This training thing was a whole lot harder than Lavenderpaw was expecting. Her mentor was making her do a lot more than her parents had, that was for certain. But the tortoiseshell molly found herself waking up each day a little stronger, the muscles in her body becoming more defined and she found she had a new direction, a new purpose in life.

It was refreshing, to be rid of the past so easily, like a snake shedding its skin.

But there was one harsh reminder of who she had been that still lingered. Forestpaw. Her sister. Everytime she looked at her, there was a slew of feelings that welled up in her chest, all unexplainable. Guilt, fear, and maybe, deep down, love. But she would never admit it. It had been her job for so long to look after her. Let someone else do it for a change she was tired of it! Their parents weren’t around anymore to tell Lavender that she had to protect her sister, get stronger for her sister, become a better hunter for her, so that she could take care of her. she was tired of everything being about her.

When they walk past each other in camp, Forestpaw actually has the audacity to bump into her. Lavenderpaw can’t quite tell if it’s on accident or on purpose but either way she narrows her eyes as the other she cat. “Watch where you’re going” she hisses, irritably, already not looking forward to the pity party she’s certain Forest is about to throw about how she couldn’t actually see where she was going. “Maybe you should just crawl back home to mom and dad, they’d probably love to have you back so they can just lay prey at your useless feet”

Probably the meanest words that she has ever spoken to her sister and it surprises even her the moment they are out. But it was true, everything that Lavenderpaw ate she had to catch herself, it had been that way for some time now, but Forestpaw would have everything handed to her. Like she wasn’t capable of doing things for herself, like lavender hadn’t seen first paw that she had the ability to learn and just never did. Not knowing that it hadn't been an option for her until now.

Okay, so maybe Forestpaw had meant to bump into her. She likes to push buttons, especially those of her sister. It was only meant to be a light-hearted jab! What she doesn't expect is having a hiss thrown at her, along with stinging words. The stout torbie whirls around, narrowing blind green eyes somewhere in her sister's direction. "What did you say?" She asks incredulously, youthful voice squeaking halfway through the sentence. She grits her teeth - how dare Lavenderpaw say anything of the sort? Forestpaw didn't choose to stay hunkered in that den all day. She didn't choose to never learn how to hunt. She was a prisoner there, while Lavender had all of the freedom. Of course, the apprentice isn't aware of how her oh-so-perfect littermate had all of her parents' expectations piled upon her shoulders. She just sees her as a spoiled brat.

With a hiss, she retorts, "I'll show useless I really am!" She launches herself in the direction of her sister's voice. As kittens, they'd play-fight all the time. Obviously, her lack of sight put her at a severe disadvantage, but her bulky build still allowed her to bowl over her sister if she happened to strike just right. If was the key word. Her fighting is all about luck, whereas Lavenderpaw has training and all five senses on her side. It's obvious who will win in the end, but she won't go down without a fight.

how
dare she? Lavenderpaw cannot believe he audacity Forest has to attack her. Didn’t she know how awful of a decision that was? The tortoiseshell she cat almost could’ve laughed if it didn’t make her so mad. She finds herself letting out a small grunt as she falls to the floor and immediately wished she hadn’t. Thoughts of her father snapping at her, telling her not to show any sign of weakness, race through her head. She expects snapping jaws to find their way to her throat echoed by the words never let your guard down but her sister bats feebly at her. She almost feels bad.

Almost.

“Get off of me, freak!” She screams, not caring who heard, not caring if she was making a scene. She pushes with her front paws, trying hard to push the other tortoiseshell off of her but her sister was heavier than she remembered and really, despite the resentment she felt for her, she didn’t want to hurt her. Her parents always made her go easy on her, and the memories of her mom screaming at her for playing a little too rough makes her wince before she decides to just push through what was her better judgement.

She bares her fangs and attempts to bite down on her sisters leg, if she couldn’t get her to stop crushing her the nice way, the mean way it would have to be.

To be honest, Hailpaw had initially been quite intrigued at the aspect of watching a fight between her clanmates. It was thrilling, watching her clanmates take their anger out on one another (and for the apprentices a chance to practice their battle skills). One thing she felt conflicted upon however, was if this was a fair fight. As far as she knew, wasn’t Forest blind? Why on earth would her sister use that to her advantage? While she couldn’t outright blame her, part of her also knew that she should probably do something about it. Could it be a chance to look good in the eyes of Briarstar and Pitchsun? Her mentor’s as well? Sighing, the female would pull herself to her paws as she walked over to the pair, eyes widening slightly as she caught Lavenderpaw going slightly too far. Aiming to knock on onto her side, Hailpaw would push off her hind legs and attempt to barrel into Forestpaw’s side. If successful, her next move would be aiming to stand between the sisters, blocking them from continuing to harm one another any further. What in the world are you two doing? You two better explain what’s going on and make up before Briarstar finds out about this.” Tail lashing behind her, she would hope that an adult would be along quickly enough to help her deescalate the situation.

Growling and hissing, Forestpaw uses her weight to her advantage, keeping her sister pinned with powerful legs. She had been lucky her blind attack had hit. Lavenderpaw shouts at her to get off, calls her a freak, and the torbie can only hiss out a harsh laugh before teeth sink into her foreleg. "Ouch!" She squeals, rearing up and effectively letting her littermate stand before another cat intervenes. She's still learning voices, but she's pretty sure that it's Hailpaw. "Ha!" She bellows with a smug grin, although she's noticeably lifting her bitten leg slightly. "I was just showing Lavenderpaw who's boss around here!" After a lifetime of being hidden away, it felt good to flaunt her strength.

Hailpaw would frown as she listened to Forest, unsure of what had provoked the attack. While she was sure there was fair reasoning behind it, Hailpaw was unsure of if it was justified, but to be honest? She could care less. If they wanted to fight she wasn’t wasting that much time and effort in stopping them. “What exactly are you two fighting over?” While she didn’t want to run and tattle, if it was something serious she just might consider it. Maybe.

// I’m too lazy to edit my previous post so I’m saying she just aimed to land between them

"Yes, I'd like to know just what you two are fighting about as well.: Her voice is sour sounding, almost disappointed as she steps over to the small group of apprentices. Though she is not her sister she can be just as bad if not worse. Her eyes narrow as she gazes upon the younger felines, molten eyes critical of their movements. She is also checking to make sure neither one is hurt but her gaze is burning all the same. She doesn't have time for ridiculous innerclan feuds, let along those between kits. With a lash of her tail she shakes her head a bit. "I do hope you aren't thinking that I'm going to waste my herbs on your stupidity." Because she won't. They should know better than to try and beat each other up. They need to suffer the consequences of their actions

"Briarstar has already found out." The voice, annoyed, came from the nursery, echoing Hailpaw's concerns that she would find out about the sisters' scrap. The leader poked her head out, having spent some time with her kits. Her eyes narrowed on her apprentice and her sister as Hailpaw and Bonejaw beat her to the scene. She strode over, miffed and bristling. "You two should know better than to bicker like kits," she hissed, her tail lashing behind her. She could not believe these two. She never remembered fighting with Bonejaw like this. Then again, they were not littermates and Briarstar had a significant amount of moons on her younger sister. Regardless, they had always gotten along. She saw no use in fighting kin.

"I expect you to apologize to one another for whatever stupid shit this fight was about. It doesn't have to be now, but at some point. Besides, you'll be working together cleaning out the elders' den all afternoon, so you have plenty of time." Fair punishment for a spat. "I won't be so kind next time. You two are still learning our rules, but we do not use claws on our Clanmates, especially when they are our kin."

Forestpaw doesn't have time to respond to Hailpaw or Bonejaw (she spends most of the time frowning in their general direction). Briarstar arrives swiftly, sounding beyond irritated and the young apprentice's ears flatten against her head in frustration. She hates being told that she's acting like a kit. She has the right to fight for her honor, even if it is from her sister! The leader orders them to apologize and assigns them the grueling chore of cleaning out the elders' den, to which the torbie groans very loudly about. She wants to complain, but she's been around the clan long enough to know that arguing with her mentor doesn't get her very far. All she manages to mutter is, "I didn't use my claws." She lingers there for a moment, pouting, but pivoting on her heels towards the elders' den. She'd better get started so she can nap.

All I know is that Forest started it.” She’d respond simply, unsure of what further information to offer to Bonejaw and Briarstar. While she wanted to know the details of why the pair were going at it, she knew better than to pry for information in front of Briarstar. Shaking her head softly, Hailpaw would glance between the medicinecat and leader, waiting to see how things would progress.
