camp KINDNESS IS BRAVE;; return

The return back from Highstones was bittersweet, a new name gotten and a visit with the stars were something she would remember fondly, but the message that had been received and the news being so negative from the other clans on top of her own would haunt her for the foreseeable future. Weary paws moved across stepping stones to get into camp, too tired to wade through water while talks were on her mind. When she finally part through reeds she'd move forward and sit to rest, glad to be back in the safety of camp in this moment as a tired yawn racked through her body. "I'm back." She'd speak to no one in particular, her own presence here showing that she was, in fact, back from her monthly trip to share tongues with the stars.

She knew others would gather, likely more than usual this time to see if she'd have information about Smokestar, to see if she'd seen him when she'd sleep with the stars and though she wasn't ready to share the news that she in fact did not see him she knew that she'd have to eventually so if anyone were to ask if she'd seen him she'd simply shake her head. No, he had not been seen, but that did not always mean bad things. He could be with Ravensong now, wandering around lost and trying to get home never to return, he could be on his way back now, or he could simply be dead and lost to StarClan, his spirit unable to reach them where he's at. So many potentials and none that she would share, not willing to get the hopes up of those around her or crush those that liked to be more optimistic. "I got a new name," She'd say instead, tail curling around paws as she settled where she was once more, "I'm Moonbeam now... a full medicine cat." She was proud of this, despite the horror that filled her as thoughts of curses and the realization that Ravensong would truly not be coming back stirred within her.

She'd answer questions if they were to come up to the best of her ability, though in the back of her mind she thought of the warning from Snowflakekit; beware the darkness a forgotten enemy brings. Eyes would seek out Lichentail whenever she had the chance, trying to figure out if this cryptic message was something that should be shared with the other, the current one in charge of the clan unless Smokestar came back or was found. She didn't know what it could mean, what importance it held to those outside of the medicine cats but enemies weren't her wheelhouse, especially those forgotten.

Of course she can't sleep, not as she had tossed and turned in her nest as she waited for Moonpaw to return. Last moon, her and Lichentail had personally escorted her... This moon, she had left by herself. She tries not to worry, truly she does try, but it's eventually useless and she gives up on sleep.

I'm back, Salmonshade recognizes the voice and she pushes herself upwards, gait brisk as she makes her way over.

Moonpaw says she got a new name and Salmon tilts her head, Moonbeam she says. Moonbeam, "Moonbeam." Salmon feels a flash of jealousy. She bites her tongue hard enough to draw blood, trying to forget the fact that the hurt even lingered. "I'm so proud of you. You did so good," she forcibly pushes past the feelings, a softer purr in her voice. "Moonbeam suits you so well..." Moonbeam. It was a nice name. It had a good ring to it and she lets a sharp exhale leave her mouth, ears swiveling backwards.

"Congratulations, Moon... I always knew you could do it." she does not step any further, offering a slow blink as cats begin to pile over.

( ) ravensong's disapearance has left a stain of grief on the camp only multiplied by smokestar's death. riverclan has a new medicine cat and leader in the span of a moon, and neither replacement has quite gotten used to the idea of their formers being gone. to be fair, willowroot hasn't either. entering the medicine den to see pale fur rather than pitch, calling out for a storm hued woman rather than her dark friend... it's all hard to bare. still, the smoke woman has nothing but respect and love for the two she-cats who now take up the mantles as medicine cat and leader.

sitting guard for the midnight portion of the night, willowroot is one of the first to see the pale ghostly shape of their medicine cat return. a soft dip of her head will be her greeting, a smile gracing her maw as she is informed of the new name. "it fits you," she echoes salmonshade's sentiment, a purr in her voice. "congratulations, moonbeam, it's well deserved.

truly it is- the girl has learned more than willowroot can know over her moons as an apprentice. she is a capable and strong feline. as others arrive to congratulate and see the she-cat, the smoke melts into the background, returning to her guard duty with a smile on her face.

This moment was not an exact mirror of the ebony tom that returned to his home. She remembered an exhausted, trembling form beside Snakeblink. Eyes rolled to the very stars that blessed his name and collapsed after murmuring his name- affirming his title as a full medicine cat.

Moonbeam, who proudly gleamed her new name to her Clanmates, is a far lighter reflection to her predecessor. A smile quirked at the corner of a silvery maw, but Hazecloud did not part from the nursery right away. She had love for the molly, as she would for any of her Clanmates, but it was a bittersweet moment. Ravensong had been a brother to her, appearing at his side in the darkest of hours and expecting nothing in return aside from his company. The occasional confirmation she was his favorite molly around. This only confirmed she wouldn't get that anymore, not ever again.

"It's a beautiful name. You'll do your best to honor it well." She's reassured of such, because of all their losses, of all their pain, StarClan would not leave them without a healer.

I HEARD, I HEARD ACROSS THE MOONLIT SEA — Moonpaw had left by herself to the Moonstone which left Beepaw struggling to find any sleep, she tossed and turned rather restless until she decided to lay near the apprentice den. Her ears pressed flat against her helm thinking about how the pale moggy should be at her side this beautiful night not running off with the other medicine cats of the clans. Her mismatched gaze lifts to the sky pondering over Silverpelt along with the cats that rest there and her mind wonders if Smokestar or even Cicadastar are both up there reunited now. She should be happy if that's the case but it only leaves a bitter taste in her mouth since they should be here to watch her become a warrior soon, Smokestar should be finishing her training yet she's left mentorless in his absence. There's a quiet thought at the back of her mind, one that could be considered a sin if it slipped from her jaws. The stars were cursed and those nine lives were damned, the prickly starlit crown would rest atop of Lichentail's helm one of these days.

Her ears twitch when she hears voices speaking and she drops her train of thought, Beepaw rising to her paws to see that her friend had returned. Moonbeam. She hears them all say and she feels as if the breath is knocked out of her lungs, her pawsteps hesitant for a moment or two before she approaches. Why did Ravensong have to choose her Moon to be his predecessor? They'd be warriors together and live for one another until their final breath, Beepaw could still commit to such a thing but the stars... The very same that pushed clouds over the moon during gatherings if there was any disputes and made the skies pitch black. She doesn't fear them by any means but they've taken most of what she's loved. Her fathers and now... Moonbeam.

The name burning her tongue as she struggles to find her voice, Bee locking her mismatched gaze with the honeyed one that belonged to her friend. The bicolored molly makes sure that her hurt doesn't slip into her facial features and instead offers a faint smile, she leans forward to press her forehead against Moonbeam's in a gentle gesture that's rare from the usually stoic apprentice. "Welcome home," She murmurs out quietly wishing to sink into the milky fur of the other and finally relax that she's home, a few words trapped in her throat unable to will them forward. My moon is what she wishes to say but she cannot, the stars have laid their claim on what is most important to her. "It's... A lovely name." Beepaw forces the words out as she agrees with the three other cats present and gently places a paw on top of Moon's where the berry paint stays.

જ➶ Easing up beside her mentor the feline narrows her volatile gaze. Shifting them over the crowd of gathering cats and wondering what has them all in a tussle. She finally gets some answers when she hears the voice of their medicine cat apprentice. Moonpaw is bavk from communing with the stars and she pulls her ears forward sightly as if waiting on baited breath. Wanting to know if Smokestar is up there watching them from the stars. Yet none of that comes and instead the only thing that is voiced is that she has her name and is a full medicine cat. Moonbeam. There is a slight curl of her muzzle, barely even there as she thinks. She wants to know the really important news about their deceased leaders fate. Is he actually dead or not? Honestly she doesn't think that there is anything else she cares about but after a moment she relents.

Instead she opens her eyes wider and she glances to her mentor for a short moment before looking back to Moonbeam. "Congrats." It is spoken lightly and quickly to get it over with. Earning a name is supposed to be quite the achievement so she has that going for her. Smiling just as lightly she turns away and settles back down beside Willowroot, gaze watching.
