  sparrowsong is a small, unremarkable tabby. soft-spoken, and with hardly a notable feature about them, they can easily fade into the background of any crowd. boasting a chocolate spotted pelt, their pride in themself despite it shows in its softness and sheen. rarely do they allow themself to go ungroomed. it's more to feel good than to look good, though; although the latter is a plus.
  
  their belly fades into a light cream, trailing down the backs of their legs and dipping their small, delicate paws in a similar shade. peculiarly, their back paws are a dark brown rather than pale. in every other fashion they are a typical tabby, from their dark striped tail to the small splash of white on their chest to their ashy black nose and paw pads.
  
  of the few things that stand out about sparrowsong, one is the long, strikingly straight scar that runs down their right flank, from their shoulder to their hip. a permanent remnant of the day they lost their family and everything they knew, but also a remnant of the day they found sanctuary in skyclan. it's a feature they prefer not to talk about or acknowledge.
  
  they have a round, almost kitten-like face accentuated by plush-furred cheeks that are described as squirrel-like by some. where cream fades to brown, upon them lies speckles, not quite stripes, that look similar to freckles. accentuating it all are equally-round eyes, faded blue in color that could even be argued to be gray in a sea of brown. sparrowsong is seemingly always smiling in some fashion, often times small, despite the near constant worry in their gaze.
  
  regardless of their somewhat timid and delicate appearance and thin frame, sparrowsong seems to be full of energy, evident in the way they can scale trees near effortlessly. scaling the pines to view the world as a bird would is a near constant and almost a necessity for them, and is perhaps the greatest blessing they received from their escape from twolegplace.
  
  unsurprisingly, in a territory full of pine trees, they smell of pine like the others. on a deeper level, though, it could be more accurately described as something sweeter like sap, more earthy like petrichor, or something inbetween. upon their arrival from twolegplace they had once smelled of fresh laundry, but the scent has long since worn away to time, left in the past. any whiffs of it are from memory alone.   ⤷ these actions are platonic in nature. the colony they were raised in were very tight-knit in this regard, as such displays were common.

• as an individual, sparrowsong is largely unassuming. their most likely first two impressions are a friendly face or quiet and timid, but neither of these assumptions are entirely wrong. one thing's for certain though, and that is that despite how they may seem, they aren't shy in the slightest.
  
  as a social butterfly raised in a family of the equal-minded, sparrowsong is kind with a heart full of love that's big enough for even the grumpiest of sorts. they are empathetic, led by their feelings first and foremost, and are just as quick to lend a shoulder as they are to seek one out.
  
  affection is easily given and readily received by them. those who have shown to not mind it will never be short of their presence in friendly interactions, be it head bumps or nuzzling or pressing into fur. of course, they're more than willing to respect boundaries; those that don't like to be touched will not be touched.
  
  sparrowsong may have garnered a reputation as one who enjoys the small joys in life, such as singing and laughter. their nest is near birdlike in the way it could rival those of the nursery in its comfort, yet even so they are more than willing to leave its confines in favor of seeking out a friend to sleep next to at night. they love to collect feathers, a result of their love for birds, among many other small trinkets they may have stowed away beneath their nest's surface.
  
  ever a fan of the ones they love and with them forever in their thoughts, it's hardly unusual for a character viewed by them in a positive - or even neutral-leaning - light to be surprised with a gift at random points, regardless of what that character had done for them previously. with an exceedingly simple thought process, something catches their eye, so they present it to somebody they care about. often times the gifts are extremely underwhelming, but it's the thought that counts.
  
  for all their openness and their eager, earnest attitude, sparrowsong is surprisingly passive. confrontation and assertion is a weakness. that's not to say they can't, however; they can easily speak their mind, but hostility and anger will very quickly make them freeze. with seldom a snarling face from their early life, they never quite figured out how to handle such situations. their unfortunate encounters with twolegs may have prevented that possibility entirely.
  
  between fight or flight, they very strongly lean toward the flight end of the two. quick to back down, quick to flee, quick to submit. they only just barely learned self defense in their time as an apprentice, but they most certainly don't make good use of it. despite the guilt they feel from leaving everyone behind in the twolegplace, they can't outrun their own cowardly nature, and when it comes down to it, self-preservation comes first... even if it's just out of fear rather than selfish intentions.
