☀ - WHILST MY HEART STILL BEATS
His wounds had healed. No further assaults came from Sootstar's remaining followers. All was peaceful, and there was no further need for him to remain. Where some from the barn had been permitted to stay thanks to their efforts in helping WindClan he knew that the extension did not reach out to him. Suspicion remained, a black cloud left by his past actions, something that would not go away. As much as he wished to dream of spending his final days living in the clan he knew that it could not be. WindClan could not risk ThunderClan's ire, and he could not bear being watched with suspicion every waking moment.
The tom had slipped out before the crack of dawn in order to hunt, and after successfully catching a mouse he returned it to the camp as a final parting gift. It wasn't much, nothing like bringing in a rabbit or a pheasant, but such animals were simply too fast for him out on the open moors. With the prey left for the first cats of the day to find he then took his leave. He raced across the territory in the direction of the barn, the only place he could think to go.
Maybe one day they would cross paths, if any WindClanner paid the horseplace a visit that is. Ultimately he wished them well, and he prayed that Sunstar would serve the clan well as it journeyed free from Sootstar's shadow.
