The second? This had been expected, after all she had made a fool of him in front of Thunderclan's patrol. Though, she would be lying to say she wasn't curious about how he would act after. Pleasantly she was surprised by his manner of conflict resolution and decided to give him some slack.

And as such, she begins, "We are divided. We constantly bicker and act as kits within the confines of our clan. We have lost many among our ranks whether it's to death or abandonment." She doesn't mention a deserter by name, as there are many who can come to mind. "I will admit, I did not think of the advantage Thunderclan could have now. However, I did not concern myself with that because we could never fool them in that regard. Sure, it could work in the moment, but when we meet in battle it will be obvious that Shadowclan is divided." Her words are not said with rage. No, they are blunt. The honesty of their situation stung, but even Snowlark couldn't deny the fact that their clan was in shambles.

"As for the tension you speak of... I believed telling the truth of the matter to be of more importance. I thought it foolish to play nice knowing we had stolen their territory. If I were in the paws of Thunderclan, I would have viewed the situation as Shadowclan's attempts to rake their claws into our wounds further. It would have been better to ignore the other clan entirely. There is no need to play nice. Frankly, I do not see my truth as a problem Snowlark. However, I see where you are coming from." That much was true. Vulturesong did as she pleased more or less. For better or for worse. The only reason why she was allowed to remain in Shadowclan was the very fact that she did what was required of her. And maybe, just maybe the fact that Shdowclan needed warrior's was helping her in this case. Their dwindling numbers left them open to being easily overtaken by other clans.

A calm silence passes between them. Vulturesong has nothing more to say to the lead warrior. Whether or not they continue this discussion was up to him. She was more than happy to move forward with this and spend the rest of her day in solitude. And if he decided otherwise? Then she hoped he wouldn't ask her boring questions.
