Appearance:
Named for his orange and white fur, Shinepaw looks like a piece of the sun. The boy's pelt is long while his stature is shorter than average, almost making him look like a walking ball of fur on days when his pelt is particularly messy. Wide blue eyes contrast his fur. References
Personality:
Shinepaw is an extrovert with severe social anxiety. He likes to talk to people, but his intense desire to make friends and have others like him back causes him to constantly worry about his own social standing and ends up turning him into a people-pleasing doormat most of the time. Shinepaw treats any minor social faux pas as an end of the world scenario, and is prone to spiraling into a self-perpetuating cycle of worry at the slightest mistake. Shinepaw has a very low opinion of himself, and tries to make up for his perceived flaws by helping Thunderclan. As a result, he ties his self worth to things like hunting or combat. Shinepaw is very kind, but feels intense jealousy towards any cat (especially any peer) he perceives as doing better than him. Shinepaw hates making others worry, and very rarely opens up about his insecurities.
History:
Shinepaw had a normal childhood. He was a troublemaker as a kit, constantly bothering others with his antics, which usually involved some game or another. As he grew closer to his apprenticeship, Shine’s anxieties began to manifest as he became focused on becoming the best hunter in the clan, convinced it would earn him respect, social standing, and friends.
Apprenticed to Flycatcher, Shinepaw did not take to hunting quickly. The boy lacked natural talent, and ended most days completely exhausted and with nothing to show for it. He progressed slowly, but would eventually be completely stalled by sickness.
Shinepaw caught yellowcough at 9 moons old, and would not be cured until the journey cats’ return, roughly 2 moons later. Having lost time sitting in the medicine den, Shinepaw is now far behind in his training, and it is uncertain whether or not he will pass his warrior assessment. Shinepaw’s self-esteem has only gotten worse, convinced he became sick because he was too weak and now feeling like he has to make it up to his clanmates for taking care of him while he was sick, putting even more pressure on himself.
