LOOK TO THE SKY — meeting 12.3.23

All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highstones for a Clan meeting!” Blazestar bounds from his den and shoots onto the Highbranch—it quivers beneath his weight, but he rights himself easily. The Ragdoll’s eyes shine as he looks for two newer members to SkyClan, one who has learned the ways of their Clan and requested a proper warrior’s name, and one who will begin their training in earnest. “Lux, you have proved yourself to be a true warrior of SkyClan. Please step forward.

He lifts his chin, blue eyes resting on the gold-splashed tom below the branch. “I, Blazestar, leader of SkyClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look upon this cat. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn.” His eyes flash as he asks, “Lux, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?

Blazestar waits, whiskers quivering, for the expectant vow.

Upon clan meetings, he does not show his face often. What a vast summoning's it was, for apprentices and elders; for the nothings and nobodies. It was as much as a summoning for him, as the summoning for all things that fly would be to the sun. When birds and bees are situated around the treetops, why should it sink so low as to meet them all. To hum about idly, and most certainly, it would never be addressed. There was nothing for it there, nothing but the chitterings of things he would never understand, and too many names to remember.

That is, unless it only makes itself known to warm the backs of others. Dawnglare supposes that's all that it ever did, really.

He loses his own line of thought. The sun is a fake, warm light upon him. He would soak up no warmth from its cool gaze. Two young cats stand before it, now. Two new names; one of them only the beginning of something else. Bothersome, is what he has always found it to be. To learn one's name just to relearn later. He pays attention, lifting his nose to the illusion of the sun's kiss. They are names he would learn— even if he owes them nothing.

  • ( I'M AS ALIVE AS HER BEARD IS LONG ) DAWNGLARE Medicine Cat of SkyClan. Mentoring Fireflypaw
𓆩♡𓆪 He / him , deeply confused by the use of other pronouns
𓆩♡𓆪 Currently 59 moons old as of 11.20.23. Mated to Mallowlark

Unsettling and strange, Dawnglare bears a unique perception to the world and stars above on top of a generally unpleasant disposition. Holds others to uniquely impossible standards and himself undeniably above the rest.
Mood is decided by dice - rolls per thread, with the exception of some important threads

Closely behind a strawberry-and-milk tom does the weary apprentice follow, milky blues staring straightforward at nothing in particular. His father calls for a meeting, perched atop his throne, and Fireflypaw finds this is routine. Routine, he'd come to love more than most. He preferred the silence of cats to the wailing of grief and pain. His tail waves behind him as he moves to sit beside his mentor, falling into a peaceful silence as Lux is brought forward for his ceremony.

The cream-ticked tabby couldn’t believe it, nestled amongst the other SkyClanners with a soft hum, tail wrapping around his paws. It hadn’t seemed all that long ago when he joined, tossing his life into the fray hoping to draw the mutt away, confident and determined he was before returning, more nervous than he’d ever been. Things worked out, didn’t they? He chuckled, rubbing his cold-bitten nose, and warming up the sensitive appendage with a relieved sigh. Lux was never that good at keeping his temperature regulated, despite the lanky male’s fur, it did little to fight against the weather.

At the call of his name, Lux stumbled onto wobbly paws, gaze widening just a hare before smoothing his shock, padding up with a nervous grin, odd hues crinkled, letting in little light. Right. Right. His time was up, wasn’t it? He couldn’t tell whether the bundle of nerves sitting against the puttering of his heart was terror or excitement—maybe both. He was always a nervous wreck, even if he put on a faux sense of childish charm, laughing and getting callouses on his paws. Being in SkyClan was nice, better even despite the odd circumstances when he joined, rogues tossed them out, and met various clan cats, even meeting an old friend while he was still a loner.

Blinking, the tom nodded, listening to Blazestar with rapt attention, tail sitting idly against the worn-out ground. His expression crackled, turning serious with a slow nod of his helm without hesitation, lifting his chin with nervous glee. “I do.” He swore. Lux had always been alone, running wild without rules but the ones he created, childish as he was then, the male craved some stability. He would lie down his life for them, unfamiliar or not, Lux was thankful for being given this chance, even if something inside him screamed he didn’t deserve an ounce.

"IF YOU SEE THE WONDER OF A FAIRY TALE"
Nerves would lead her paws to the crowd of cats, seemingly gathered by the call of Blazestar. She had a lot to learn by being here, and soon enough she would come to find out that when Blazestar called a meeting, the clan was quick to gather. A quiet nudge from an npc had guided her to follow in the paw steps of the others, taking a seat and falling silent before the leader began to speak again. While outright clueless, she knew when to take the hint from others and act how they did. While she was expecting to be called upon during this meeting to be recognized as an official member of Skyclan, she still found herself unaware of what was being asked of her.

Oh, a naming ceremony for Lux! Tigerscar grins toothily as he draws close with ears pricked and attentive. He assumes there will be new apprentices today as well, but admittedly Tigerscar is more excited about hearing the verdict against WindClan. He wants war. He wants the thrill of a raid into enemy territory. The snow of leaf-bare was frigid upon his paws, and yet he would disregard the health of his own clan to ensure his blood-lust was sated. For now, the towering brute seats himself in silence, teeth glinting in the sunlight as he listens to Blazestar with a wolfish expression.

Dutifully the one-eyed warrior joined the masses at the call of Blazestar. With all the recent drama, he itched for a moment of normalcy, and warrior ceremonies had become an enjoyable experience for them. Seeking a familiar tuft of fur he's disappointed to not see the familiar pelt of Littlepaw or Bear. For the time being, they pick a secluded spot towards the middle-back of the clearing and carefully ease into a comfortable sitting position. Head tilted upward and whiskers twitching in the icy breeze surrounding them. Gradually, he peeks a look at the cat in question and his opinion is neutral on the matter.

Having not spent much personal time with Lux, he could only go off with what their leader implied. Hearing the answer proved that fact even more. He fondly recalled his ceremony in that moment and could relate to the anxieties they faced. Blinking slowly, he waited for the next portion of the ceremony to commence. A small smile playing on his lips as happy memories danced in the back of their mind.

Figfeather gathers around the high-branch and takes a seat next to her mate. Looking up to Blazestar her gaze is averted when he calls upon Lux. The feline has proven themselves to be a true warrior of SkyClan and was now ready to recieve his full name. Her face brightens with excitement and after the tom-cat says his vow her ears perk expectantly for the new name Blazestar was about to gift him.

HE SAID, "WELL MY NAME'S JOHNNY, AND IT MIGHT BE A SIN
BUT I'LL TAKE YOUR BET, AND YOU'RE GONNA REGRET, CUZ IM THE BEST THERE'S EVER BEEN."

Naming ceremony's were always a good thing- well, mostly. The last one he'd seen done had been on a battlefield, with the cats life fast-fading, but he wouldn't let the memory spoil Lux's day in his mind. The tom had worked hard to make himself worthy in the eyes of Blazestar and Starclan, and today his efforts would finally pay off in the form of a proper warrior name. So Johnny made his way over and took a seat in the crowd, giving the meeting his attention and waiting to cheer for the young tom like the rest of the clan undoubtedly would.

The I do comes, and is met with a warm smile. Blazestar calls, “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Lux, from this moment on, you will be known as Tatteredlight. StarClan honors your commitment and your compassion, and we welcome you as a full warrior of SkyClan.” He has full faith the newly-named Tatteredlight will prove to be a credit to his Clan.

He turns, then, to find another tom, this one similarly shaped, with a familiar fluffy pelt and thick ruff of fur about his neck and chest. “Dolly, you, too, have chosen to take on a traditional warrior name. I, Blazestar, leader of SkyClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look upon this cat. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn.” He regards the other Ragdoll with serious blue eyes. “Dolly, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?

Upon hearing Dolly’s vow, Blazestar will lift his chin and call, “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Dolly, from this day forward, you will be known as Softheart. StarClan honors your determination and your initiative, and we welcome you as a full warrior of SkyClan.” He would customarily leap from his place on the Highbranch, but first the golden warrior turns to the young feline in the crowd.

Macaroni, it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Macaronipaw.” Blazestar purrs, amused by the name, but his tone grows more serious as his gaze flicks to a great scarred tabby. “Your mentor will be Tigerscar. Tigerscar, I know you will pass down all you know to young Macaronipaw.

Everything is normal. Typical. Until he hears his name. Suddenly, focus is drawn away from the newly named SkyClan warriors, and toward himself, because he could almost swear that Blazestar had said his name. His! Tigerscar was getting his very first apprentice. About time, the brute thinks with a flick of his tail. One-eyed vision dances away from the SkyClan leader and finds the new apprentice in the crowd, a former kittypet, he thinks. Or a Daylight Apprentice. Either way, Tigerscar steps forward, toward the front of the gathered cats, before making his way toward Macaronipaw. It was a strange name, but not exactly abnormal for SkyClan. Had he not specifically requested a true warrior name, Tigerscar probably would have been named something equally as silly.

"Suppose it's time to start your training in earnest, then." The huge maine coon speaks to his new apprentice, a small smile perched upon his mangled face. "We'll not waste time. Once the meeting is dismissed, I'll show you the borders and start teaching you our customs."

Lux! He offers the warrior an easygoing grin, experiencing a burst of joy for his peer. At his own name, his attention drifts back to the golden leader, head tipping upwards. Thinks the rock suits Blazestar, although they share the difficulty with climbing. It takes an unnatural amount of time for the inquiry to truly register, slumping in silence for a time.

His gaze meets Blazestar's similarly blue eyes, suddenly the answer seems more immediate, he hastens to speak. "Uh.. Yes. I promise." Softheart. It echos in his ears, consumes his thoughts temporarily - it's his name now. He's sworn himself to SkyClan. Over time the easy living memories become less predominant, he's able to focus on the topics outside of that, focus in a loose sense of the word. He must thank - he's craning his head to search for Drizzlepelt, he's unsure if he finds him. Mutters a thank you regardless. Seems Macaroni is next, now an apprentice. "Congratulations." he drawls vaugely, unable to rid the distant smile or the pride lingering in his chest from his new name.

He let go of a breath he hadn’t been aware he’d been holding at the sound of his name called out for the entire camp to hear. His mangled ears perked with a silent happy trill on his pinkish tongue that lapped at his fangs, unable to expel the nervous energy that raced through his frame like angry tides during a thunderstorm. Tatteredlight. A new start. A happier one. Pretty soon, the ticked-tabby could not hide the thankful grin that peeked across dark soft-bitten lips. The turbulent nervousness among his bundling nerves finally fell way, sending sharp jolts of serotonin and relief through his quivering frame. He did it.

Returning Dolly’s easygoing grin with his own, closed eyes and all. Thank you. His throat closed up, unable to speak against a swelling tongue, instead dipping his helm, backing away into the fluctuating crowd to listen to two other ceremonies and offering the newly named Softheart his congratulating grin, beaming in unbridled joy.

It felt like moons ago, fending for himself, looking over his shoulder with unwavering fear for demons to leap out and drag him back. It was a lonely life, one Tatteredlight wouldn’t miss. He was starting anew. A SkyClan warrior. Proud. Happy. He laughed softly, gaze crinkling despite his best wishes to remain silent as it dwindled to an end. If she were still here, Tatteredlight was certain he wouldn’t be feeling this free, allowing himself to bask in the shimmering light that was his name. Tatteredlight. Lux wasn’t sure if he could ever get used to it.
