I WANT SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS

They didn't get very many 'nice' nights with winter upon them, but all things considered, Dusk found that this one wasn't the worst he'd seen. There was still the familiar chill of the season all around them, the moors covered in a slowly thickening dusting of snow, but the sky was unusually clear above them and the wind practically non-existant. All was still and calm, and for the first time since the weather had turned, Dusk realized he might not hate every aspect of the season. "I can't believe it's this nice out. I was expecting staight snowstorms til Newleaf." the tom chuckled as he took a seat beneath the glittering stars alongside Sootstar.

OOC- feel free to post before @SOOTSTAR ! This is just a chill thread for the rogues and windclanners to better get to know each other and maybe ask some questions about starclan and stuff :D

windclan deputy - male - 22 months - single - tall, strong bengal tomcat

He draws close to the deputy were he lounges, his ears pricked. He'd come to see Sootstar, and he brushes his pelt against her's meaningfully, eyes watchful in the starlit darkness. Weaselclaw prepares to apologize and draw away, thinking what they were discussing maybe a matter for leader and deputy only... but Duskfire only remarks about the evening being pleasant and snow-free.

He relaxes somewhat, though there's still tension in the set of his shoulders and the way he holds his head. "It'll come," he mutters. This will be his first leafbare left to the elements; as a barn cat, he'd always had adequate shelter from the worst of the snowdrifts, and mice driven to the hay bales to eat. He's not looking forward to what leafbare will bring WindClan. "But I suppose we should enjoy ourselves before it does."

"My fuckin' paws are going to fall off at this point.." Hyacinthbreath grumbles to herself as she trudges through the snow-capped grass, sad that the long blades were rotted and no longer as tall anymore. She loves the feeling of grass on her fur, it tickled and scratched where she couldn't reach. Her joints ache as she seats herself a respectful, yet short distance away from the three cats she had once served alongside.

Does it feel nice, to be at the top of the world? Do you feel like Gods, in the light of the stars? She thought to herself bitterly, angry at herself for her decision to step down. But nonetheless, she would retain her pride. She'd done it for a reason. "This is merely the beginning. We will freeze to death soon, maybe." She remarks with a thoughtful hum, letting herself slide down onto the ground to lay with her head on her paws.

Sootstar doesn't think any night with snow chilling her paws could be pleasant, but in comparison to what she faced last year in the marshes... so far this was tolerable. Like the others she was well aware the storm was still brewing, yet to be properly released upon them. Until then they all could at least try to enjoy the moment, "So negative." she tells her warriors in monotone. With Hyacinithbreath specifically she only briefly meets the others gaze before turning away, she isn't too mad anymore but the bitter feeling of betrayal still lingers.

She looks up into the sky, stars reflectin her emerald gaze. "We should give thanks to StarClan for gracing us with a so far easy leaf bare. We mustn't be ungrateful for their blessings." It is rude.

I won't apologize for being who I am
Out of all the seasons he has experienced leaf bare was definitely not his favorite. If this was merely the beginning of what was to come then he was sure it never would be. The boy's longish pelt bristled and fluffed against the lingering cold as he turned his equally frozen stare skyward. If there was anything to be appreciated about windclan, he would go out on an limb to mention the beauty of the stars. Although his heart longed for skyclan even he knew that this sort of atmosphere could not be found within the forest of pines. A single ear twitched in response to Sootstar's words, stifling a scoff that nearly fell from his lips.

Starclan and their blessings. He was doubtful they were capable of such a thing, especially after their failed attempt to restore his mother. Leopardcloud still had so much she'd yet to experience and starclan took her from him. Yet the curiosity was killing him inside and so he broke contact with whom he believed to to Leopardcloud's star to look over at the blue smoke molly. "You actually believe that? Have you ever thought that it just might be luck?" There was no conviction in his voice as he spoke what some might have interpreted as blasphemy. With a shake of his head Coyote tucks his paws further underneath himself. "I don't think they're nearly as powerful as they make themselves seem." Nowhere near it.
Tryna throw shade on me say a lot 'bout you

this is sootpaw's first experience with leaf-bare, and honestly? he hates it. the cold is nigh unbearable, even for his thick coat. it cuts into him, stings his skin and leaves his extremities feeling frostbitten. not to mention the sniffles he seems to have come down with recently. he has no prior life experiences to go off of, but if he has to guess, he would say that the lack of foliage acting as a shield against the bitter winds leads to the moors being cold as fuck compared to the other territories.

sootpaw supposed that windclan must sacrifice certain things, such as a tolerable leaf-bare, for their star-blessed home. he really shouldn't complain.

he shadows his mother at a respectable distance, ignoring that foolish desire to press his shivering flank into the blue smoke's plush fur. that would be so childish of him, to seek out such a display of dependence when he's basically a full-grown warrior. sootpaw could handle the cold like the strong-ass adult he is.

weaselclaw and hyacinthbreath should take notes from him, really. sootpaw tilts his chin while his mother scolds the warriors, allowing himself a small smirk to break his aloof expression. "yeah, you should really practice gratitude. do you want some pointers?" sootpaw doesn't plan on waiting for an answer before offering his (unsolicited) advice. but then, coyotepaw pipes up, and the soot-furred apprentice must force his hackles to lie flat. oh, coyotepaw is in for it. completely fucking primed to be neck-deep in it. sootpaw must wonder, if this is what skyclan teaches their apprentices? to disrespect starclan so freely? to question their warrior ancestors without consequence?

it must be. that's what happens when a clan is led by kittypets, after all; their subordinates would take advantage of their weak will and exploit it. it takes an iron fist to lead so many cats at once. it takes a cat like sootstar.

and, holy stars above, sootpaw knows his mother will put that blasphemous tongue of coyotepaw's right where it belongs; down the stupid dude's throat. let him choke on it. that's the only way that he'll learn, isn't it?

"and i don't think you're nearly as smart as you make yourself out to be," sootpaw retorts, forcibly calm. "you haven't seen the true power of starclan, so you don't get to flap your lips about how powerful they may or may not be."

IS IT OVER YET - CAN I OPEN MY EYES?
periwinklepaw | 04 months | demi-boy | he/they | physically easy (pacifist) | mentally easy | attack in bold #ccccff

Weariness weighs heavily upon his frail figure - gaze heavy and worn as he watches his clanmates gather. It must be nice, he thinks, to be awake and aware out of choice. He's so tired all the time, and the bitter cold and his new apprentice duties have only made matters worse. Every limb feels stretched and strained - his head so heavy he can barely hold it up. Still, he slowly slips over, soft paws only making the faintest of sounds as his shuffles over to lay by hyacinth. The warmth of his clanmates helps a bit, and as he blinks languidly he wonders if he might finally find some sleep. "Have y-you?" he wonders absently - clear gaze staring blankly at sootpaw. He's careful to remain politely inquisitive, he's not one to start fight, but the boy grates on his nerves in a way no cat ever has. At least sootstar terrifies and awes him in equal measures. Sootpaw is simply... bothersome.

( ⓛ ﻌ ⓛ *)∫ An amber eye glow with intensity in the moonlight that was casted over the camp, and pointed ears watched the group of cats from a distance for a moment. They all seemed to be cold, commenting about the easy leaf-bare thus far, and questioning Starclan. Starclan was a subject he tended to avoid as he didn't truly believe in them like the rest of his clanmates did. Snowshadow believed in that of their ancestors and they guide them when they needed it most. Though he referred to them by the kingdom standards rather than clan.

Still, the black and white body moved across the open landscape for the group of cats and found himself gravitating towards Duskfires' side. Settling down beside the bengal tomcat and looked up at the sky for a moment as everyone else started to speak. "Starclan works in a mysterious way, just like my ancestors back home, while some may not believe in them- they are there. Watching over us," Snowshadow remarked back to young Coyotepaw and Sootpaw, Periwinklepaw also piping up about Starclan.

"I have seen the power our ancestors can give, both in the fact we are alive and prey is well, and in that of Sootstar and her many lives," Snowshadow continued onwards, gesturing with a feathery tail for Periwinklepaw to join beside him. He adored his siblings, they were his greatest gift, and those above had given him that gift. Dual colored eyes then looked to Duskfire, his other greatest gift- a friend. No doubt that the ancestors had blessed him with them when coming to Windclan, thusly how could he argue with it? — tags
