The air is thick with sadness and grief, and it's infectious. Even Shiori, who wasn't close with their fallen leader, feels it. He isn't a stranger to grief, not at all. He has no memory of his mother and littermates, but he long thought his father to be dead, and while Ume could've survived like the two of them did, Shiori doesn't want to get his hopes up. This time he isn't alone, and this time there are others, young kits, who have been exposed to grief and loss for the first time.
While he's still unsure of his own feelings regarding parenthood, that doesn't mean he has no soft spot for kits and, times such as these, he wants to make sure they're doing well. Get their minds off of the heaviness in the air. So Shiori approaches the nursery, albeit hesitantly.
“Hello?” he calls in, softly. His expression is more gentle and delicate than usual, he doesn't want to scare anyone. “How's everyone doing? Do you want me to bring you some prey? I can tell a story or play a game if any of you want.”
Copper eyes scan the nursery and he lands on one of the kits - Butterflytuft and Dandelionwish's son Weedkit. He turns his attention to the black and white kit and asks, “How about you, Weedkit? Is there anything you want to do?”
// please wait for @weedkit !
