ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Venomstrike had departed from small meeting Sootstar had held to get recruits for the journey, he decided to distract himself by giving Redpaw a few of the basic lessons and the tabby tom is able to feel at ease yet in the back of his mind, someone takes hold of it and won't leave his head. The thought of them invading his thoughts and overwhelming them causes his leg to begin to stomp anxiously against the ground, almost frustrated in a way but Redpaw's quick to get him focused once more on the task at paw of which he's grateful for. He dismisses his apprentice later that day allowing the energetic tomkit to rest while he goes out to clear that fog that envelopes his brain, Venomstrike kicking away at a few pebbles that are in his way and his gaze survey the moors only to briefly glance in the direction of a few tunnelers doing their usual duties. He's swift to turn the other direction not bothering to search for that one invididual that invades his headspace, someone that he holds so close and dearly despite these odd, difficult feelings.
Rattleheart's going away soon, he's not certain when exactly but you'd expect the moor runner to try and take the time to spend each breath near the smaller feline but Venomstrike finds it difficult to do so. His mind and heart waring against each other, a small desire to be selfish and tell him to stay with him but the other part of him knows that it wouldn't be right to do that. So, he's reasoned with himself to avoid the tunneler, at least, he can get rid of the other from plaguing his every thought and breath. Maybe if he spends time away from him, it'll make it easier for Rattleheart to just leave and he wouldn't care. He would not care. His heart would not ache and feel like it was being squeezed every moment that he moved, breathed, or even spoke... But that would be untrue, a lie. A feeble one too. A part of him wants to shriek at the heavens above and another part of him simply wants to curl into a ball, hope none of this is real and just some horrid nightmare that he'd wake up and everything would be fine.
But even Venomstrike knows he can't live in his own delusion, a soft huff leaving him and he continues about the territory before hearing the sounds of shrieking and struggle, he instinctively lowers himself so the blades of long grass would conceal him even for a heartbeat. He watches as a harrier carries off a young rabbit and that's when Venomstrike spots it, a long feather that the predatory bird had dropped during its scuffle with the long eared rodent. He steps forward after making sure that the bird was long gone and plucks it up with a paw examining it closely within his grasp, his gaze thoughtful for a good moment or two before deciding to take it back to camp. One would think he would give it to his apprentice, Redpaw, but the moment his paws step into camp does the tabby tom start searching once more... Just like he had before during that recruitment meeting. He spots him and approaches slowly, he holds his breath for a heartbeat then presses the harrier feather to the ground before using a large paw to nudge it to him. To Rattleheart.
